I appreciate that so much! It's always the hardest part of any video. What do we cut, keep, "Oh no I totally forgot about this ridiculous 16 bears in a row sequence how do I include it now?!?!?!" - Once the main track is laid out, the rest isn't too bad though!
In your defense for “the Dragonborn comes” song, when it’s sang by the female characters, they say COMES a little louder than the rest of the song like they’re making sure you heard it. I busted out laughing the first time I heard heard it and i out loud went “why did she have to say it like that”
Watched this while grinding crafting in Old School Runescape. The editing is very well done and not too "in your face" like other videos where it's overloaded with memes. I usually watch several videos from a channel before deciding whether to subscribe or not, but this one video has earned an instant subscription from me.
15:54 Ghunzul locked you into the killcam just 20 frames after the game officially considered the first hit to have landed (which is 10 frames sooner than it even took your health bar to finish adjusting to your current HP). Man's got those frame-perfect fighting game reflexes.
I'm late to this, but we didn't actually die! Twitch chat and I just came to an agreement that ending it RIGHT at that moment was more funny. I doubt we do a part two with this character but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Thank you for watching :)
I just binged this entire run on your other channel and, i have to say, the editing on this video is absolutely fantastic, especially having just seen the source material. New sub.
I just can't get over how perfectly done the ending to this video is. Your expression and the zoom in is fantastic. I will rewatch this video just for the ending
I love how his justification for not giving 5 gold to the poor farmer who lost everything was because he needed it more, but then he gave 50 to the next guy on the road just for fun.
24:56 You don't actually have to catch the salmon in mid-air to get the Salmon Roe. If you hit them with Flames (or either of the other two basic elemental spells), you'll kill them and they'll just float downstream for you to pick up at your leisure.
Funnily enough, this is basically how I play Skyrim normally (minus the permadeath). I'm one of those weirdos who consider gathering raw materials and crafting them into items to be the most enjoyable part of the game, so I usually challenge myself to only loot crafting ingredients, books, uniques, quest items, and gold. It's a very zen experience, especially with the right mods installed.
I've been watching Skyrim youtube videos for literally over a decade now. This is by far one of the best, the emotional highs and lows, that boss battle gave me second hand addrenaline. Well done, awesome challenge. More like this, you've earned a sub!
Hope this becomes a dedicated series! Its kinda how I play the game normally, except that I use a mod to smelt down/break down the things I find in the world as way to optain resources to craft things as well.
I usually don't like watching videos above 20-25 minutes but this guy was able to encaptivate me for the entire time and kept me laughing and smiling throughout. I love this guy
While I didn't have Latin until Uni, where we had no choice but to learn it as future linguists, I know the quote you mentioned your teacher saying. @@Joov i had installed it from the steam workshop, then consolidated all my nexusmods with Vortex launcher. It allows you to craft pouches at leather crafting posts so you can increase carry capacity early. It's a bit OP though because with the right material you can hit a carry capacity of over 800 without a stamina increase, and the pouches count as an enchanted item so you can make one and disenchant it at a table to learn the carry capacity enchantment, bit of an exploit
@@phoenixdzk I don't know if there still is, but there was another version that nerfed the carry weight to 10-25 per pouch, which is a fair bit more balanced imo.
Everything from the editing, to the risk to the fun learning moments made this such an eventful video! So much so im gonna attempt something like this too!
Seeing you bring OSRS ideas into other games, mainly Skyrim, has really been awesome. I think you've found a really good niche and your content is great. Best of luck to you Joov
Your editing is seriously phenomenal. Also, in nearly 12 years since this games released we finally have empirical evidence that a npc can jump. TWICE!!!
so happy joov finally completed a challenge, when I saw the video was almost ending and he was in trouble vs haldir, I assumed the worst was gonna happen
I came into this with the FIRE EMBLEM context of an ironman run, which is one where you never reset the game, so I was highly confused at the sudden runescape.
Even before realizing this was your best video ever I was already taking notes on how I can pull this one off myself. And I'm never tempted by your insanity! Kickass job man, what a run!

