Waging war against hordes of robots can be hard, especially if you lack good men to do it for you. And in such situation, even those at the bottom of the list must do.

What I have learned about this map is one thing at least: All the waves must be contained inside the cave. The moment they start fetting past your defenses in there, the whole thing is going to get pretty hard. And it is even harder to push back enough to get the defenses up and running in there. One thing I ended up doing is being a cash spy. I kept trying to sap sentry busters, but forgot I had my dead ringer
In the trailer for Mann Vs Machine, Blu Team worked with Red Team. In the game, only Red Team is playable. Valve said that Blu Team would be confused with the robots, so they left them out. I would have just made one Purple Team.
Aren't the robots a whole lot taller? And even then, why color them at all? Or at least give them industrial black and yellow decals.
@@JeremyFinch42 Most of the robots are the same size as the regular mercs. Only the big boss ones are taller. Though your ideas about coloration are valid. I think the big issue is the core gameplay - there are two teams (RED and BLU) who fight against each other. I assume adding a third (grey) team wouldn't be too difficult, but still somewhat redundant and take up unnecessary resources. Why make a third team when you can just make the bots BLU?

Still, they took the time to make newly rendered models, so I'm pretty sure they could just pull up some of their assets from Half Life to color them in.
@@JeremyFinch42 Fair point, but I think (no sources, don't quote me) that they made the robots blue for consistency's sake. They have red skins as well.
I mean.. it's easy to tell the difference between a blu merc and a robot... unless you're a noob or just plain idiotic.

That's an interesting concept for Sniper! Jarate can stun the tank for 5 seconds.
A buff like that would keep the angry meta-noids from kicking Snipers.

anonymous man In a way, yes. We recorded character movement for some scenes in SFM, and then edited it afterwards.

The way the sentry just folded itself up into the toolbox made me laugh.
This is a funny series. I really enjoyed watching them. Also, it may be a small detail but I love how everyone in this is hatted instead of you just enforcing the "only Gibusvision f2p noobs are morons" stereotype.

+James Wingate As you may have noticed, we use Source Filmmaker to create the animations. The exact process is generally fairly complicated, but if you want to give it a try, the software is available for free on Steam. There's a very hefty learning curve involved, though!

if sentries actually got scared of giant robots, it'd be hilarious, just seeing your sentry shivering, also growing legs and running away, also would make sentry spamming ineffective when you've got giant robots (they're literally on every mission)

How do you get SFM to work? It lags out every time I try to load a map.
We haven't had problems like that (even if Jurttu's computer isn't top notch), but here's something you can try. We suggest you try this with a ctf_2fort since it's confirmed to work:
1) When you get the initial file selection window, hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc, find sfm.exe, right click on it and set it's priority to High. That helps us squeeze a little bit of extra frames out of the computer.
2) Sometimes the solution is very simple: restart your computer, and launch it through the SDK (from the menu that pops up right when you start SFM up).
3) Make sure your firewall/antivirus isn't blocking it/parts of it (for example, Avast initially blocks the phoneme extractor).
If none of those do the trick, you can try these (back up your saved projects first, if any):
3) Verify the program (game) cache.
4) When you launch through the SDK, select "Reset Game Configurations". This occassionally does wonders.
5) Update your graphics drivers (should also help with other games).
6) Re-install SFM entirely.
Right click and disable all the ticked things then re-enable them when your finish ring your work

It's so great when you get matched to an MVM game and already see that 2 or 3 of your teammates have that ? Steam profile pic, meaning they don't even have set up their profile yet and probably only play TF2 because it's free, and a name like watschek12345 or johannes.millman283829. Then you look at them and see Pyrovision goggles and Gibus and know: This game is gonna be shit.
Then one of them goes Scout and upgrades the Scattergun, ignores all the money, one goes Engineer and builds no tp and and all his shit right on the spawn, and another one goes Pyro and, important rule when you are a total noob Pyro, especially with 0 tours - IMMEDIATELY ready up after joining the sv. Also pretend you don't speak English at all, but when you are insulted you suddenly do. Also probably go Medic and never heal anyone, but use the syringe gun to do 2 damage in the entire wave :)

No seriously, you can scream at them: MOVE YOUR STUFF UP ENGIE! In voice chat. And they won't do shit.

What your suppose to do is you pick up your sentry, walk to the sentry buster, then when its about to explode run back and place your sentry
