@@sky3_ow I think it's just a gimmick, It doesn't take much effort at all to punch with the weight of a grown man. Short power punches from an amateur are about 150-190 pounds force, that's more than the black board. Only if you're scared of the board it won't break.
@@joshee6385 ur probably right about that one. Also, random question, is ur surname Francis?

It's not just the thickness of the board that determines how difficult it is to break. It's also the quality of the board. A board with a knot in it, will be significantly more difficult to break than a board without one.

Also, the way wood breaks when hit is really similar to this. Wood is pretty much a bunch of tiny straws held together by a resin. These straws all run the same way and when when you try to break a wood board your trying to get it to snap along these straws. This makes it so when your breaking a board your not cutting the boards wood with force as much as you are separating the straws.

@@Aphexiook... that makes sense but *how* do people not know about this variety of board? They’ve been around for years and are widespread
@@RhysticTutor1 I'm not sure if I'm going to like a complete idiot saying this but, I think it's because they know that people break things with moves like the one-inch punch, but they don't know how much equipment or techniques for breaking things there are, like pushups for example, I could know that I can build muscles in my arms with pushups but I wouldn't know much about different types of pushups or techniques as a beginner. I don't know how to explain better than that.
As someone who bruised A knuckle trying to break one of those, those are not easy to break😭
I used them exact breaking boards in a martial arts class when I was 10-12 years old. I was a light built boy with no fat on me but I managed to break the black board. I went up belt grading pretty quickly due to my dedication but my Sensei had issues with his hip therefore forcing him to retire. I could have been on my black belt in 4 years (including the year I started doing martial arts) but going to a different town and back was not only time consuming but also a waste of petrol. If I get a chance to do martial arts again, I would try to become a black belt and become a Sensei.
