This particular pad thickness didn’t allow for a pen unless it was out side of the package. Shannon and I went round and round about it and then we both agreed we would rather use a separate pen anyway! Lol. We are kinda snobby about pens around here. Also, the ones I receive don’t have pens and it isn’t a deal breaker for me. So hopefully everyone can still enjoy these without the pen holder or edit it to include. Remember, my projects are always just jumping off points for you guys. Thanks
If you make the pocket for the pad narrower and push it to the score line on the right of where the pad will go, you can put a pencil on the left side of the pad. It doesn’t have the bulk of a pen.
@@jewelywest actually we tried that. The pens and pencils we tried were just slightly too thick. This is a very thin folio. If you don’t mind a slight bump, go for it. Or it can be edited to fit inside. Thanks
10:31 -- Great idea to use as a craft/hobby project book. There is always a need for project organization!! 😅😊🎉 I love some of the other comments about making them for co-workers, teachers, gifts, etc. Also adding a coordinating paper at the top of the legal pad would be a nice touch, or using velcro dots to save on the cost for mass producing instead of the magnets.
Just wanted to add a big "thank you!" to all the other comments. I've finished 12 of these in the past week. I'm making each one different for Father's day gifts. I'm having so much fun using up my treasured special papers. The ideas just keep coming on combinations and themes. I'm so glad I found you on UA-cam. I'm a new subscriber now. You have such a great ability to teach. I appreciate you so much.
I made something like this many years ago but made it to hold sticky notes and page markers with a pen holder and a photo frame. The recipient loved it. She found it to be very handy and called it her little portable desk. Tks for sharing.
I made something similar using 2 sheets of 8 1/2 X 11 card stock. I scored at 3, 9 and 9 1/4. It gave me enough space for a pen or a mechanical pencil. I totally love the idea! Thank you for inspiring me. I'm new to paper crafting and I'm having a great time!
Maymay, I think it would be extra nice to cover the top of the legal pad with the coordinating paper (the gray part that says Members Mark). Also, you can take a Pentel RSVP ballpoint pen (they have clear barrels) and open it up and slide in some coordinating paper that shows through the clear barrel...super cute!
I couldn't wait to make this one it was so fast and fun to make. Made it for my Granddaughter for school. I put an eyelet don't have the magnets. Then nice ribbon. Thanks nice project
Lots of comments so maybe someone already suggested it. When putting the magnets on, especially the 2nd one, if you put the legal pad inside, it would help square up the flap easier.
These small legal pad folios are a best seller at all my craft fairs! Thank you so much for creating all your folio projects. Please may I request one more😂. How about a large legal pad folio or at least one that will hold a 8.5 x 11 size pad. Thanks Maymay, love your channel
Exactly what I need MayMay! I also wanted to mention that I do appreciate the measurements plus just where one needs to go back & reference our project. Love this. B e well, be safe & TYFS
May May I just want to thank you for starting more of these shorter projects I’ve been following you for a long time but it was extremely overwhelming to watch the hour plus play backs. I’m enjoying Christmas in July and I remember why I started following in the first place and now there is some material I can watch and not feel guilty that I need to be doing my house stuff. Thanks 😊
I just watched your video and immediately thought about my husband because he uses the large legal pads all the time. I'm going to make him some of these folders using some file folders I have with some manly papers. Thanks for getting my creative juices going.
Thanks for making something besides folios. I know many viewers like them ,but I don't take many pictures. Nor do many of my friends. I do like 5he ideas you've given us for gifts. Keep up the great work 👍
You just gave me my office Christmas gift for this Christmas, I make the 11 people in our office a homemade gift for Christmas every year, sometimes that's hard cause it's men and women.... thank you!!!!
Same here! I work in a school with about 15 other ladies in our hallway. If I start now, I have plenty of time to make one for everyone if I make about one a week!
How about putting a monogram on the front? I put a large E on mine and it looks wonderful! Also I did not have a thin enough magnet so I used Velcro instead.
Have become a folio fanatic and this will be a welcome and easy addition. I was thinking, could you consider doing one of these for the 4x6 notepads which would be more purse friendly. Also, please please I am waiting on the 4x4 folio. Keep up the good work!!
I think this folio is so smart Maymay. It's useful for anyone. Great gift idea. The pocket would have been handy for mask templates I sewed in 2020. I love this folio!!🌷🌷
I made over 50 of those for teacher friends for Christmas last year. I have one that's five years old that's still in decent shape. I love this new take on making one. Thanks, Maymay!
Yes.. This folio is SEW CUTE!! You crack me up, Maymay. Also, I have done the sticker thing before. Well, it was actually a Cricut thing. I couldn't find a piece and I looked and looked all over, on the floor, on the mat, everywhere. I knew I took it off the mat.. Ended up cutting another one, and when I went to put my mat away, it was stuck to the back of it. It was a new mat, so the paper was a little sticky itself. I knew I'd find it as soon as I didn't need it.. haha I felt so silly. Anyway, just a little me too thing there. Thanks for another wonderful tutorial. Really loving all the folios, albums, etc. I love cards too, don't get me wrong, but I tend to gift more of these than cards, so I really like it when you come up with more of them.
I think that is very cute and would be a good gift for that hard to buy person. Or to have something on hand when you need a last minute gift. I would add some paper to the top of the pad to cover up the manufacturer information. The inside pocket is good for when you remove a sheet and still want to keep it. Thanks for sharing!
I'm wondering if you can make one of the gussets just a tad wider to include a place to put a pen or a mechanical pencil? I totally love the idea! I might adjust the measurements to fit Post-it notes for the staff at my doctor's office. 💕
Super cute:) o no Maymay now that you’re sewing again you’ll need to go on a Shop Hop:) ask your sewing store they can tell you if they participate in one :) it’s a lot of fun:) normally it’s for quilting but you don’t have to be a quilter :) tfs:)
Maymay, I ABSOLUTELY love this. I am going to make some of these for our granddaughters teachers. You give me SO VERY MUCH inspiration to try things I never thought I could do. Thank you so much for sharing all that creativity that is piled high in your brain. Also thank you & Vinnie for all God's word that has SO, SO MANY times gotten me through a day when I thought I was on the verge of crumbling. Your You Tube channel & all your videos help me each day to believe in myself more, & to become a stronger person, I refuse to give up on anything, but most of all, you put me back on my favorite path to the Lord. God Bless you, Vinnie & your entire staff. 🙏🙏🙏💗💖💝💞💕😍🤩You all are angels here on earth 😇😇😇
You could make the base and pad pocket from thin chipboard or recycle some cereal boxes- it won't last forever but could last at least a few months. You could really get into the longevity with laminating the cover too. I've not tried that yet but I'm hoping to get one soon. I love how this came out! It's great watching how all these different folios come together. Definitely gets the creativity goin!
Maymay, thank you so much for this legal pad folio....I will be making a few of these. I did make about 10 or so of the other legal pad holder and gave them as extra gifts in some birthday gifts and some Christmas gifts. I ran across my last one a couple of weeks ago so now it is on my desk.... TFS 🥰 🥰 🥰 🥰
OMG Maymay. WOW. Another Brilliant and Ingenious project and it was so much fun watching your creative process and seeing this Simple pad turn into a Magnificent Gift!! Gosh you never e to amaze with what you do and the way you do it!! Your Ideas sure makes it be one Magnificent Gift!! For those who do craft fairs this probably would be a winner!! Thanks for your Outstanding Tutorial and sharing your Tremendously Terrific Tips, Tricks & Techniques!! YOU so ROCK!!! Joan Smith
I'm so excited. I was planning to make folios for some folks for Christmas but kinda feel like it's more of a feminine gift. I don't want the couples to think I'm gifting only to the wives. Now I can make the husband's a legal pad holder that matches! Same size. Same paper pad. Perfect! Thank you May May!
I’m starting to put together “welcome back to school” gift bags for my chemistry team at work. This will be a great addition to their goodie bags. Thank you for all of the great ideas.

