I know this is an old video, but maybe Jesse just wanted to see how he stacked up against the best? Nothing wrong with that. That’s how you get better!
Daniel/Geraldine....don't know if you still monitor comments...BUT..... dam I miss y'all...... good times watching your stream.....best ever... I used to be Jay Thomas Reset....(old road agent known as the truckdriver, Batman, SneakySnake, Electric Man)......miss big John Hendy too absolutely.....GodBless
Awww, RIP John Henderson. I just spoke with his son today. It's nice to hear from you again. Thanks for the well-wishes. I manage a poolhall now. Keeps me busy but not really any streaming these days.
Against Efren he does, and I’ve only watched 10 minutes. That’s not saying he can’t play, though. Efren is the best 1P player ever, hands down. No debate.
Thank you for saying that, Daniel. You should NEVER concede. I've been playing pool for over 50 years, and, I've seen pretty much everything - including the best players on Earth missing the easiest shots. Everybody screws up "sometime".
The commentator said that, wherever they go, they're always worried about the cost of food, gas, etc. He should know that, if he eats the right kind of foods, the "gas" will be a free byproduct. ;)
Best pool players are humans, and they make mistakes too. There was an instance in the past when efren missed to pocket a ball - pretty straight one - with ball in hand. It happens. But at the end of the day, their skills play out in most of the games. I haven't seen one quite like Efren in one pocket. His stroke is one of a kind, executing shots with different amounts of english and speed of the cue ball. I can't imagine how executes a follow through shot by shooting the cue ball under. This matchup is like lion v dog.
I wish you had kept the score board current and up to date as the change occurred. Also how many people know who when where how whys about one pocket pool? So Daniel besides the strategy that you advise Jesse to play which was "defense" what other kinds of strategies might be at play here. For those of us that don't know a damn thing about 'one pocket' it would have helped for you to point out that the right pocket was Jesse Gilberts and the left side Efren Reyes. You would have had me on the edge of my seat. Trying to figure this out just by watching? I'm exhausted.
Thanks for your feedback. We'd really like to accommodate some of the newcomers to One-Pocket so, I appreciate your comments. I actually wasn't suggesting throughout the match that Jesse play a lot defense. I was more or less saying that he shouldn't throw away his opportunities and play a little smarter. 99% of the time, the person breaking the rack is automatically electing the opposite corner as his/her pocket; unless otherwise specified. The best way to break in one pocket is from the side which, is on a diagonal plane to your pocket. There are some other fancy breaks, but the player will specify his/her pocket if applying the fancy break. Sorry bout the scoring bud. It is by far, my biggest flaw when doing these matches and I truly apologize.
@@POVPOOL I appreciate your transparent honesty, and just to add to the subject; we (as pool players) are all pretty pissed off about pool essentially being demoted as a sport so on and so forth... Well in other sports do you see them make Such consistent careless errors when tracking scoring? ...not a chance. So if we want to be taken seriously then we have to act accordingly. This is not to say there is no appreciation for what you do, there absolutely is... but if I happen to walk away from a match for a few min I should be able to come back and know the score is right. Much Love, Be Blessed.
@@user-uz4ol4vy5s Of course it was his money. Who would back Jesse with no spot against Efren in a race to 8? Even if the backer got 100%, he would be giving away money. Don’t get me wrong, Jesse is a good shooter, but there’s no angle here.
21:58, can anyone tell me why the players occasionally bend down where the balls are located but don't come up with a ball or anything else in their hands ? Thanks in advance
just curious as what part of cali is this at ? is this LA and if so what pool hall. i know im not a world beater but ive always loved the game of one pocket more than any other game and grew up playing and when i moved to cali 6 years ago , none of the pool rooms ive been to out here in southern Cali no one plays one pocket. plus it would be nice to just drop by amd sweat some action if theres any around. so my question is where in cali and what pool hall. Thanks for feed back in advance.
I don't know where you are going in Cali to miss one pocket action. Most of the rooms get into it around these parts. This particular room is in Northern California at California Billiards. The link to the room and the address are in the description of this video. That said, looking for One Pocket action? Here's a list of rooms that I'm sure will gladly take action from you between 20 and 40 a game: Hard Times Billiards (Sacramento), Family Billiards (San Francisco), Jointed Cue (Sacramento), The Jointed Cue (Sacramento), Crown Billiards (San Ramon), The Broken Rack (Emeryville), The Cueball (Bakersfield), Hard Times Billiards (Bellflower), California Billiards (Fremont), Edgie's Billiards (Milpitas), House Of Billiards in Santa Monica and Sherman Oaks, Family Billiards in Lakewood, The Cueball in Montclair. I hope this helps.
WOW! At 50:08, Jesse shot over the 15-ball (using the bridge), but, his cue stick caught the 15-ball when he pulled his stick backwards. Not sure if Efren saw it. Maybe he saw it and it was to his advantage. Was that a foul, on Jesse?
Mr. Busch, you commentate gentlemanly enough, but your score keeping is constantly off. At some point your mea culpas start to run the circumference of annoyance; at this point the apologies are academic.Good gentleman, can we improve on it?
I realize this is an old post but I have to say , that you don't get better playing worse players so Jessie couldn't have picked a better player , he surely could have played better and it took him a long time to get a down table game going , maybe he wanted to challenge himself , and no disrespect to the announcer but if your a donkey after 10 years of a sport your just not cut out for it .
also caught the end of that first game and i was like damn, this is supposed to be a world beater and missing shots like that !! lol... still good to watch tho.
50:10 imo jesse made an obvious foul and no one either Efren , him or the commentator seen and or said something . He touches the 15 ball with his cue at the end of his stroke and the ball stops on the bridge.
i know its an old video ..... but just in the breaking efren was keeping jessies wing ball buried and jessie was letting efrens fly ... afren wasnt even trying actually it didnt look like jessie was either ,.,......... the sad part of the pool match wasnt the poor shots or decisions in the game it was the fact that jessie had the chance to play the best all around pool player and took it for granite ,,,,,,,,,, he could have slowed ddown and savoired the moment . you dont get a chance like that to often i would have lost not that badly and only been playiong this game a month .......... but still would have slowed the pace down and even though i know i would have lost at least said wow in my head how cool is this .

Woah, just a beat down, right from start to finish.

This commentator is hilarious! "I still consider myself a donkey." -- Been playing this game for a long time. So do I sir, so do I.
I think most one pocket players can relate to the donkey thought, compared to Efren's caliber of play.