Honestly this is such a cool idea! I kinda want to try it but I have such awful patience 😂 awesome video man This video also made me realise that I have also NEVER seen an NPC jump in the 7/8 years I've been playing Skyrim
This is my first challenge of yours I was able to watch in full on Diet Joov before the video came out, and I've got to say, it made the video itself 10x better! Can't wait to see more videos from you and catch more VODs!
The outro cannot be beat. Just rewatched this masterpiece of a video for the second time, and between this and the 1-inventory slot challenge, I have begun my own replay of Skyrim for the first time in....9 years?
Watched all the vods for this one while completing a crochet project and was entertained the whole time. I commend you for going through all that footage and editing it! Great work on the video :) I like the inclusion of the OSRS music too- my personal fave OSRS track is Jungle Hunt
4.41 quick tip: you can just equip the mining pick and hit the nodes. It will get you the ores faster and avoid annoying bugs and glitches that can happen during the animation like where your camera is stuck and you can only run backwards. Had that happen too often in SE but strangely never in Oldrim.
this makes me want to try this challenge out, maybe without permadeath and novice difficulty since i'm so ass at this game that they should make a donkey race edit: 7:20 is too relatable, yesterday i got scared of my own summoned familiar
I also am gonna try this out but on my heavily modded game, and also skipping on the permadeath because I have no clue what bullshit my mods might throw at me. But as penance for taking out permadeath, I will require myself to bring the one and only Immersive Fat Idiot Son Rufus throughout the whole playthrough.

If you try this again to for Nord, the frost resistance is nice, but I think Battle Cry would be OP in this type of challenge just to stay alive and run away when overwhelmed
I was thinking the same thing but animal friend. Turning the tide in a tough fight with friendly bears would be an amazing way to save a permadeath run.
Just a tip. To cut down on mining animation you can hit ore like you do enemies. Duel wealding picks will net you the ore super quick. You are welcome.
Lol, I’m so glad you got sent into Halldir’s cairn. It’s honestly one of the best boss fights in the game, and can be pretty exhilarating even without perma death and all the work you did. I can’t imagine how good it felt win that fight.
I'm getting goosebumps right now, that wasn't a drop/falling Skyrim animation. I've played this game for enough hours to know that was a FUCKING JUMP. It wasn't just the stairs cause he even did it after Joov said something off of the rocks 😭💀
@Joov idea for a challenge. Complete the dark brotherhood quest line using only the restoration tree. That means no weapons, attacking, “accident” kills, or reverse pickpocketing poison. So all you can use is the poison rune spell and whatever cheese you can find.
The use of Sea Shanty 2 in the transition from attempt #1 to #2 is impeccable. I didn't even know RS3 had another version of it, thank you for showing me this gem Joov, even this version is amazing.
BEAR GRYLLS IS AVENGED This was very entertaining to watch. Always count on you to vreathe fresh life in these games. I think it might be funny to watch you struggle in Morrowind, but I dunno. Will we get a solstheim part 2, like the glowing sea?
There already was Solstheim 2. The last series we had there was the 2nd one, Joov had another video on it previously which was not permadeath, if i recall correctly. But again yes, there is Solstheim 3 incoming. Probably in a while from now, i would not expect it too soon.
@@bradleydelay Well for me Solstheim and the Iron Man were by far the most enjoyable to watch, to the point i watched all VODs of those in their entirety, mostly because they are the closest to regular Skyrim gameplay, but with an added challenge.
This is a really cool challenge. I'm very glad that you are around to make these skyrim videos. You make my day better and I think that is the best trait any human can have.
When I tell people ironman mode came from runescape they never believe me or they're in shock. its always a fun story to tell. It's so cool you took this challenge to skyrim and I can't wait to try it myself!
isnt the term "iron man" in reference to the first iron man movie, where Tony stark with nothing but scrap metal in a cave manages to make himself a scrap metal combat suit? like I know it's popularized because of OSRS but I could've swore it was in reference to that moment in the first movie
The problem with killmoves is that the player's strategy becomes relegated to stealth archery from miles away because they ignore your armor completely. If you don't invest primarily into health, higher levels enemies like Bandit Chiefs, Dragons, and so on will just insta-kill you through the best armor in the game.
