What a great idea. The interior of Portugal is uniquely beautiful and unspoiled. It's like a step back in time and not to be missed. A bit more tourist activity in the interior would certainly benefit the small towns and villages.
I hope this takes off. Meaning, that there are many travelers to Portugal who like us, stick to Lisbon, Porto, Algarve and Silver Coast. The interior and areas up and down the border of Spain are amazing. I also hope it catches on so other countries might pick up on the idea and do something similar.
In 2018, The first time I visited Portugal, I walked from Santiago de Compostella to Porto. It just worked out that way because I had little money and I got a cheap flight from Monte Negro to Santiago. I totally fell in Love with Portugal on that trip and I now live here. I enjoy long hikes. Im looking forward to doing more hiking. Im often amazed at the beauty of Portugal and also the fact that there is almost no one out in the rural areas. You can visit ancient megalithic sites and spectacular coastal areas and its all open with very few people.
For nature lovers, this will be a fantastic way to see Portugal!

There are many places to hike without anyone around.
