Most people simply don't understand that cyclists who are out there in all weather love to cycle. The amount of times I've been offered lifts or even worse, had the obvious stated to me, "you'll get wet", "it's windy", "it's cold" like I've never cycled in difficult weather before! 😃
@@moochincrawdad I worked in a school where I was the only teacher who regularly cycled to work out of a staff of about 50. Many of the male staff died long before my current age of 69. There is a lot to be said for regular cycling.

Lovely! I enjoyed the commentary and the story of cyclists being more awake and less.miserable. my only caveat is that's only true if the weather is good :). E.g. I cant say it's that amazing when you have tons of rain.
My commute was 28km one way. Unfortunately, once my daughter was born I felt it was too dangerous because there were no bike lanes and traffic was heavy. That was 30 years ago. I just bought an e-bike and wish I had had one back then 😄. 30 years later and the route still has no protected bike lanes here in 🇨🇦

A nice nostalgic ride (for me anyway) up the Gloucester Road. I used to live in Bristol and made this trip in reverse, from Horfield into town many times. Only under pedal power though.
It is exhilarating, my commute involves a lovely park, so hearing the birds and wind whistling through the trees, is an amazing experience, as I whizz by silently and effortlessly.

With what you were saying about the lack of traffic with schools off, I remember Bristol City Council did a survey a while back and they found something like 80% of all car traffic at rush hours before 9am and 5pm was parents taking their kids to and from school. Lots in their 4 litre Chelsea Tractor 4x4s. These are also the same people who yesterday were in Bristol yesterday with their kids to see Greta and preaching telling us how we need to have "climate action". The hypocrisy of these people knows no bounds. In other news, I got a folding ebike recently, it's brilliant. Can also take it onto buses, trains, into the office etc. Also cost less than half what your Hellfrauds bike cost.
I have a 12 mile commute every day for my work and I have the option for driving - I choose to cycle for the same reasons in this video, it's really the only way to go in my opinion. Love the idea of an e-bike but I couldn't deal with the legal max speed, would feel too slow.

hey, I commute 12 miles each way so a total of 24. Its across London from SW to NW. I currently commute by motorcycle but I'm considering the carerra subway E. It suggests it can do 60 miles. Anybody think this is a good shout or not?
@@airsofter2247 It's a good bike but personally I think the Carrera Subway is much better. The Crossfire is heavy because of the front suspension and suspension can be high maintenance and isn't really needed for bikes used on the road. The thicker tyres both front and back on the Subway should mean a more comfortable bike and the stronger wheels and tyres will cope better with commuting on potholes etc. The Subway's hydraulic disc brakes makes stopping more exact in city centres. If you take shortcuts over rough ground the Subway will be much better as its basically a rigid mountain bike with 27.5" wheels so can take a lot more abuse.
You should ask Airbus to put their hand in their pockets and install some decent showers. They are supposed to encourage cycling and running to work. No one wants to spend the day smelling like an armpit.
Yup very expensive considering they are Chinese bikes which Hellfrauds mark up 500%. You could buy exactly the same bike made in the same factory direct from China for less than half the price.
@@gibbson130 Just about every bike comes from China, even most of the bikes from Europe are just assembled there from kits from China. When I was in a local Halfords I saw the box from Carrera e-folding bike and that was from the Czech Republic but probably just assembled there from a kit. There are slighty worse quality places that manufacture bikes including Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia and I'm sure others, China can be pretty good compared to some of those. Nowadays the non-electric Carrera bikes mainly come from Indonesia and Cambodia and that includes other Halford's brands like Voodoo and Boardman. Some of the big European brands are using lower end factories in Bangladesh and have much shorter warranties and lower weight limits. The tolerances on those frames can be terrible. Halfords have 40% of bike sales by volume in the UK and have not had a recall in recent times for frame issues so on a quality level you can make the case that they actually they are pretty good bikes because they are massively exposed if they sold a dodgy bike. Then when you factor in Halfords offer a lifetime warranty on the frame and rigid forks and high weight limits and do some serious discounting at times I think Halfords offer fantastic value (no I don't work for them). www.thedailystar.net/business/news/germanys-cube-teams-meghna-make-high-end-bicycles-1632277
If you want to be lean, supet-fit and gain a rippling six-pack...one that you can almost grate cheese on...then buy a normal bike...if you are happy keeping your paunch and beer belly...then get an e-bike Hehe...😉
definitely! for the $1000+ you'd be shelling out on these 'premium' bikes, you could be spending the same for loads more speed & distance. DIY is definitely not for everyone because it can be inconvenient for some!
That’s incredibly backwards thinking.. Charging your electric bike at home will cost you less than 10p (£0.10) for the full 40-50 mile range. With a scooter you’re paying - registration - road tax - insurance - fuel

Adam, for an older guy like me with a 10 Km commute averaging 20 Km/hr it is certainly worth it to have the hilll/wind assist and arrive at work relaxed and not sweaty!
What is it like, power-wise for hills? I am in Malta and the hills can be severe. Ciao
Allan Gauci they are fine on the hills, you can pedal up easy pretty hilly in Sheffield where I live too, obviously runs battery down quicker though
I live in Sheffield ,
Dana Rehman you have my sympathy lol
hey, I commute 12 miles each way so a total of 24. Its across London from SW to NW. I currently commute by motorcycle but I'm considering the carerra subway E. It suggests it can do 60 miles. Anybody think this is a good shout or not?
Oh it will easily do 24 miles don’t worry! I get at least 35-40 miles with an aging battery in the coldest days!
@@bikedeliveries hi, how much pedalling do you do to get 35-40 miles? This bike looks good but I need at least 30+ miles with minimal pedalling
How many miles u can do with one charge ?
watch the video, he says it
I'm just watching this whilst starting my car from my phone. Nice easy drive in....because i dont work in the Shity.
How much did you pay for it i might be interested in one
ATM they are on sale for £975 at Halfords for last years model (His model), New models £1250ish
Is your bike computer in mph or kph
You should ask Airbus to put their hand in their pockets and install some decent showers. They are supposed to encourage cycling and running to work. No one wants to spend the day smelling like an armpit.
You work in airbus? and are on airbus graduate scheme
30 minute videos would be cool.

You bike is not cheap ffs it’s expensive fs

If you want to be lean, supet-fit and gain a rippling six-pack...one that you can almost grate cheese on...then buy a normal bike...if you are happy keeping your paunch and beer belly...then get an e-bike
Hehe...😉
Or, you could go half way, and get an E-bike that has a weak battery ;) .
Body facist.

diy ebikes go faster
definitely! for the $1000+ you'd be shelling out on these 'premium' bikes, you could be spending the same for loads more speed & distance. DIY is definitely not for everyone because it can be inconvenient for some!
get the fk off the pavement and ride in the middle of the road not the edge your just inviting drivers to over take putting your self in danger
I'm not interested, you're boring me
Rather get a scooter. Charging my E bike at home and paying more in bills nah !
That’s incredibly backwards thinking..
Charging your electric bike at home will cost you less than 10p (£0.10) for the full 40-50 mile range.
With a scooter you’re paying
- registration
- road tax
- insurance
- fuel
Don’t get a electric Carrera get something good
Costs more.
