I remember the earlier days of UA-cam before copyright infringement, someone posted all of Joan Crawford's early films in their entirety it was great to see them all. Wish i had downloaded some of them.
I just met Lee Majors a little over a month ago at a Retro Expo in Plano, Texas. I was a big Six Million Dollar Man fan. He was there, with Lindsay Wagner, signing autographs. Such a nice guy! After going on about how much I loved The Six Million Dollar Man and even had the action figure, I then mentioned this movie. I told him about how the first horror movie I ever saw was with my grandmother. I stayed overnight at her home and we watched a late night movie. This was in the mid-70s. The movie was Straight Jacket. I told him "I saw Joan Crawford chop you up with an ax and it scared me to death!" He laughed. I'm sure he didn't expect to hear anything about that movie at the Retro Expo. He said - Wow that was a long time ago! That was 1963. I was in my mid twenties and I'm 83 now. He looks great, for his age, and is still easily recognizable. That was such a fun day!
Because back then, horror movies didn't have to have tons of blood and guts spilling and spewing everywhere. More was left to the imagination. The audience was smarter back then.
You see, that is why Greta Garbo retired from films at 36. IF Garbo wanted to keep making films she would have eventually been forced to do films like this, swinging an ax or portraying a psycho serial killer like Betsy Palmer in a Friday the 13th type movie. Can you imagine poor Garbo swinging an ax like Joan in this film? After Joan had made so many great films such as Mildred Pierce she was reduced to making this kind of B level horror trash for a living. I'm surprised that Joan wasn't cast as one of the zombies in Night of the Living Dead! Or maybe she was cast but knew that she had to draw the line somewhere.
Garbo was wise to retire at the peak of her career. She is one of the greatest actresses in film history. Joan Crawford is far below her in fame and talent. Garbo made scores of great films. Crawford made two great films, Mildred Pierce and Harriet Craig. The rest of her films were junk.
@@SymphonyBrahms Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Possessed, The Women were also great films. Joan was a high quality actress, even in these B movies...
@@SymphonyBrahmsNobody even remembers Garbo and her movies don't hold up today. Her brand of acting seems outdated and forced, and she ran away when people no longer wanted to see that kind of picture.

They were all available on video to rent or buy at the video stores before the Internet put them all out of business.
At least 5 great ones on UA-cam FOR FREE!!
Remember in the early days of youtube when it was rare to get an add
@@robertriley1569I remember MTV was VIDEOS.

Omg Joan was always so so beautiful throughout her whole life
I love this movie, so campy and unintentionally hilarious!
Interesting twist at the end, though even if it was reminiscent of Psycho.
What is so hilarious about chopping up two people with an ax?
@@jackanthony976. Because Joan clearly was hamming it up🤣🤣🤣🤣
All that ax swinging and not a drop of blood.
It was 1964, you’re lucky if you saw a swinging ax.
Lmaooo true
@@xmanxavier77. Had to wait 10 Years for Blood😂😂😂😂

She's Joan, that's why
I like how she's trying to sneak into the room slowly but you hear the sound of her jewelry 😁
My favourite actress legend Joan Crawford
She played this role really well but it`s so funny seeing her playing 20 something years old and that she would have such a young husband.
Lol this opening scene gave me nightmares for years when I was a kid 😂
"No wire hangers!"
This movie is beyond camp. The ultimate gas lighting horror flick. It's terrifying!
1:17-1:22: “Tinaaaaaa!!!!!!!!! Bring Me The Axe!!!!!!!!” 🪓🪓🪓🪓🪓🪓😟😟😟😟😟😟
This movie has got to be as campy as Rocky Horror! Love it!
And there's a sleeping Lee Majors as the unsuspecting victim.
No way she looked 29
My favorite movies love
She was killing a doll.
You're kidding - You mean she really didn't axe-murder two actors?
Guess you could say Joan temporarily lost her head, and then Lee Majors permanently lost his head.
Love her little walk then throwing her cigarette
What's with the clinging
Her bracelets
Where’s the spurting chocolate syrup?
Truly horrific.
Oh, Mother.
You’re incorrigible.
the charm bracelet is very annoying
It looks like the same charm bracelet Ruth Gordon wore in Rosemary's Baby.
I love it !
if that was me i prob woulda snapped too...can't really blame her. love this movie though.
I TOLD YOU NO WIRE HANGERS!!!!!
LOL. This is hilarious.
that must be the most chaste love affair i have ever seen portraid on film
Puta que pariu, quero assistir esse filme

I saw this as a young kid. Thought it was a grade B movie with poor acting. I think even more so today.
Still More Fun than a Lot of Today’s Movies😂😂😂😂😂😂
ok joan swush that tush from side to side