I think you misremembered 'Repetitio et Mater et Filiorum' which means Repetion and mother and Children. What would make sense is 'repetitio est mater Studiorum', which sounds alike and means repetition is the mother of my children. This is derived from the more known 'Repetitio mater memoria', where studiorum is replaced by Memoria which means mind or memory and the est is placed at the end of the sentence (but isn't actually written because Elipses are often used for both esse and short phrases).
I was five minutes into the video when I realized that not being allowed to pick up or buy equipment also means no enchanting. This challenge is even more brutal than I had assumed.
@@OskarHowell99 You can also find them on enemies. Soul gems are not the problem, it's getting magical gear to disenchant so you can learn the enchantment. If I'm not mistaken, the only way to learn enchantments for your gear is to disenchant the gear you find or buy.
He can enchant, but with VERY limited options. As he said pretty early on, enchanted items given as a quest reward may be disenchanted. The Axe of Whiterun, for instance.
Everytime I see a video of you playing Skyrim I get this urge to play it, too! This game never gets old and I like the idea that you can only use what you have crafted. Do you think Skyrim will be a good game for a 100 days challenge? Like playing on the hardest (second hardest?) difficulty and try to achieve as most as possible.
Joov, I can't tell you the strange sense of motivation and courage this video gave me. IDK why, maybe it was your "you can't give up speech" between runs 1&2 but I woke up with no will to work on my projects or hobbies today and now something in this video has brought me to tears of joy.
I've been watching some of your videos here and there this past week but this run takes the cake and gained you my sub. I haven't been this invested in a long Skyrim video in a while and I genuinely laughed at your jokes " are you a miner too?" "No I'm an adult" God damn dude just take my sub. You've earned it fr! Keep up the great work and i look forward to watching both old and new vids.
Either your Latin teacher told you wrong, or you remembered it wrong. "Repetitio est mater filiorum" literally just means "repetition is the mother of children," but the actual phrase is "Repetitio est mater *studiorum* ", which does mean "mother of studies."
really great video man, you've got this awesome ability to make this game we've all played a million times really refreshing and interesting to watch. The videos are just getting better and better, keep it up!
I watched the full VODs and even caught a few streams. Decided to try this myself and for me what made the biggest difference was making and keeping a stock of paralysis poisons. I got some Canis root, imp stool and mora tapanella and planted it behind tundra homestead to keep me in stock.
Joov, I’ve been a lurker on here and the VOD channel since Whiterun. Normally my anxiety prevents me from interacting with humans any more than I need to, but I just have to say that this is your best video yet. Ending is pure catharsis lol. Keep it up joob!!
I came here after watching through the VODs, great work getting this challenge done, dude! :) Fine work The Rayman 2 music at 31:42 was a surprise! Used to love that game :)
17:22 Joov is so mature for this. He had every right to get hella mad and trash talk the game about how stupid that mechanic in this video, but instead he points out that he coulda made a smarter choice by getting out dodge. Again, hella mature of you dude. One of the many reasons your in my top favorite youtubers :)
This video is such an work of art. I got to laugh when you fooled around with banana peeling bandits. I stared at the screen, panicking, as you fought the bear army, begged for you to beat the draugr at the end. I smiled with joy as you eventually reached your goal and showed such genuine happiness. I started to think about smart ways to play the challenge, overthought your moves and had more than one moment where I was impresed by your skill and knowledge of the game. I even got to learn one thing or two. I honestly think that this is a prime example of what entertainment on youtube should look like, because it's easygoing yet still so genuine and high-quality. Keep it up, king.
