I think I just found out what the Stanley parable is about. You play a character, whose job is to push buttons that his computer tells him to push. You really are Stanley. A gamer who pushes buttons that a game tells you to push. And you are happy doing it even though it is eating up your life just like a job that normal people would think is "soul rending". My brain just exploded.
Jesse! This game needs more of your attention! I feel like a short playthrough of all the endings and you messing with the narrator would be great for everybody, mostly you...
I got home completely drained and pretty depressed from college and medications, sat down with some food to try to get back up to normal with nothing to take the edge off while I watched. Then I checked my subs and saw one of my favorite let's players doing a fan friday episode of a game I adored but hadn't seen enough of. Space butterfly bless you, jesse, I really needed this pick-me-up.
I love it when the Narrator put Minecraft in the game and Jesse's first reaction is to slowly clap. Jesse you should do more videos of The Stanley Parable so that you will have a very humorous gameplay :)
The Mighty Cox hibernates after his annual convention of the blizzard. Many Space Butterflies have flocked to him during this convention and drained him of his life force. He now slumbers, dreaming of scantily clad blood elf concubines performing his will, as he see's fit. He slumbers ever so soundly like a stoic tree in the forest. When he awakes from the Cox-slumber, he will bring his wrath down upon the Internet, with the highest quality non-content the world has ever witnessed. Beginning with the details to the visions of his draught of monstrous energy addled dream babes... Rise Mr. Cox
Jesse, you're a genius. I've been hearing about people spending HOURS on this game and not beating it. You beat the game because you literally refused to go through that red door. I'm so proud *tear falls slowly down face*
i love that pepole think that second ending you did was the true ending some how. all it talks about is how you did not do what you were told and how you are not controoled by anyone yet to get that ending you have to fallow every command he gives you. he even said no one will tell you how to feel then tells you to be happy
It is funny, because 50% of the weeks, Jesse says that THIS week, he is playing the most requested game ever. Aparently, we are a very demanding public. xD
Your first playthrough went exactly like my first playthrough! I think this is a perfect game make a new video off once every so often where you do something different.
Every time Jesse laughs, I can't help but laugh along side him. Has he even played the original mod? I'm guessing by his reactions that he hasn't, which makes this even better! :D
No actually, after a while the narrator adds a puppy and you have to press his button AS WELL as the baby's. (Its nigh impossible) but by spinning in place between the two buttons you can press E and get them both, and then I believe that the screen goes black and I cant remember the rest (but the game doesn't end you go somewhere else)
LaJ126 so he recorded this like 3 weeks ago? no he did not, he told himself he recorded this this week, it was rendering during one of his QA livestreams (wednesday i believe)
Edzter Anyone and their mother have seen previous versions of this, including the "good" ending. More interesting was the "rebellion" ending at the start where previous versions tended to simply kill you.
Jesse, you already know what I am going to say, don't you? MORE! The fact that you are laughing, and probably all of us with you, would indicate that you are enjoying the game and therefore you will probably play it in its entirety. So why not record it and let us join you on this wonderful journey? tl;dr: playthrough please
I played this game over and over and over again and found a ton of different endings and I love the fact that Jesse found my favourite one in his first try :D
mmm, I would say that a prompt isn't the same thing as an Order. When you see bad guys in halo, you aren't forced to shoot them, but the situation prompts you to do that.
You know what I mean. :P And while you aren't forced to shoot them, but the story grinds to a halt until you do follow them. To continue the narrative, you need to follow the prompts laid before you.
I guess that was a bad example, but it still works in some respects. Even though it's very linear, you can be as creative as you like in how you go about accomplishing the goal set before you. It's the difference between most game combat and quick-time events (where you are actually punished for failing to follow precise commands).
Some of us play games like Thief and climb all around the level looking for the one roof that allows us to clip outside the map. People play games differently. The example of Portal in this game is a good one - I tried for hours to find alternate routes in that game - dragging companion cube to places it wasn't meant to get, it was basically a linear story. Enjoy the story, beat the puzzles, don't pretend choice is anything but an illusion.
That's it... what else do you need? i mean, one ball of shit can make lots of stuff shity... if you had a cake its cool... if you had a cake with a ball of shit, could you ignore the shit ball? :D
bobthechampion The way that it sets it to "Top Comments" automatically instead of newest first which just promotes arguments about nonsense, and it breaks Chromeactions' night time mode..
