I’ve never watched this movie before but this scene is genuinely one of the most frightening things I’ve seen that has come out of the zombie media. The fact that (I’m pretty sure) the zombies are still humans infected with the 28 days later-like virus is scary. The infected still being alive but being controlled is a brilliant idea for zombie movies and that the zombies will literally do ANYTHING THEY CAN just to infect the victims, even if it puts them in danger is TERRIFYING. Just by looking at the opening alone I can tell this is a brilliant movie.
Sorry to disappoint but the movie is far from brilliant. Just another Hollywood action flick that deviates way too much from the book. Scenes like this are cool though I will admit, but the overall package was mediocre at best.
The “transition from normal life to apocalypse” scenes are what I always look forward to in zombie movies. This is one of he best. The remake dawn of the dead also has a pretty cool one.
Literally this. There is this comic series called "Crossed" about this infection that strikes everywhere around the world, all at once. The comic doesn't explain why or where it came from, but it pulls off "initial infection" archtype perfectly. t's gruesome as fuck, would only recommend if you have the stomach for it.
@@AnakinSkywakka I love the fact that it’s based on a real fungus. It’s one of the closest if not the closest concepts to us getting a “zombie apocalypse”. I love the fact that we don't see the start of the explosion only the middle and end, I love it for two reasons. 1. He doesn't see it either, we get to feel the exact kind of terror he's feeling, we get to empathise, and 2. Especially since the truck literally came out of nowhere. Seriously, the street was clear three seconds earlier. Time travel is apparently in this movie.
The Dawn Of The Dead remake was done very well. I loved seeing everything go to hell twice. The opening credit song and the opening 10min of the movie. Johnny Cash's song was perfect.

5:08 Jesus that scream though. The fact that these Zombies can run at horrific speeds and have unlimited Stamina and are able to leap grab their victims to bite or maul to death just terrifies me, also their ability to climb up high obstacles and can create large Swarms when in massive numbers is just massive Hell no for me. If the Zombie Apocalypse really does happen I just hope the Zombies aren’t like these ones.
Honestly, there would not be lots of survivors. I mean, walking dead was still bad because the zombies were strong, but slow. It would be insanely hard to survive the walking dead, but these zombies are another level of dangerous.
PhemePlayz nope this was filmed in my home town 😂 Glasgow! I remember them getting people to dress and walk and stuff like zombies they just used special effects

I'm reading the book, currently. Imagine how much better this movie could have been if they hadn't turned it into an action movie with ultra-fast zombies. The movie could have followed the book more and been just as good if not better, going through people's stories they tell in the aftermath through flashbacks, making you care about each new character in their various struggles around the world, slowly showing the initial spread, panic, and push back. This movie does little to show the sheer dread that was written in the book, as well as moments like in Yonkers where the U.S military tried to make a stand and was overrun due to leadership incomptence, or in Ukraine where they drop nerve gas on thousands of refugees fleeing a burning Kiev to lessen the infection spreading, only to have a few dead get up again and the survivors having to fight them off. Instead, we got copy-pasted zombies from I Am Legend doing the Naruto run and Brad Pitt with plot armor playing a scientist who conveniently is also smart, strong, knows how to fight, and use guns.
There are a couple reasons I can think of that they deviated so heavily from the source material (so much so as to make it similar in name and small details only, in my opinion), but the most likely is that it's a two-hour film, and there are constraints that come with that. It's standard practice to have a narrative through-line for audiences to identify with and easily latch onto. Brooks' "interviews" are perfectly segmented, and though some lead into one another, none are completely connected. It's harder for a movie audience to get invested in multiple characters, multiple stories, without that connection -- especially as many as Brooks wrote for. You could have Krygyzstan, the border traffickers and the Canadian regiment, _or_ you could have the Battle of Yonkers, _or_ you could have Ukraine and the Holy Russian Empire -- but you can't have all of them within the constraints of a 2-hour film without someone who seriously, _seriously_ knows how to parse through what to keep and what to discard and how to weave it all together. The through-line _could_ have been the interviewer, I suppose, but in a way that defeats Brooks' express purpose of having the stories be the centerpiece rather than one singular person. This movie did that anyways with Brad Pitt's character, but I digress. Broad appeal, a presented-as-everyday-but-way-too-skilled and relatable hero to root for, a straightforward plot. That's what would sell, and it did. Brooks' "World War Z" is the kind of story that, if it's to be adapted faithfully, needs to be made for TV. Honestly, it's gift-wrapped for it.
the book is so much better! But I have to agree, much better suited for Tv. Almost like a miniseries, with each episode a different couple peoples stories in time.

