Ahhh.. so the problem is lubrication. I was going to trash my nail gun. Good thing I checked here. I didn't have to take apart all those stuff like you. I just used a WD-40 white lithium grease can, aimed and sprayed at the piston, and just waited 10 seconds and it fired flawlessly. Saved me a nail gun. Thanks.

This was a great video. I did each step as you suggested and it still wasn't working so I put it back together following your instructions and was going to take it to a shop to get fixed and then I saw your very last comment about the air pressure wheel. I adjusted it and it worked! Kind of wish I'd seen that first, but at least it's well lubricated now! Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for your thorough and patient video - and now my P320 works again! Mine is pretty old and slightly different (and a reconditioned model) from yours, but you showed me the important assembly points and gave me the confidence to oil it up. Like others, the striker shaft was a little rusty, my main problem was lack of lube in the Piston. Can't lie, the first trigger press after reassembling, I got the same sounds with no nail, and felt SO sad. Pressed it again and BAM - we're nailing again! Wish I could give your video five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Thank you! I was ready to get rid of the nailer - I had cleaned the channel as the troubleshooting suggested and that didn't work. oiling and working the piston solved the issue. I hadn't used the nailer in about 4 years and there was even a little rust on the piston. So, I will use it more often. Thank you again.
Nailed it! Thank you for taking the time to make a thorough and clear video. My nailer stopped working. After about 20 minutes, thanks to you, I was back up and running.
Just curious, but did this fix last? When I tried this it worked for a couple days then I had to do it again as it continued to stick. I tried motor oil this time as the tool oil seems to thin to work long term, and Ryobi gives no guidelines that I'm aware for where or how much of what oil to properly lubricate the machine with. For years I just kept trickling in a little tool oil every 50 shots or so where the hammer tongue thingy pokes out, but that became more and more futile over time.

So I just used this video to fix my Ryobi Brad nailer, and it was so easy. I thought I was going to have to buy a new tool, but it's working flawlessly now! Much Thanks!
This solution worked for me as well. Even after I had manually moved the piston fully back and forth after lubrication I only got one solid nail out before it failed again. However, I relented and gave it another 3 or 4 tries and got another nail to come out. Another couple of misfires and then now I was able to get the rest of the nails done (about 10 more) that I needed to finish the project with consecutive successful fires. I think that did the trick and only took me about 10 minutes to accomplish after I watched your tips. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I watched this before reading the trouble shooting manual. I was having same issue and the manual advised simply to clean the nail track with cleaner, I used a Lysol wipe and wiped the whole track before taking unit apart. It now works perfectly. I hope it works for others so you do not have to take apart the tool.
Thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!!! Compared to another video of liberally squirting lubricant, this was concise and dead-on. I had to watch and pause it to fully understand and after freeing up the driver (it was really stuck) reassembled the unit to find it still wasn't firing properly. Realized I omitted the step of working the piston up and down several times, did so, reassembled and it works every time. I'm committed to Ryobi with many tools and batteries and this is the only tool I've had issues with. Moving parts require lubrication and sometimes repair, fact of life. You got a subscriber today.

My nail gun was exactly doing what yours did.Your video was the ONLY AND how put it together again. I didn't have to go as far as taking the whole thing apart. Fortunately only loosening the top of the gun and adding oil while the gun was resting on it's back. I also loosened the wheel at the back of the gun and dripped oil in there as well. I tried it, the first few times it was not firing but then it went. I must say I already added oil last night. Thank you so much! I was able to finish my project today. Absolutely love this gun.

Thank you! This worked. I had to use some penetrating oil in addition to the 3 in 1 silicone oil to get mine to work. But thanks, your video saved me. I was in a time crunch and needed the airstrike immediately. Fixed it in about 30 minutes.