I know your Fan Fridays are usually one-shot deals, but you really need to do more on this one and record yourself getting all the different endings. It's a lot of fun to see your reactions to what happens, and there are some endings that would be a blast to see what you do.
Good job, Jesse. You found 2 of 15 'endings'. Also, that spooky area you fell into before things went black and the game restarted? That was the original Stanley Parable back when it was just a mod. xD
Jesse this game is like a part of you, its like your soul and it knows what your about to say before even you do, please, if you would do a playthrough of any game in the world, this would be it.
It's great how he eventually took his slight reference to lost at the beginning and let it boil within, then finally shouted his distaste to the heavens t the wasted years that ended in disappointment
Wow. I heard they didn't add much from the old mod version. Might have to try this one out myself after all. And that Mind Control room reminds me of Brazil.
( 21:18 ) People NEVER go down ! Sigh... I'm seriously wondering why that is ? I mean, really ? I saw 3 Let's Plays of the game, 1 where the guy passed multiple times UP the stairs... and no one even just *tried* to go down ? Weird.
Holy shit. First time watching Jesse and his laugh is simply contagious.
Yup, that iws the entire point of this, to poke fun at a lot of gaming tropes :P
The best ending is the broom closet ending
There's a Broom Closet ending? My narrator just got fed up of me going in there and boarded it up.
As your friend, I am concerned.
THEB ROOM CLOSET ENDING WAS MY FAVRITE!1 XD
***** i hope your friends find this concerning
SuperPineapplejones I say quite true
Jesse! This game needs more of your attention! I feel like a short playthrough of all the endings and you messing with the narrator would be great for everybody, mostly you...
"Nobody would tell Stanley what to do or how to feel... Stanley walked outside, and Stanley was happy"
Best ending...I'm easy
I wanna see Crendor play this now. I feel like he'd get so many meanings out of it
I got home completely drained and pretty depressed from college and medications, sat down with some food to try to get back up to normal with nothing to take the edge off while I watched. Then I checked my subs and saw one of my favorite let's players doing a fan friday episode of a game I adored but hadn't seen enough of. Space butterfly bless you, jesse, I really needed this pick-me-up.
"Stanley walked through the red door"
Jesse: No Stanley walked through the BLUE door; we've had this discussion
I wish Jesse made The Stanley Parable a weekly thing... cause I know his reactions would be golden. XD
Best line, "Totalbiscuit is that you?"
Takes on a whole new meaning now with the tone he uses.
Jesse your reactions towards this game is amazing please do more you are the best if you do, or if you don't.
Jesse! This is the ideal game for you. Sadly you never found the endless elevator ride for all your elevator songs.
I love it when the Narrator put Minecraft in the game and Jesse's first reaction is to slowly clap. Jesse you should do more videos of The Stanley Parable so that you will have a very humorous gameplay :)
Jesse please do more of this, your reactions and commentary to this game are by far the best I've seen so far.
I would love to see you play more of this
I really enjoyed watching you play this. Play more please! Let's see all the endings. The rant about Lost at the end was great.
How the Narrator treats Stanley really reminds me of how TotalBiscuit treats Jesse.
Rise Mr. Cox
First time watching his video. Instantly subscribed, because of that intro :D
The Talking Potato You have made a wise subscription my friend! :)
That was not the ending, there multiple endings
Jesse, you're a genius. I've been hearing about people spending HOURS on this game and not beating it. You beat the game because you literally refused to go through that red door. I'm so proud *tear falls slowly down face*
Pleaaaase do an hour long let's play! I know it's late, but it would be glorious.
Yes, by following instructions blindly you will never be told what to do again. You are free!
Irony. This game is good at it.
i love that pepole think that second ending you did was the true ending some how.
all it talks about is how you did not do what you were told and how you are not controoled by anyone yet to get that ending you have to fallow every command he gives you.
he even said no one will tell you how to feel then tells you to be happy
if only he got the confusion ending.
I feel like they all are confusion endings, no?
***** there is an even more confusing one.
***** no
I'm more a fan of the broom closet ending
Marcus Blixt
The broom closet ending is my favorite
OMG ITS A FAN FRIDAY ACTUALLY ON FRIDAY
It is funny, because 50% of the weeks, Jesse says that THIS week, he is playing the most requested game ever.
Aparently, we are a very demanding public. xD
Jesse please make a series out of this, I know it wont be long but it would be FANTASTIC to see your reactions to each ending!!