You should do a challenge where you play the elder scrolls games, oldest to newest, as if you're playing the generations in a family. Idk HOW you'd do that but i think trying to make one "cohesive" storyline between them could be fun
Nice video, npcs jumping always were pretty common to me, at least in Fallout 4 and Skyrim. I never see they jumping in Fallout 3 and nv or in Morrowind and oblivion at least in the Xbox version of those games, I don't know if this changes in other versions of these games.
Killmoves have a lot of variance that can make them feel random, but always always do bonus damage simply for being a killmove. So if all it'll take is one more power hit and sone change to kill you... You're prolly gonna get killshot.
That final boss fight is without a doubt my favorite boss fight in the game. If you play it at the right level (low and not when you've already perfected your build) it is going to be a challenge. The small room and closed door completely removes the ability for any low level sneak build to work so you really gotta get creative. I was playing a bard in a modded play through. All I could use was illusion spells with a one handed weapon and thanks to some spell mods the illusion spell list was much larger and much more interesting. My strategy up until then had been sneaking. I ended up needing to run around the small room using a combo of Fus and an illusion spell in my left hand. The illusion spell, when cast on a target that is in the process of casting a spell themselves, would instead cause the effect of their spell to interact opposite. So damage spells would hurt themselves and healing/buffs would heal/buff me. It was a very long fight and incredibly fun.
Me watching a Joov video: “Hmm, yes, I am enjoying watching Joov suffer in yet another challenge ” Also me when Jumper starts playing at 27:48 : *Geometry Dash flashbacks intensifies* “ah, I see, it is I who must suffer now”
This is one of my absolute favorite videos, so I'm attempting an Iron Man run of my own now :) handful of changes/mods for personal preference, biggest one is no permadeath but instead the "Death is Highly Overrated" mod. Awesome video Joov, just letting you know that your content inspires others :D
Really interesting that you went with Orc over Redguard for this run since you're actually using archery and magic. Adrenaline Rush isn't as good for tanking combat but is very useful for running away.
27:31 You can only stagger enemies with heavy attacks when they are in an idle animation or blocking, bash while blocking is better for this because it will stun any enemy out of any animation.
I don’t know if you got this from my comment, but I’m so happy to see you also enjoyed the play style I played on Skyrim as a challenge too! It’s cool to see other people attempting this. As an avid OSRS Ironman, and an enjoyer of Skyrim, I found this challenging, but so enjoyable to get over hurdles! Thank you for playing this!
i've never actually played Runescape but this video is making me want to try it out, also I never knew you were a payday 2 fan, so this just makes you one of my favourite tubers now!

In your defense for “the Dragonborn comes” song, when it’s sang by the female characters, they say COMES a little louder than the rest of the song like they’re making sure you heard it. I busted out laughing the first time I heard heard it and i out loud went “why did she have to say it like that”
Depends on the voice type though.
It's the young_female_eager type that draws so much attention to that "COMES"

Watched this while grinding crafting in Old School Runescape. The editing is very well done and not too "in your face" like other videos where it's overloaded with memes. I usually watch several videos from a channel before deciding whether to subscribe or not, but this one video has earned an instant subscription from me.
15:54 Ghunzul locked you into the killcam just 20 frames after the game officially considered the first hit to have landed (which is 10 frames sooner than it even took your health bar to finish adjusting to your current HP). Man's got those frame-perfect fighting game reflexes.
Can’t get over the ending
Perfectly cut
Well done, Joov! Amazing vid
I'm late to this, but we didn't actually die! Twitch chat and I just came to an agreement that ending it RIGHT at that moment was more funny. I doubt we do a part two with this character but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Thank you for watching :)
@@Joov naaah should kept this on lock til ur next video the suspense was real, LMAO.
Some of your best work yet Joov, well done!
Didn't expect to see you here, Blarg
Why hello blarg
Oh shit hey Blarg.
Every day i learn new things about blarg
And im happy about that
Hello Blarg
"Are you a miner too?"
"No, I'm an adult" joke took me a second, but when it did, it cracked me hard
love your Skyrim challenge videos
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didnt get it right away 😂
omg i just got it i can't
When I heard that, my first thought was "hey, it really is a minor" and then he hit me with the joke.
