This album is a little gem of "alternative" rock.
One of the first bands i really got into, that song got big in UK cos of a Vodafone commercial but i was a fan long before that
I’ve heard this song many times and never picked up on the Stones riff, but it’s obviously there.
A lot of subtle references to 60s and 70s music in Dandy Warhols (and in Brian Jonestown Massacre, for that matter) music. Glad you picked up on that. Those touches are nice little surprises for folks with some musical listening history under their belts. "Bohemian Like You" is an accurate, and funny, reflection on Pacific Northwest hipster culture of the 1990s. Their "Godless", "Sleep", and "Not Your Bottle" have managed to stay on my playlists. Underrated band, particularly in the US. I enjoyed your comments.
Cool song, I know it well, great Stones vibes!
Spot on with appraisal. Definitely influenced by the Stones- and absolutely the Brown Sugar riff. Really catchy song. Are the ooh ooh oohs channeling Sympathy For The Devil ?
The Dandy Warhol's first album has a song called Ride which is pretty much an homage to or rip off of the band Ride's earlier, more droney, stuff like Drive Blind.
The Dandy's are also known for the part in the documentary Dig! about their friendship turned rivalry/enmity with the band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. If you want some Stones influenced alt rock, check out a song of theirs like Going to Hell.
On the Dandy's early stuff the singer is just listed as Courtney Taylor; I'm pretty sure he's said the Taylor-Taylor thing was just him having fun and kind of trolling the press. Their next album was produced by Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran and that band had two members with the last name Taylor. My head canon is that he's making a joke about being their offspring but I don't think there's anything to support that.
As for the lyrics or meaning of the song, theirs are generally tongue in cheek or mocking. See also: Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth. Which was a little rich coming from them since the joke at the time was that when they got money from a major label they didn't buy new gear, they upgraded their dealer. A key line from this song to indicate that its cynical is "Just a casual, casual easy thing. Is it? It is for me."
Great input! Thanks!

If you want to hear/review a song that sounds like the Stones (only more so😀), check out 'Rocks' video by my fellow Scots 'Primal Scream' (Lennon/Janov reference).
Gee who knew that there were so few chords in pop music?