Thanks for sharing this. I was in the middle of making a footboard for for a king bed I'm building, and encountered the sane problem. The gun was going through the motions of making the sound as if it waa going to fire, but then no nail. Ours was also only about 2 years old and we only used recently when I started my project. We've actually encountered issues with a few Ryobi products we own that ended up being defective, so we were pretty choked this might be our third faulty tool. We followed everything in your video and sure enough I was able to finish my footboard tonight. Your advice hit the nail on the head, pun intended.

Thanks to your video , My favorite Ryobi tool is working again. Just as your other viewers ,I opened the front and rear devises to adding lubricant left it upside down for 20 minutes. Now It's like new.

Great video - defined my problem exactly. I tried this once and got 2 shots out of it before it froze up again. I lubed it up a 2nd time, more "liberally" than before - and it worked well. Either that or my wife threatening to replace it!

I just tried it and it worked. Thank you for the video. I had taken it half way apart and it worked for 4 nails and that was it. This made it work and also the adjustment in the back also helps.
Great vid, I almost gave up. Oiling the pin didnt work, pulled it apart as you showed and flipped it on its back and soaked it, then got it to fire only just occasionally. Winding the pressure wheel backwards and forwards heaps and heaps constantly ( and dont give up ) while giving it more of a soaking eventually got it to fire more and more without it seizing again. All back together again with the knowledge they do need maintenance despite the instructions saying nothing. It lives again...yaaaaaay : )

Just found out mine wasn’t firing ‘cause there was a jam behind the firing pin, but I couldn’t see the jam until I started dismantling the gun - per your video! Different issue than yours, but you helped me solve it! Thanks for this! ☺️
This! This was exactly my issue. My piston was firing but not completely retracting back into the gun to fire the next nail. Hence the “thunk” without the nail. This fixed it up perfectly. Thank you!

2 minute + 1 hour fix! Thank you for this video. I was able to fix my non-firing P320 without taking it apart. Understanding the problem from your video, I first took out the nails, then released the front jam clean out mechanism, pulled back the safety and watched to see if the striker shot out. It did not, for 3 or 4 times, but then it did. At that point, I put the nailer on its back and put some 3in1 oil down the rail. I let that sit for an hour to let the oil work its way down into the cylinder. It now works 100% of the time again. Thank you for your video, but I hope others will first try my simple fix before they tear apart the nailer. I plan on doing this as routine maintenance from now on. Again, thanks for the video.

I fixed my p320 per your step by step instructions and my piston was seized up so all I did was spray some pb blaster down in it and worked it until it was free--THANK YOU SOOOO much--I did like and subscribe to your channel--Looking forward to seeing what you work on next..
Dude thanks!! Brand new Brad nailer and went thru about 10 nails then nothing. Followed your instructions and BOOM it’s works like a charm! Only thing is that when I oiled up the plunger then used the pliers to pull it out… I sprayed oil everywhere. lol! Worth it to get it working. Thanks again!
Great stuff right there! I was able to oil mine without disassembling. I just turned the nailer upside down and used a plastic oiling tube to squirt lube down to the pin.
Wow! What an awesome video! Thank you! I have to admit, when I first watched this video, I was nervous. I thought, "Ain't no way I can do this fix!" On the surface, it looked complicated. But, it was either try and hope for success, or, go out and buy a new P320. And, since this is one of my favorite tools, and I am not the type to throw away money, and I love learning new things, I simply watched the video one segment at a time and did exactly as told, and VOILA!!! Just like new! I can actually say now that none of the steps were complicated. The most difficult part for me (other than the fear of failure) was pulling out the "strike pin" with the pliers. My P320 cylinder was BONE DRY from lots of use and from sitting all winter, and it was very difficult to pull out and it would NOT turn easy as in the video. You have to be careful if yours is dry too, because when it finally gives way, you might pull the pin all the way out, so brace your pulling arm and be prepared. Once it gave way, then it would turn more easily and I put more oil in the cylinder after taking a few practice shots and before reassembly. Be careful when taking practice shots so that the strike pin does not hit you, and, a spray of oil will shoot out at the same time. From now on, this will be an annual routine.
This is SUPER useful. Thanks for a thorough review. So far, I've been able to only clean and lube behind the clasp (and cross fingers, try a few times). But I assume I eventually will have to lube the piston to keep the locking up from happening. Again, thanks for sharing!
My Ryobi AirStrike would not work after 4 months of use. I followed your instructions on how to disassemble and lubricate the unit. After lubricating the piston and turning the firing pin. I used WD-40 silicon lubricant. Reassembled the airstrike, replaced the battery and it worked.