What I noticed about these zombies is tht they inherited the traits from most animals we saw in the opening credits . The way they run, hide and attack is the way a cheetah, lion or tiger would attack they're prey. . The way they climbed the Jerusalem wall is the way ants (similar to the ants from Indiana jones 4 originally named “Siafu ants” ) work together in order to get over obstacles . . The way they pushed over the bus in Jerusalem is the same act a stampede or herd of animals would've done Which leads me to my theoretical question: what if the virus originated from infected insects or parasites and soon infected any predator that tried feeding on them and then infected other predators that fed on them, basically acting against the food chain order
DevieeBoii Taylor Nice to know this Virus was probably Engineered, not Natural. I mean, how can a Zombie Virus have those exact traits from different Species naturally?
Though this could have been a highly infectious disease and spread from little insects ants to eventually humans zombies work together in real life there's a fungus that ants will eat and it actually controls them and so this could be like that disease but herd animals accidentally ate these ants while eating grass and it just escalated
marco said he doesnt want a wife or a daughter. I said i understand for a kid as it is a struggle in case of dangers.. but the wife? she is an adult and while, in this movie, this particular wife is not as competent as the hero due to his military background facing this type of apocalypse, she seemed pretty able to handle herself and drive and kick a guy ... so yeah i dont know why he wouldnt want a wife.. except by fear of losing as you said the love of your life ( then yeah it would kinda make sense smh... you would still lose all your family and friends and anybody u know anyways lol)
This is great horror. How you know something is happening, like there's something off, you know there's a whole story, fight happening down the road but you don't see it, it's eerily like the calm before the storm. The only thing protecting you from it is pure time and distance.
I LOVE the car hitting the cop, it's such a good jumpscare and the music keeps the energy going, instead of just a "boo" and then going back to chill, it just instantly ramps up and doesn't stop
6:22 Fun Fact, when the helicopter flies over the place where the main characters were just before they escaped in the RV, thats actually George Square in Glasgow, Scotland
I don't know why this movie got so much hate. The directing was downright incredible. The movie perfectly captured the absolute chaos of a crisis in every frame.
It was an adaptation of a book, and the movie was basically the exact opposite of the book it's based on. In the WWZ book, the zombies are more like The Walking Dead, and it doesn't simultaneously start everywhere. It starts in China and spreads through the black market and organ trade/donations, unknowingly spreading it worldwide. Also, the military is incompetent as hell at first, but they managed to get their shit together and wage a brutal war for a decade, and even then, zombies still exist and pop up every now and again. In the movie, it's basically just like any other zombie movie, only with fast zombies.
Dude people don't normally look at their family history to see where their older relatives were born I for 1 couldn't tell you where my grandparents were born, all I know is where my parents were born
Cinemasins and Wow Such Gaming also mentioned this! The truck suddenly comes outta nowhere like a bat out of hell and makes no noise when it sends the cop flying
Well think about it for a second. The zombies infect within 12 seconds. So 1 goes to 2 then 4 and so on and so forth so within minutes you have hundreds of these thing if not thousands. 200 could go to 400 in about 12 seconds so yeah
Carl DEE Morris2 what more I want to know is if people turn to zombie in 12 seconds how the heck did this spread over seas?!? If they were on a boat or airplane they'd know about it in minutes and the army would simply go in and blow them away. Unless they were stupid and thought "hey we lost contact with our ship or airplane but let's let it land in anyway".
Jorge Vazquez well it's a life or death situation and you would be pumped full of adrenaline and you would become Usain bolt until.you out of danger take 28 weeks later the escape scene the zombies are just like this and he bolted.
One thing I keep noticing about the father is that he is always looking everywhere and examining so he can know what’s going on, and gather information.
I love how you can feel the initial anxiety they feel and then absolute terror as the scene progresses. Also those chilling words “containment is a fail”.
Well, for a disease depicted in this movie, it would make sense. Virus is spread very quickly. The infected don't chew on people to survive, they do it to spread the virus. The victims do not die, as the virus just takes control of the primary motor cortex, which is one of the principle brain areas that execute body movement. Being spread this way, it would be much harder to manage. News would not have much time to spread the word, and the amount of infected would progressively increase. (Sorry, nerdy side was kickin' in right there.)
Actually, with a virus like this it'd do virtually no damage to humanity as a whole. It simply wouldn't be able to spread. The carriers (zombies) would get slaughtered before they had a chance to spread it. Since people turn instantly there's no possibility for them to get on planes and spread it across the globe. The outbreak would be contained fairly easily since the only possible way for it to spread is via normal human running speeds. I never watched the movie so I don't know how they handwaved this fact.
The only movie or story that ever did zombies any sort of justice was the way its transmitted and delivered in the '28 Days Later' film(s). Although it infects you too fast, I think the way it works is great. It basically turns you rabid, but it's also killing you. All the 'zombies' are still alive but in a heightened state of aggression. They all end up starving to death or from lack of water, dying. After a few days they're basically not a threat, as they don't actually eat anything and effectively cannot, just like a rabid animal. Of course the speed of transmission and how soon it makes you rabid (literally just seconds) are clearly garbage meant to allow for a story, as is the notion that they also wouldn't just attack each other, and instead seem to only go after the uninfected.