Definitely a pen snob. 😁

I can't imagine you have any spare time. Love all your shows and projects. God has really blessed your entire staff with crafting talent. Blessings.
I think a little strip of paper over the paper pad binding would be cute too. Love this project!!!!

I used to be cards only and totally simple ones at that! I'm enjoying Maymay's channel very much, she has the greatest ideas. :)
I enjoy your projects and videos. Ty for all you do you are a fabulous teacher.
I totally agree 👍! Thank You, May May!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 spare time! That made me laugh.

What about using a hook and loop closure? That would be more economical than the magnet if you are making a number of them.
I couldn't wait to make this one it was so fast and fun to make. Made it for my Granddaughter for school. I put an eyelet don't have the magnets. Then nice ribbon. Thanks nice project

Great idea! I would also cover the top part of the pad, so you don’t see Sam’s logo…
Love love love
NICE GIFTS FOR CHRISTMAS
Cute way to use note pad. It could also be a prayer journal.
I 💚💛💛💚 this project!
I am a retired teacher, and I would have loved to have one of those as a teacher gift! So meaningful and useful. I love gifts from the heart ❤!
Great gifting idea.

Hello May
I love your videos.....clear and easy to follow....and I love ur ideas. Thank you to you and all who help.
Just love this idea for creative friends whose passion is other than papercraft!
So cute🌺
One minute in and I already know this is going to be a staple in my crafting. I love this!
A major game changer. Love, Love, Love!
Laminating the folio will ensure that it lasts for a very long time. Love this idea, thanks Maymay x

You guys are a group of geniuses. Thank you. 😊
I love this idea. I think I would add a little pen holder. Also, laminating the pocket that holds the legal pad would make it more sturdy.
I was thinking the same thing. Laminating the cover and pocket would make it last longer.
Love this idea❤️
I made 66 of those notepad holders for my sister for her coworkers not long after you made that video! They were a hit!! Thank you!!
Funny that you are showing this now, I turned a folio into this note pads holder shortly after making my first folio!

Loved it 😍
Great idea
That’s so cute!!!
One suggestion is to add a pen loop on the front right flap so you’ll always have it available to make notes.
Love love love this. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful
Love this! TFS! My thought would be to laminate the cover just to help it last longer. ❤️🇨🇦
Wonder if the magnets would hold that
I was thinking the same thing, especially since decorations are flar.
Good idea
How about inserting a few envelopes in the pocket. Then add a small pocket on top of pocket for stamps.
Great idea!
Adorable!! That is such a great folio and so versatile.
Love this!! Thinking Back to School gifts for my daughter’s teachers. Also, I think I’ll cover the header of the tablet to make it coordinate.

Yes. Very easy to add a pen holder to this. Plenty of space!
This design is too thin to hold a pen but you can certainly adjust to anything, this is just a jumping off point.