Thanks!
He knows, chat was screaming it at him the whole time. He just couldn't get the hang of it
Counterpoint, I like snatching them out of the air like a grizzly bulking up for hibernation.
Was just binging his skyrim challenge videos so this is good timing.
Ikr, I was just watching the last vod for this video.
hi kamille bidan
genuinely one of the best skyrim vids ive seen in a hot minute. good work, would love to see even more
Funnily enough, this is basically how I play Skyrim normally (minus the permadeath).
I watched this live while in the hospital for anxiety and its the only thing that got me through that night. Thank you joov
Hope you’re doing ok ❤
I was in a similar spot not long ago.
Wish you all the best my friend.
Godspeed.
been there bro, get well soon
Sending love and hugs! You've got this!
I usually don't like watching videos above 20-25 minutes but this guy was able to encaptivate me for the entire time and kept me laughing and smiling throughout. I love this guy
if you liked this, find a video about a no-walking run. easily the greatest skyrim video that you think won't be that interesting and becomes bananas
@@apokatastasian2831 ymfah mentioned
This feels more like a hardcore Ironman run than an ultimate Ironman run and I am loving every minute. Time to go to the 2nd channel for the full VOD!
Easily one of the most entertaining challenge runs I've seen. This is a career defining moment for you. Congratulations, man. Hard-won.
While I didn't have Latin until Uni, where we had no choice but to learn it as future linguists, I know the quote you mentioned your teacher saying.
I remember it was the history teacher who said it to us, when we asked why are we constantly learing the same stuff in history.
The saying is "repetitio est mater studiorum" Repetition is mother of learning.
Yeah, threw me off too. Cause google was right for once. That latin phrase made no sense.
we have it as a proverb in estonian, kordamine on tarkuse ema, repetition/revision is the mother of knowledge/wisdom
@@sbydri I dont know if we use it as a proverb in Poland, but it can be easily translated into something that sounds natural in Polish so might be. "Powtarzanie matką nauki"
In Finnish too. "Kertaus on opintojen äiti."
also in English: "Repetition is the mother of learning"
I tried this with Frostfall, Requiem, craftable pouches, advanced needs, that advanced skill tree one and Another Life mods. Insane with permadeath but a good run overall
Oh my that sounds ROUGH good on ya if you stuck with it! I've never heard of craftable pouches how's that work?
@@Joov i had installed it from the steam workshop, then consolidated all my nexusmods with Vortex launcher. It allows you to craft pouches at leather crafting posts so you can increase carry capacity early. It's a bit OP though because with the right material you can hit a carry capacity of over 800 without a stamina increase, and the pouches count as an enchanted item so you can make one and disenchant it at a table to learn the carry capacity enchantment, bit of an exploit
@@phoenixdzk You and I have different opinions on what, "a bit" means, clearly.
@@phoenixdzk I don't know if there still is, but there was another version that nerfed the carry weight to 10-25 per pouch, which is a fair bit more balanced imo.
@@Perolith I'll check it out! The mod I got was 'Bandolier'
I had the paradox interactive definition of You only get one save lol, was thinking "that would be so easy"
I can't believe I have watched a 48 minute long video in one sitting. the editing is phenomenal and very fun. went by very fast!
Very cool challenge, sounds and looked ridiculously hard, great video, probably the greatest ending to a video I've ever seen!
Even before realizing this was your best video ever I was already taking notes on how I can pull this one off myself. And I'm never tempted by your insanity! Kickass job man, what a run!
man this challenge brought me back to skyrim because of how painful yet fun this run seemed to be
Superbly edited video. Absolute top tier entertainment. Following the VODs was a lot of fun.