They could have made it a ZOCUMENTARY
When you put it that way,, I'd prefer the book
the book is so much better! But I have to agree, much better suited for Tv. Almost like a miniseries, with each episode a different couple peoples stories in time.
That wouldn’t be better, but it would be different.

What I noticed about these zombies is tht they inherited the traits from most animals we saw in the opening credits
. The way they run, hide and attack is the way a cheetah, lion or tiger would attack they're prey.
. The way they climbed the Jerusalem wall is the way ants (similar to the ants from Indiana jones 4 originally named “Siafu ants” ) work together in order to get over obstacles .
. The way they pushed over the bus in Jerusalem is the same act a stampede or herd of animals would've done
Which leads me to my theoretical question: what if the virus originated from infected insects or parasites and soon infected any predator that tried feeding on them and then infected other predators that fed on them, basically acting against the food chain order
DevieeBoii Taylor Nice to know this Virus was probably Engineered, not Natural. I mean, how can a Zombie Virus have those exact traits from different Species naturally?
Cantante Gaming honestly can't tell if thts sarcasm or not
DevieeBoii Taylor Nope, I'm being serious because I always though till now for the Virus to be a natural occurrence
Cantante Gaming it is possible but the virus would’ve had to like won the lottery for diseases. But more than likely engineered
Though this could have been a highly infectious disease and spread from little insects ants to eventually humans zombies work together in real life there's a fungus that ants will eat and it actually controls them and so this could be like that disease but herd animals accidentally ate these ants while eating grass and it just escalated

True
+War450 only if they use megaton sized nukes on the first infected site. Otherwise it would spread too quickly.
My dad and I loved zombie movies, world war z, 28 weeks later, resident evil, but my parents had a divorce and I haven't seen him since January 2016 but we still talk, seeing zombie movies makes me sad but happy at the memories
