I haven't heard the Dandy Warhols in *years*. I used to listen to "Thirteen Tales..." and "Come Down" on pretty regular rotation back in the day. Thanks for reminding me to give them another listen.
Caught them live here a few times(Australia),great band. Love the Brian Jonestown Massacre, probably seen them 4 or 5 times when they’ve come out here. Subbed.
@@TheThamesmen yeah….Dave Grohl described it as “Whenever anyone asks me what my favorite rock-band horror film is, I always say it’s that documentary Dig! about the Dandy Warhols and Brian Jonestown Massacre, because that’s the most terrifying movie I’ve ever seen. It might top The Exorcist.”….😆
Welcome, Welcome and thanks for finding us. We love our music here and we welcome subscribers to keep us informed and heading in the right direction as left to our own devices we would be a mess!
Caught you fellas celebrating with Chris and Greg. I am taken back to when this song broke here in The States. I was in high school and loved the tune, but my dad who is a diehard Stones fan was always quick to tell me of how derivative it was. Thanks for rekindling that memory. Be well, gents.
That is awesome! Thanks so much for checking us out Andrew - I live the vibe on this track also! Watch the sister track that came with this... The Fontaines DC "boys in the better land".... If you like this, you'll love that. Peace Alex✌️
@@TheThamesmen thanks for the recommendation. Fontaines DC has a real throwback sound. I see that they formed in 2017, but if you told me this song was written in ‘86 I wouldn’t have batted an eye. I have a weak spot for bands, no matter from where they herald, that really lean into rock subgenres of the past whilst still clearly leaving their own distinct fingerprint-bands and artists like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Spoon, Mike Snow, Jack White, etc. I will have to keep my eyes peeled and ears open for more stuff from Fontaines DC.
A Banger with a Wanger! Dig! is one of my favourite films also, though I have to confess I prefer Brian Jonestown Massacre. Always have a soft pot for self-destructive geniuses in all areas, not just music. You summed up the film perfectly.
I love BJM but on a daily basis sway towards Dandy's - Now which BJM album? Mine is Strung Out In Heaven as Dig was focused on this and it seems the most polished. Yours?
@@TheThamesmen It's a great album - Wisdom is one of their best tracks. I really like Methodrone and Give It Back as well. I'm slowly getting every album on vinyl that I can, so my latest acquisition Revelations is my current favourite this month.
Ok I have to go with Fontaines DC. I know the Dandy Warhols. I have their Distortland album and have been listening to them for almost 20 years. So Fontaines win for being new. As for bands I have seen the most, if you count only bands after they made it, it would be a tie: Rolling Stones (73, 75, 78, 80 and 2003), Grateful Dead (77, 85, 87, 89 and 93) and Tedeschi Trucks Band (2011, 12, 15, 17 and 19). If I count before they made it big I saw Rush umpteen times in Toronto when they were playing the school dance circuit (and twice in stadiums) and the Tragically Hip umpteen times while they were freshmen and I was in 4th year of University (plus twice in big venues).
@@TheThamesmen yeah vividly. They weren't really that prog. Kind of more wannabe Zeppelin. It was well before Neil Peart. John Rutsey was the drummer. Think Working Man.....I preferred Lighthouse the band I sent you the link to the other day.
New sub from into the music! As a Brian Jonestown fan hard to not love The Dandys. Looking forward to your channel. There's an obscure band, defunct now, that I loved when I was in my Australian psych faze called The Dolly Rocker Movement. Check them out!
Welcome and thanks for coming over to say hi, stick around! I will definitely check that out as I have a soft spot for Oz bands having lived there in mid 80s. I always thought there was something distinctive about the Australian bands. (Probably my favorite being Midnight Oil). Would love to do a mini series on Aussie bands. - (George here)
@@TheThamesmen They exploded with the next wave of Psych. I loved The Lime Spiders and Midnight Oil. But this was all around BJM time Tame Impala, Dolly Rocker Movement, The Lovetones, anyway good luck to you both. Glad to have found you!
Awww, crap!!!! George & Alex, I loved the Warhols' tune! But I gave up on them years ago...I thought that their "Come Down" album was crap except for one song ("Not If You Were The Last Junkie On Earth") which I love and still play frequently. Never listened to any of their recordings after that album...should I give them another go?
It's a great film independent if you like BJT or D/Warhols or not. You'll then get into what they did and how they did ity... Great film but not one for kids!!
Dandy Warhols are so fantastic and their shows are the BEST! Great choice!
I haven't heard the Dandy Warhols in *years*. I used to listen to "Thirteen Tales..." and "Come Down" on pretty regular rotation back in the day. Thanks for reminding me to give them another listen.
I also had the single to "Boys Better" which featured a surprisingly adroit cover of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", which I rather enjoy.
George here, I have them On a regular playlist. Have a lot of great tracks. If you get a chance go see them live. Just brilliant
What's not to like? Some jangly guitars, snappy lyrics.
And a wooden comb on the 'cool scene' track.

You ever seen the film “Dig”. If not highly recommend it

Talk about a banger. This album, tfmb, is one of the best start to end.
Love the Dandy’s
The nineties were awesome. Nobody needs to make excuses for
Good point!

Hi Andrew - Listen to Liberty Bell by the Fointaies DC. You'll like it.... Great to have you on board our spaceship and keep recommending! alex✌️
👌
Definitely a nice groove, I would definiely listen to more. 8.2
WTF. Someone is actually playing the best album of 2000! (David Gray - White Ladders close second)
We love The Dandy Warhols. One of the best live bands to see still

Basically "Brown Sugar" by the Stones, but I love it anyway.