"i fucking LOOOVE using the environment to vanquish my foes, i want to ragdoll them in unique ways and watch their bodies flail as they step on something silly and goofy like a banana peel!"
lmao i dont remember when i last subscribed to a channel, youre great
That NPC jump will keep me awake at night that had me SHOOK
Honestly this is such a cool idea! I kinda want to try it but I have such awful patience 😂 awesome video man
This video also made me realise that I have also NEVER seen an NPC jump in the 7/8 years I've been playing Skyrim
Not if you count getting slammed by a giant
This is my first challenge of yours I was able to watch in full on Diet Joov before the video came out, and I've got to say, it made the video itself 10x better! Can't wait to see more videos from you and catch more VODs!
"I cannot believe that happened again!"
Bandit: Weren't expecting that, were you!
The whole bear trap/bandit scene is really the heart of what skyrim is all about
The outro cannot be beat.
Nodes don't respawn if you don't do the animation
@@pleaseleaveamess They respawn within 30 ingame days
He didn't craft the pickaxe so no, he couldn't as it breaks the rules of the run of he equips it
@@Astrid-cs1vm you can't craft pickaxes anyways. They can be found throughout the world
@@hntr_official I am aware, one of the rules is that he could only equip armor and weapons he crafted himself. Did you not watch the video?
I love the fact that you bring back my favorite game. No matter what we get a new version of our beloved game. I can’t get enough of it
WOW im trapped in the matrix to have you reference ultimate ironman when you and it are the only things i ever watch mostly. thats crazy
That third attempt is actually an amazing run. Well done.
this makes me want to try this challenge out, maybe without permadeath and novice difficulty since i'm so ass at this game that they should make a donkey race
edit: 7:20 is too relatable, yesterday i got scared of my own summoned familiar
I also am gonna try this out but on my heavily modded game, and also skipping on the permadeath because I have no clue what bullshit my mods might throw at me. But as penance for taking out permadeath, I will require myself to bring the one and only Immersive Fat Idiot Son Rufus throughout the whole playthrough.
same.. i've been looking for a way to get back into skyrim in a way that would be fun and a bit fresher cuz i have played it too many times
@litchtheshinigami8936 if you haven't got the Inigo mod then get him. He's a follower that makes navigating the hell hole of Skyrim better, (I love the game.) There's a lot of quest mods that make it better

Even before he said anything I had to pause, I was taken aback.
@Joov idea for a challenge. Complete the dark brotherhood quest line using only the restoration tree. That means no weapons, attacking, “accident” kills, or reverse pickpocketing poison. So all you can use is the poison rune spell and whatever cheese you can find.
that last boss fight with the ethereal ghost Draugr was honestly the best way to play Skyrim's combat
as an avid osrs ironman player who found your videos last year through reccommendations, this is sick af
This is my favorite stream VOD and then final video of yours to watch!
The use of Sea Shanty 2 in the transition from attempt #1 to #2 is impeccable. I didn't even know RS3 had another version of it, thank you for showing me this gem Joov, even this version is amazing.
BEAR GRYLLS IS AVENGED
This was very entertaining to watch.
@@Rumcajs981 right I forgot the "all skills at 1" run. Part of what I saw from that I really want to see in the next part.
If you don't invest primarily into health, higher levels enemies like Bandit Chiefs, Dragons, and so on will just insta-kill you through the best armor in the game.
iirc killmoves only trigger on the last enemy so wouldn't having a follower just make you immune?
I think you can mine soul gems in Blackreach?
:) Fine work
The Rayman 2 music at 31:42 was a surprise!
You're prolly gonna get killshot.
i felt your pain with these uncalled for instakills
Me watching a Joov video: “Hmm, yes, I am enjoying watching Joov suffer in yet another challenge ”
Also me when Jumper starts playing at 27:48 : *Geometry Dash flashbacks intensifies* “ah, I see, it is I who must suffer now”
Joov: Damn how dose she keep avoiding it
Agnes: PLEASEE MERCY!!
There's a bunch of great OSRS content out there -- Swampletics, By Release, and "Then we fight" series are great places to start
It's a pretty chill game, just lots of endless tasks to do to keep you occupied. You will get no real world work done. :) Also it has some of the best quests in the MMO genre.
Did not expect the baseball crossover. Big win.
