Actually, the most relatable thing in SP for me, is that children in it DO ACT like actual children their age. Me and my friends were literally like them. We still do, but our 'roles' in it have changed (for the best...I'm not alike Cartman anymore). That's why this show and it's characters are so important and heartwarming to me rn Love South Park

I do question why Trey and Matt have only aged them up 1 year within the show. When the show started, all the kids acted much more naive and childish. They definitely shouldn’t ever become adults outside of the Post Covid special but I think 14 or 15 is a better representation of their mental age than 10.

Well, we were rewatching some of season 25. Specifically the episode “Help! My Teenager Hates Me!”, and he and I came to the exact same conclusion that the kids are about 14 or 15 mentally. We revisited this topic when we watched the season 26 episode “Dikinbaus”. The only modern exception I see to this claim is the season 25 episode “Pajama Day”. THAT was 10-year-old behavior.

It's too bad Matt and Trey think so lowly of the early seasons. Early South Park had this charm to it that's never been replicated. It somehow captured the innocence, the vulgarity and the sheer assholeishness of growing up. I don't think the show lost its magic or anything, but I do think those early seasons deserve respect. They offer something that can't be found anywhere else, including later seasons of the show.