Haha, Jesse losing his shit at Lost's ending is the best :)
Your first playthrough went exactly like my first playthrough!
I think this is a perfect game make a new video off once every so often where you do something different.
8:22 "stanely agreed to sign up to google+"
Your comment is funny and agreeable but just because I'm obsessed with tiny facts I'd like to point out that he made this video before Google+
Simon Lamoureux
That may be true, but it doesn't nullify his point. If anything, the fact you and I are able to comment on it proves it.
One does not simply Walk past the broom closet
I knew this was going to be my favorite Jesse Cox video right when I saw the game he was playing. This game is totally his humor.
For some reason I imagine this being Yogtowers in the distant future.
When you pressed "OFF" on the mind control it should have stopped you controlling him... that should have been the twist ending...
jesse please make more i would really enjoy to see you have a full play trough of this game it would be amazing
Wow, good job Jesse! I can't believe you just spoiled the ending of Lost for me! :-P
Every time Jesse laughs, I can't help but laugh along side him. Has he even played the original mod? I'm guessing by his reactions that he hasn't, which makes this even better! :D
If you actually play the baby game for 4 hours, there is an ending.
No actually, after a while the narrator adds a puppy and you have to press his button AS WELL as the baby's. (Its nigh impossible) but by spinning in place between the two buttons you can press E and get them both, and then I believe that the screen goes black and I cant remember the rest (but the game doesn't end you go somewhere else)
i dont know why so many people requested jesse to play this, jesse already mentioned in a podcast that he knows some of the endings
Erik Nilsson jesse mentioned this exact ending in the podcast, making this entire video make him look fake, thats not cool
Edzter
He recorded this before the podcast.
LaJ126 so he recorded this like 3 weeks ago? no he did not, he told himself he recorded this this week, it was rendering during one of his QA livestreams (wednesday i believe)
Edzter Because he recorded it before the podcast... Are you really that stupid?
Edzter Anyone and their mother have seen previous versions of this, including the "good" ending. More interesting was the "rebellion" ending at the start where previous versions tended to simply kill you.
Jesse, you already know what I am going to say, don't you? MORE! So why not record it and let us join you on this wonderful journey?
tl;dr: playthrough please
"Totalbiscuit is that you?" And I thought that was the height of this, nope it got better. Thanks for playing this Jesse.
You should do the broom closet ending. I really liked the slide part.
I have to say Jesse you have the best laugh ever, it's like a shriek of pure joy, keep it up :)
Every time Jesse walked up to the Power Supply Room and just walked away from it trying to find the other buttons, I screamed at my monitor.
I played this game over and over and over again and found a ton of different endings and I love the fact that Jesse found my favourite one in his first try :D
Please make a part 2 for this.
Isn't all we do when we play video games is press buttons when the screen orders us to?
mmm, I would say that a prompt isn't the same thing as an Order. When you see bad guys in halo, you aren't forced to shoot them, but the situation prompts you to do that.
You know what I mean. :P And while you aren't forced to shoot them, but the story grinds to a halt until you do follow them. To continue the narrative, you need to follow the prompts laid before you.

It's the difference between most game combat and quick-time events (where you are actually punished for failing to follow precise commands).
Or walk through the right door.
Jesse I want you to know that every intro to Fan Friday makes my week. It is glorious.
JESSE, u brighten up my day forreal
i wish there were more ppl like u
8 mins in im already in tears. this game is perfect for jesse? "no what if i wanna go blue? we already had this discussion"
totally should have a couple of episodes of you running through this game. for the lolz
that rom at 20:00 is the original room i think thats awesome :D
OMG this is so hilarious!!! "432 what the hell is your job??!" xDD
The 427 room you saw after playing minecraft is the one from the mod version.
I need more of this. Specifically, I need to see Jesse play the Confusion ending.
Just FYI, the area with the hallways after you fell into the darkness was the original mod that this game was based on.
You wanted Jesse to play more Minecraft? Well this must be close enough right?
Please do a couple of more vids on this, there are so many more amazing parts of this game left.
So Stan's job was to push buttons that his computer told him to push? Does that remind you of anyone, Jesse?
All i want to see is Jesse gesturing as he does the intro... my life needs this.
Jesse Cox - plays it for the first time and finds the best scenario possible.
Any chance you could make a few more videos of this, Jesse? Because there are still a dozen or so endings to discover!
God damn.. this new comment system is shit.... anyway,Jesse please make more of these videos,i liked it.
