The Corolla GR Sport is imbued with spirit of Toyota Gazoo Racing, further developing the model’s dynamic looks and driving capabilities. It will be the second model to join the European GR Sport line-up following the introduction of the Yaris GR Sport last year.
Both Hatchback and Touring Sports versions will be available, with a choice of 1.8 or 2.0-litre self-charging hybrid powertrains. The Toyota Gazoo Racing influence is witnessed in distinctive styling elements, including a new front grille with a dark chrome finish, lower skirts and sills and a rear diffuser. The GR Sport has dedicated 18-inch machined-finish alloy wheels, plus rear privacy glass, front fog lights, LED headlights and an exclusive Dynamic Grey bi-tone paint finish.
The cabin features sports seats in black cloth upholstery with leather-effect bolsters; full leather upholstery can be specified as an option. Black and red stitching adds a striking contrast on the instrument panel, steering wheel and shift lever.
The Corolla GR Sport will go on sale in Europe in January 2020. Details of UK availability and specifications will be announced later.
Corolla Trek
The Corolla Trek gives the Touring Sports model more rugged, crossover styling, designed to appeal to those who love outdoor pursuits. The Corolla Trek has also inspired a new collaboration between Toyota and Trek Bicycle, two brands which share similar environmental values and offer complementary mobility solutions.
Founded in 1976, Trek Bicycle is one of the world’s most popular cycle brands, selling around 1.5 million bikes a year. As well as manufacturing high-performance cycling equipment, Trek also uses the bicycle as a way of helping break down barriers that prevent people from living happier, healthier and more active lives.
Toyota has signed an agreement with Trek to provide Corolla Trek as support vehicles for the men’s and women’s teams competing in European events in the Trek-owned Trek-Segafredo World Tour.
The Corolla Trek will be offered with the 1.8 or 2.0-litre self-charging hybrid powertrains. It benefits from a 20mm increase in ride height and features front and rear underruns, 17-inch machined alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, front fog lights and LED headlights.
Following the successful launch of the new Corolla earlier this year - praised for its dynamic look and engaging driving capabilities - Toyota presents the Corolla GR SPORT, a sportier variant that injects some of the passion of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing. After the introduction of the Yaris GR SPORT at last year's Paris motor show, the Corolla GR SPORT is the second model to join Toyota's European GR SPORT range.
Available on both Hatchback & Touring Sports models and with a choice of 1.8 or 2.0 litre self-charging hybrid powertrains, the new GR SPORT grade takes the GAZOO Racing spirit to the heart of the Corolla range; its unique, sporting design cues targeting younger and enthusiastic customer.
Building on the mid or high grades, the GR SPORT features unique style elements including a new front grille with dark chrome finish and unique lower skirts, side rockers and rear diffuser. The grade also adds bespoke 18" machined alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, fog lamps, LED headlamps and a dedicated exterior colour Dynamic Grey with bi-tone execution.
On board, the GR SPORT is equipped with model-specific Sport seats in black fabric with leather-like bolsters, which may be optionally upgraded to full leather upholstery. Additionally it features black and red stitch on instrument panel, steering wheel and shifter.
The Corolla GR SPORT will be on sale from January 2020.

I love how passionate the reviewer is on the cargo area and when the rear seats were folded down. Most car reviews from other people in UA-cam breeze through the cargo area and focus too much on performance.

I am a sucker for estate cars. I just like the practical aspect. All types of vehicles go in and out of fashion but when it all boils down a good estate is hard to beat. That’s pretty stylish.

Dan, I love your excitement presenting a Corolla. It’s true this should be here in the US. I am so so tired to SUV’s. I am thrilled that small cars are finally getting away from the penalty boxes they were in the past. Now, you can be proud to drive compact cars and get the features you use to only get on top models.

...it's not that we are idiots...well, most of us aren't; but in fact the idiots at the top car brands that tell us what we want/have to buy and to maximize profit, give us little to no choice, so we are stuck with whatever makes the most money for the car manufacturer, not what is actually best. I'd choose the wagon; however, the Mrs. chose the CUV; can't win them all, but I do wish more fast wagons were available in the US like the Golf-R Wagon

Wow, Toyota and GR actually came through with something that didn't take years of hype to build interest. I wish this model/trim was sold in the US, but apparently there is a memo out there that says "We" can't handle fast wagons, so we don't get fast wagons. Make it fast, make it fun, make it AFFORDABLE, and give it nice colors and the car will sell.

In the U.S., where the Corolla Touring is not offered, its availability here would counter the only real negative (a big one) of the hatchback: rear seating space and cargo area. And, I believe, this looks better/more-balanced, as well. Plus - if Toyota decided to lift it an inch or two - it could easily replace the odd-looking and slow-selling C-HR.

If they brought this to USA I would hope that it could be as an XSE model. I don’t really see myself needing a sport station wagon. However a version of this with a good interior and slightly more fuel efficient engine would be great!

Nice Review, currently I have a 2019 Corolla Hatch very nice car but if I had a choice between the GR version and the regular hatch I would definitely get the GR sport (plus more cargo room!), Unfortunately the Canadian market dose not sell the wagon since they are currently gearing to crossover SUV's over here. I would like to see the performance of the model!

Corolla is practically Prius in Corolla body. The best parts it has Lexus UX engine option, 2.0L 180HP instead of 1.8L only like in Prius. It also has option with adaptive dampfer like GTI.

If Toyota doesn't come out with better packages in the 2021 model here in the United States, I'll probably move on to another company. I really don't like how the Pris looks, so that's out too.

Congratulations on the excellent article, every day we feel that companies that decided to invest in advance in the development of new technologies for autonomous, electric and hybrid urban mobility, began to spread the hegemony of German vehicles that were always geared towards combustion engines. I believe that in a maximum of five years, we will see a total inversion in the market value of several brands, although they are running out of time but with a delay that will cost them dearly.

I would like to hear about new option which is available with GR sport trim and that is the new adaptive suspension. If it´s noticeable when comparing sport and comfort mode and if its price as an option is justified?

The color is not white, it is light grey. Official name Dynamic grey. Looks like white in the sun, and more like grey in the evening. New color introduced for Corolla GR bi-tone.

I get my new GR fully loaded(pano, foot sensor etc) with a 26% reduction from retail. I'm very lucky, that I got this offer from my dealer.
To be honest... if I would live in US, I would go for the Prius, because the 1.8 has not the power... and the Corolla looks like a sporty car.
Regarding the lack of charging ports in the back:
It's the area, which can get in contact with legs. I think, it is wise to get rid of it.
The solution:
There are ports in the armrest. It is easy to direct the cable from the inside of the armrest to the back. And nothing is in the way, if three people are sitting in the rear.
Just my 2 cents.

🤣🤣🤣I like how you just gave up on opening the fuel tank door. I'm guessing it is the unlock/lock all doors button. I feel your pain because there is no label to tell you that it was integrated. It happened to me few times, and its embarrassing to be fumbling around while the people behind you get impatient and irritated. 😅

Yes George indeed the multimedia system is old in comparation with other companies....it has some locks as well .....but engine it is amazing and all the mecanical stuff.....i think tbe big downside it is multimedia
