  • Kokanee Salmon are cousins to the Sockeye salmon that live in the ocean. Just like the Sockeye they also turn red before there traditional fall run up Taylor Creek. I have spotted the salmon at other surrounding creeks but they predominantly choose Taylor creek. Once they lay there eggs they mate and then die. So if you go late in the run you will see dead fish floating along the river. You will see ducks and bears feasting on the salmon. These Salmon are not Native to this lake but were introduced by man in 1952. The salmon were late this year on there run due to a bunch of beaver dams. Local park rangers had to take down a few to complete this circle of life. This video was filmed with phantom vision plus and gopro 3. I also used a canon point and shoot.
