In USA I use an AVC2 to turn on the EVSE at the Charge Station and then charge up all my batteries, don't have a Bluetti - just some Valence 12v batteries and a NOCO battery charger.
Mostly, I charge house and traction packs from rooftop Solar.

Hi Mel, we are still very happy with your advice to buy the EV adapter!
With our ANWB-chargecard, (sistercompagny to the British AA) we managed to charge our leasurebattery this winter in the Netherlands and Germany and worked fabulous.
2 weeks ago we tryed to charge with the same ANWB chargepass in France, Spain and Portugal but couldnt get acces to those chargepoints.😢
I might have to look out for a chargepass that also works in those country's but we dont want to pay a fee for conscription like with the ANWB chargepass.
Think that we all have to look into that so you dont get stuk come wintertime in Europe.
Funny thing was that just prior to your video on this EVplug, i bought us a British plug to convert to the Dutch plug when we went to visit London in the last weekend of February to celebrate posthumously the marriage of mascha's deceased parents.
With the EV plug it would have been so much more easier😅
Never used the British plug, still lin our van waiting for another visit to the UK.😊
Have a nice summer and love your videos, keep 'm coming❤
    Greetings from Carlo & Mascha
#waffelonawednesday quick question: how did you get your curtains back for you windows since you placed the flares on the sides of your van? Could you show us please?

I've ordered a EV charge cable for our motorhome and agree it could be a game changer. It has a "Type 2" plug. I've since noticed that some EV charge points that have type 2, are tethered and some are untethered. Can you only use untethered charge points, or can you connect your cable to the cable coming from a tethered charge point. Cheers.

I have one on order right now. Managed to get it from Bluetti shipped for $448.01. But my AC200P I could never get to run my diesel heater.

    • @BigVanSmallWorld
      @BigVanSmallWorld  Місяць тому

That’s why I always recommend the AC200max as it has a 12v 30amp outlet and will run the entire vans 12vs including diesel heater and fridge 👍

    • @AquaTech225
      @AquaTech225 Місяць тому +1

@@BigVanSmallWorld I’m getting ready to get me another heater again. Due to the first one I got pissed with it an tossed it out. But that was after Bluetti wouldn’t power it.
An I also spent like $98 of a power brick that should have easily had the wattage an amperage.
But unfortunately that worked neither. So it may of just been an issue with the heater.
But following tossing them two things out. I remembered just what you said.
I never paid much mind to that plug being it’s that damn aviation plug. Just never had anything that used that.
But since than made up an aviation plug to xt90 for that port. Only difference between the 200p and 200max with that plug is. It’s 30amp on the max. On the 200p it’s 12v 25amp. But even than that should be more than enough since them heaters seem to run right over the 10amp threshold of the other plug.
So all should be well this go round

Great piece of kit Mel 👍If this gets too popular and EV drivers start complaining, waiting for a charge (I read in some of the comments that some wouldn't be so courteous) signs will go up, EV drivers only or face prosecution/fine...cameras catching reg plate numbers. The few, will yet again spoil it for the rest 🙄
For this to last, curtesy and common sense goes a long way I recon.

With one of those adaptor cables you said in another video you could just plug the power station directly into the adaptor cable at the EV charging station no? I have this idea of charging up a power station then being able to transport this to my caravan (which I don't want to move) and being able to charge up the leisure batteries on site. Thanks for all the useful info.

Interesting video Mel but I am a little confused with the spec of this unit. Amp hours = watt hours divided by voltage.
If the description says it's 1152 watt hours and we divide that by 12 volts that gives us 96 amp hours. However the description contradicts this by saying the unit is only 36 amp hours.
Am I miss understanding something or have the manufacturers got it wrong?
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Keep up the good work

If you were to plug in one 1800w device on one socket and a 700w device on the other that is a no-no! Whereas if you had a 1200w device on one socket and 600w on the other that should be okay.

Mel, what are you thoughts regarding Ulez & 15 min cities. If they get rolled out this will have a big impact on not just the normal motorist but the campervan community also. It just seems to be a waiting game at present but could really screw up vanlife for a lot of people. My van is not Ulez complaint & I'm in a catch 22 situation like most people invested time & money in a van build but now concerned this will bring an end to my own personal vanlife experience. Don't mean to be negative but trying to be realistic as it is a frightening time. Ulez , 15min cities & road charging doesn't seems to be brought up in conversation by Vanlife UA-camrs.

I don't think people understand that the 15 minute city is designed to stop you moving wherever you are it's not something you can drive around and avoid - thankfully they are being met with resistance.
What people need to consider is this there is a push to move people to online shopping and food deliveries and the roads being quieter will assist in this so there's a motive.
The one in Oxford there's restrictions how many times you're "allowed" to move it's not good for anyone but a nightmare for vanlifers.

Got caught out driving through Bristol and it’s new ULEZ. I didn’t know they had put one in place, drove up to the Brunell bridge to see signs saying I was about to enter the zone. No clear signs to avoid it, but thought I had. Didn’t go home for a few weeks only to find a fine and the half price offer had already expired. 😡😡
On looking online I saw others complaining that going south on the M5 they followed signs for the airport only to see signs for the ULEZ with no opportunity to turn off!
      Just another cash cow con.

Do the British never think of their actions when "getting a bargain" as costing other sellers by not having a level playing field to operate on?
All's fair though if now, caused by your own country, things are more expensive or not available at all, because not a thought or care was given in the past when times were tough for them.

Battery will degrade to about 80% at which point it plateaus and stays there until something else critical happens to cause the vehicle to be "written off".
Same could be said about an internal combustion engine if the engine itself develops a fault over 5-10 years, but still see a lot of old cars that are likely unroadworthy still driving around.