What is wrong with it other than having to use Google +. Thats a huge a ball of shit but what else makes it shit?
That's it... what else do you need? i mean, one ball of shit can make lots of stuff shity... if you had a cake its cool... if you had a cake with a ball of shit, could you ignore the shit ball? :D
bobthechampion
The way that it sets it to "Top Comments" automatically instead of newest first which just promotes arguments about nonsense, and it breaks Chromeactions' night time mode..
Limeni92
Don't care, the cake is a lie.
arachwolf Pie is the truth.
Every Fan Friday is the most requested game ever it seems.
Good video.
Its interesting that everybody's first instinct when playing this game is to completely disobey the narrator, for whatever reason.
Jesse got up from his desk and went to Blizzcon dressed as Leah from Diablo III.
Could I suggest 'Long live the Queen' as your next fan friday?
I know your Fan Fridays are usually one-shot deals, but you really need to do more on this one and record yourself getting all the different endings. It's a lot of fun to see your reactions to what happens, and there are some endings that would be a blast to see what you do.
to have the older youtube change it from "top comments" to "newest first" youtube is alot closer to what it was before
Good job, Jesse. You found 2 of 15 'endings'. Also, that spooky area you fell into before things went black and the game restarted? That was the original Stanley Parable back when it was just a mod. xD
Holy crap, that first ending. I was not expecting that. Good job, game.
I can't believe this was published back in 2013! Time to re-watch! =D
This is amazing ! i never found this path when playing XD
Jesse this game is like a part of you, its like your soul and it knows what your about to say before even you do, please, if you would do a playthrough of any game in the world, this would be it.
The broom closet ending was my favorite
This game would be infinitely more hilarious if TB was the voice actor and it was Jesse's Parable. Genius.
Jesse are you going to play Bioshock Infinite: Burial at Sea both parts?
"totalbiscuit, ist that you?"
omg I lol'd so hard! xD
It was a mistake to eat a bowl of cereal while watching this. I nearly choked to death laughing.
Jesse, you should make a series of this, or maybe just, one or two episodes more, because some of the endings are amazing.
Narration in this game is what sets it apart from any other adventuring/puzzle game. So damn funny LOL
yes Jesse plz plz plz do more of this i beg you i really wanna see more and im a poor college student with a crappy computer and i cant buy many games
Jesse, i need to be real Serious with you on this one....*puts hands together under nose all serious* we need more .....
The narrator has to be based on TotalBiscuit....otherwise this is the largest coincidence i've ever seen...
He's played with TotalBiscuit. Watch them play Terraria.
I know Jesse has, I'm saying the narration in the game sounds an awful lot like TotalBiscuits mannerisms.
He has a completely different accent and mannerisms...
Because he's English?
It's great how he eventually took his slight reference to lost at the beginning and let it boil within, then finally shouted his distaste to the heavens t the wasted years that ended in disappointment
i love the fact that the room 427 in the spooky area is a throw back to when this game was a mod for half life
Jesse i want you to finish this game and WHERE IS CRYSIS 3 Ive Been waiting FOREVER!
its kinda like TB trying to tell jesse what has to be done next in terraria but he just does his own thing
darn it. there were more easter egg thingies in the meeting room
The narrator didn't say he explored them.
Jesse playing this game is probably the most amazing thing that ever happened in the universe.
This game actually has a ton of social commentary on the gaming industry, which is obviously what it was going for. I enjoyed this game
"Totalbiscuit, is that you?" Lol :)
More of this would make me very happy
I DEMAND A FULL PLAYTHROUGH!!!
Ah that ending is exactly what we love about you Jesse, pure emotion.
6 years Yuko. 6 years!
Wow. I heard they didn't add much from the old mod version. Might have to try this one out myself after all.
And that Mind Control room reminds me of Brazil.
I love the adventure line/confusion ending out of all 12 endings.
( 21:18 ) People NEVER go down ! Sigh... I'm seriously wondering why that is ?
I mean, really ? I saw 3 Let's Plays of the game, 1 where the guy passed multiple times UP the stairs... and no one even just *tried* to go down ? Weird.
I went down.
Bozeman42
But did you put it on video/Let's play ? 'That' is the question of the Ages... the Secret of the Stairs !
Yenastuundepaspris55 I think Sips of the yogscast went down.
I think it just the least obvious place to deviate.
Yenastuundepaspris55 Markiplier did a lot of endings, and one of them was going downstairs
6 YEARS! I loled
