Ive just purchased one with a 220w solar panel. Upto now I'm impressed
Another great review, so many on the market gets confusing but find this all makes that bit clearer, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Great review as usual. I now have one on the way as my first dip into the power station game. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy it!
Hi John, looking for a bit of advice, I run a VW T5 and with the set up I have, solar etc, I can off grid easily for about 3 days, however I do not have any 240v unless hooked up, I have been looking at power stations to try and extend that time without running the engine and wondering what your in your opinion is the better option on the market, the most power hungry item would be my wife’s hair dryer at 1600w, my other intended use would be to power the van via the electric hook up, so only really running fridge and charging leisure battery, and in the winter, the diesel heater for a couple of hours a day, usually in the morning before I escape the quilt, thanks John, great channel keep up the great work and best wishes to Mandy, Kev
Hi John, l am after a larger power station, l have watched this review and also the review you did on the Affery about a year ago, out of the two of them which one would you now buy? 1500 watts is plenty for what l need.
Thanks John another informative review looks good
Hi John, Thanks for sharing supper cool bit of equipment 👍✨
Thanks for watching!
Hi the 2000w aferiy 2000w ones that are badged by various manufacturers vdl for 799 and seen one for 749 aren't these better value for the money 2000w output 240v i have aferiy mine was 899 on offer 12 month ago brilliant kit what do u think ?
I own one. Great all in one, good quality components and amazing price. Only issue as a van dweller is that it will ONLY charge at 1500w, there is no option to choose the charging amount (like my EcoFlow) so you need to make sure your inverter can deal with that!
Thanks for sharing, I have seen others with that option too and agree it's great if you have a smaller inverter.
Do you have any issues charging yours? I find the higher the load it's under, the less watts come in when charging (only via the cigarette lighter so far). I.e. I'm currently drawing 111w and only getting 13w in. I've contacted Vtoman and am awaiting a response.
If I understand correctly, you are charging from socket and drawing current at the same time?
That being the case, the 13 watts displayed will be the Net gain and not the input value.
(example 111 watts from charge / minus current draw from output of 98 watts will show 13 watts total charge rate)
Note, the “cigarette” DC socket connections will get extremely hot if when charging. You might want to consider not using pass- through charging unless on AC or Solar charge.
Great explanation. Thanks. Makes sense now.
Hi John, can I ask your advice on the Victron Orion Converter you fitted some time ago that charges power banks via the solar input, mine works fine with my engine running putting 500w into my Everi power bank, but I’ve notice when I connect the power bank to Solar it refuses to accept the 60v input and so bleeps! My question is if I connect the Victron converter to my “Leisure batts instead of my starter Batt” could I then assume it would charge my Power bank and at the same time my Leisure batts would be topped via the solar? Thanks
Does your power bank support 60v of solar?
It’s best to comment on the relevant video so the info is there for others too.
Thats a nice bit of kit John, shame about the poor visibility of the screen though. Lots to choose from these days.nice review again John. Cheers 👋🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻😎
Great Review John 👏
Be safe
Thanks, you too!
The only down side of this product that I could find, was the solar input is between 30V and 60V. I purchased one, but it wasn't compatible with my existing 21V solar panel, so returned it.
I thought it seemed odd too, if you can charge it from 12v then the mppt should be able to handle 12v up to 60v.
All these power banks now are so good, self built campers just need these now, maybe not for full timers. I’ve just got the new DJI power bank 1000, I’ll probably use it more than my full electrics. 👍
Hi John looking at power stations what make would u recommend value for money.
That's a big ask, there are a lot of considerations only you can make, think of what power you need, your budget, do you need remote connectivity, how fast do you need it to charge etc. I will say you should avoid Jackery though, lots of bad reviews on their kit.
Hi John, you probably won’t remember but I spoke to you at the show at Harrogate in March,I mentioned we had just bought a new motor home, and we were getting accessories for it,I have seen your review on the croman flash speed 1500,and had one delivered last week, can you please tell me what solar panels I need, and do they have to be Vtoman,we hope Mandy is keeping well, thanks Steve

Hi John seen your review so I bought one,can you please tell me what solar panels I need to thanks Steve
Check the tech spec of your unit for the max input volts and watts, then you'll know the largest solar panel you can get.
Looks cool john what's the heater called ?
It’s this www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07V3FQ69Y/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_D9F02GDFCVCEDS38GB74?linkCode=ml2&tag=gadjoh06-21