Great video! The one thing i did differently was when reassembling I took out the second hex bolt next to the short hex bolt you removed last and the safety carriage slid right into position.
I bought mine yesterday and it seemed to work fine. This morning, it made a weak sound and the "hammer" didnt move. It was a frosty night and was about 35F when I started my project in my unheated workshop. Put the nailer in the house, with the intention of returning it. Later, I wondered if it was the cold. I tried it again, now that it was warm, and it worked! I finished my project, though it failed to nail maybe 1 in 15 nails. I exchanged it anyway. Going to keep this tool in the house for winter!
I had a brad jammed inside by the strike plate. Took it apart, removed the brad and oiled it. Thank you, just what I needed.

I have been experiencing the same problem with my P360 stapler. Unable to find any troubleshooting information specific to the P360, I watched your video a couple of times. There are enough similarities between the P320 and the P360 that I decided to try your approach. My P360 now works like I had just taken it out of the box. Thanks for the information!
Genuinely thank you so much. First video I watched after mine failed to strike after being left in the shed for a few months. My tip is that despite the pin firing when I rotated 180 degrees, it failed to fire when in normal position. To solve this I slowly rotated it back to the correct position 5 to 10 degrees at a time, test firing on each increment. If it failed, I’d go back a step and increment from there a few degrees less. Eventually got back to normal position firing 👍👍👍

Thanks so much. I had tried lubing like all the other video showed by just letting the oil drip down the striker. But that was not working. I bought an o-ring replacement and was just getting ready to do it. I ran across your video and figured I would try this first. And it worked! May have to eventually change out o rings but at this point if it ain't broke anymore don't fix it

I had the same problem with my nail gun. I did the easier to do things first. # 1 Clean the track for the pin. # 2 Lubricate the track for the pin. Still not firing. I then found your video and did exactly as you did and that seems to have worked for me. The nail gun is working well again. Your process was pretty easy and also quick to do. You have made my day this evening! Thank you so much!! I bought this nail gun about 5 years ago. After 2 1/2 years later and using maybe a total of about 3 hours, one day it just stopped working all of a sudden. The gun would only have the led-light lit up on pulling the trigger (No sound of running motor..). I took it to an authorized dealer to repair it (Still within the 3 year warranty). It took me a good half-a-year for the repair, and only after my complaint to the manufacturer. It worked fine for about another year with about 30 minutes usage in total then die in the same manner again. I just couldn't figure out what the problem was, though I am in fact a DIY:(. I placed the gun aside wishing one day I could figure out if the gun was still repairable by me. I decided to buy this same gun again at last. This time, the gun lasted just 2 months and had the same problem. I said to myself that I was actually lucky the gun die early rather than late since it was within the 3 month return window. I returned it. I then bought an air nail gun, but I always find it too trouble to turn on the air-compressor to do a few nailing. It ended up I still have not used it. Today, I came upon your video and I followed the way you did, and I made it! It just took me about 10 minutes and the gun has returned alive!! I am so happy! Thank you soo much for sharing!!!

Thank you so much, mine would give a partial cycle sound but would not attempt to fire. After removing the magazine thanks to your video tutorial I saw the firing pin was stuck in the firing position, once I played with it a little the spring retracted pulling it back into the correct position. I lubed it, put it back together, works like new again.

Thanks a TON my friend. Mine was doing the same thing, but I ended up not having the right size allen wrench. I ended up using some liquid wrench on the front part, assembled the gun, and started firing into a 2x4 to let the lubricate cycle through. After about 4 tries, it started shooting out the nails.
Thanks for sharing this fix, I just got mine today, it replaces an air tool I had for years which failed. I have several Ryobi tools. I just used it tto install some trim and baseboards.

YEAH! THANK YOU SO MUCH 💓. AS A DIY LADY...I was using my brad nailer when it jammed. The striker was out and stuck. I finally had the courage to try your video . *I was able to disassemble it without having to remove the entire armature. The striker spring back in, where I noticed a tiny piece of broken nail. After removal the preoiling helped. 😊 IT WORKS GREAT after a year of sadly 😢 not using it*

Fantastic guide! I did the same without taking off the magazine.
Here are my steps: 1) Oiled striker and let soak with nailer pointed up. 2) Took off top plate using 4mm allen. 3) Cycled striker using small needle nose pliers.
It took me a few tries, but she's working for now. :) Thanks again!!

Yep, I was thinking the same thing because he doesn't pull the driver element out. Just spray into it and then either move the thing back and forth as as you did and let the firing of the thing distribute the oil. Soaking it for a while is also a good idea. What type of oil did you use?

Thank you for the inspiring video, I cleared the same issue today but I managed to do so without any other tools.
1. Remove nail strip after releasing tension on the magazine spring.
2. Open the clasp and make sure the battery is out.
3. Place the nailer on its back aiming at the ceiling, spray generously with CRC 5-56 or WD-40 equivalent into the mechanism , allow to sit for an hour or so.
4. Test fire by inserting battery, make sure you gently hold back the safety carriage- make sure no nails in gun and no tension on magazine spring - not pointing at anyone.
This should work - you are back in business. You may not need an hour though.

Thanks for the help,I didnt have to take the entire nail carrier apart,I used a flat screw driver to kinda pull the piston out then sprayed some w40 and it worked..mine stopped making the shooting sound,I only had my led light working, I was definitely gonna run to home depot for a new one, but I gave it a try ,thanks again!

Thanks so much for this. I didn't even take my air nailer apart to lube it up. I just sprayed the striker channel with wd40 and sat the tool on its end so that the lubricant would flow down and I was back in business shortly thereafter!

My Ryobi brad nailer hasn't worked for over a month. I had to use my compressor nail as a back up. One comment suggested to turn the depth nob at the back. I turned it back it worked. The nail was up and 1/8 inch. I tightened it and worked perfectly. Thanks for suggestions.
This video was great! I followed it step by step to troubleshoot my ryobi nailgun that wasn’t firing…did it step by step - still didn’t fire…realized I was using the wrong gauge nails 🤦♂️
But now it’s well lubricated and I’ll know what to do next time
I watched the video. Same issues. All I did was just soak the unit without disassembly using WD-40 using the little red straw shoved into the hole the nails come out of (after removing the battery obviously). Cycled it three times and it started to run like new. Definitely a lube issue. Thank you for the video. I just wanted to leave this for those who might want a quick fix.
Just found this video. Spray silicone with the little straw will spray right up inside and lubricate the seals. Fixed mine. No disassembling. Thanks for the video
Thanks for making this video. Mine was intermittently not firing. I was able to get enough lube up in there without taking off the magazine to fix it. (I just removed the latch assembly.) If it gums up again, I’ll take it all apart and try again. I appreciate your guidance!

One thing to add to this is that I found the nailer needs a battery with a high capacity - greater than 2.5 ah.
My nailer was new and I was using a 2.5ah battery. The nailer would successfully punch 1 Brad and then stop. I pulled the mechanism apart, no jammed brads, put the battery back and it would fire 1 brad and stop again.
I cycled through this problem many times and as the nailer was new and I figured it was faulty, I took it back to the shop and got a new one under warranty.
Went home with my new nailer, put the same battery on and experienced the same problem. What? Have I got 2 duds? Is this a piece of rubbish?
Guessed it might be the battery. Swapped out the 2.5ah for a 5.0ah and the problem went away. Now that was 3 years ago and the nailer has worked 100% perfectly since.
