- Compact super telephoto 500mm mirror lens from china without any electronics inside, fixed aperture f8 and smooth manual focus (minimal focal distance - 2m)
#MirrorLens #500mm
Just grabbed one from B&H Photo online for $90. Thanks for the quick demo. Did a web search and was pleased to see that your EOS 70D is shooting APS-C, like the Sony a6300 I'm going to mount this lens too. So a practical demonstration for me of what I can expect from the effective 750mm focal length I'll get with the APS-C 1.5 focal length multiplier...
I like how you show the outside of the camera while you zooming in for reference. I might get this lens when I buy my Nikon D3500 because it's gonna come with just the 18-55mm kit lens. So, I need something good for zooming.
nice review bro!i was about to buy one of this for my nikon.thanks for the review!
Silent reviews?.. interesting concept. the F8 aperture makes it a challenge but the images actually looked better than I imagined.
I just ordered this lens for my Pentax K3 ii, it's going to be interesting to see how the fix axis sensor stabilisation helps.
Robert Hansen how is your experience with your new mirror lens ?
Now I know how to take it out of the box! Wow!
Nice review. I like the comparison with the 28mm lenses.
I have one of those, right now it is on my Olympus 4/3rd
Not bad for 95!
Thank you! :-)
You should call it ASMR reviews then you’d be raking in endless views
Also use it on my Canons and my Sony
Is this good for bird photography?
Keep in mind the camera used is a canon 70D which is cropped sensor apsc, meaning whatever lens you put on, you multiply it by 1.6 so this 500 mm becomes more like a 750mm lens 😱
I'd like to clarify that this isn't accurate - 500mm will remain 500mm, the focal length doesn't change. What happens instead, is that the FOV (field of view) becomes smaller (due to a crop sensor being smaller than full frame) and that makes it *appear* as if you are looking through a 750mm lens. In other words, a 500mm full frame lens has the same FOV as a 750mm lens, but the focal length is the same, meaning the object will be the same size regardless of sensor size. Resolution of the sensor on the other hand, will make a difference in how much detail you have at 100%, but the focal length will remain the same.
Will this be compatible with Canon 700D? And the link please.
What size filters are those??
This is the best review I’ve ever seen
Thanks for this 'no talking just the pictures' review. Seems like a decent enough lens choice when your budget is limited.
OxfordManual you are welcome :)
What no talking to explain what is going on .....what are those 3 small things ?
Neutral density filters?
@@coleyounger2874 ND 2x, ND 4x and Skylight 1A filters. Use the ND filters to (artificially) increase the fixed f/8 aperture to f/11, f/16 or f/22 (both stacked together)... The Skylight 1A has a slight magenta cast to warm up cold light scenes (lots of blue light), but may not be useful with AWB engaged.
I'm looking at a 900mm one now
Does this lens have autofocus?
I will never bye a camera unless there is in adapter so I can use my Canon lenses,
Filters 1.25?
Got a 500mm f/6.3 lens from the same brand, honestly quite shocked by the quality of the image which is, really acceptable for amateur photographers.
Does this lens have autofocus?
@@jelaniroos No, but still useable if youre not pixel peeping
@@Jpeglism Ok, thank you.
Givn a choice between this lens and something like a Bower/Vivitar 500 mm lens, what would be preferable?
Well, i didn’t try Bower or Vivitar, so i can’t answer to that question
Msotly the same optical block, except your Bower/Vivitar may be better built quality (and quality assurance). The 500/f8 lens we see around at cheap price are all copies of Samyang lens made long time ago (and based on a Tamron 500mm f8 design). Check on mftlenses.com
I'm using one of these (a Quatenary f8) on a Nikon; I get an image in the viewfinder, but I click and all I get is a black... No picture, just black... The camera is set on Manual Mode so that is not the problem. What is the problem?
Have you tried a slower shutter speed?
Most likely because it's a manual lens, so the camera doesn't detect it/doesn't know what it is. Cameras often have settings to let you take a photo even when no lens is detected /'without a lens'.
This should be in the camera manual.
Can I just ask what camera you use?
Canon EOS 70D
What is the difference between an F8 & F6 lens....?
The amount of light that the lens can put into the sensor. It’s about the overture. Example: an f1.8 is much luminous than an f16.
Hello ! Thank you for the review, where can I find this one?
SpyrosAlpha Hi! i got it from Aliexpress
Thank you !!

You can get it from Ebay too.
What are the small lens you screwed into the back of the lens for ?
they are different filters
We call this a filter... we don't screw "lens into lens".
500mm mirror lens vs lightdow 420 -800mm which is better? Please reply anyone who have any idea
I would prefer 500mm mirror lens because of its size
R u really happy with this lens? How much u will rate this lens out of 10?
You got a lot of zoom for 95%.
No other lens can beat that.
Judge by yourself by watching the video.
500/600mm lenses from Canon are way better but cost 7-15x that price..
Is it compatible with Sonya7III?
I believe you can tell a seller to include adapter if he still sells
Can I use this lens for Canon 650d?
Yes
Is this compatible with canon 350d?
Yes
@@oldcomedyclub1493 thanks for the reply. better than kitlens?
This lens work on eos m50 mirrorless?
I think you will need a special adapter for mirrorless
@@silentreviews7655 yes I have Mount adapter, I use EF and EF-s lenses also,
@@bahadurali4898 You will also need a T ring to EF adapter.
Still waiting for that "review" that you've mention in the title
Clean your camera sensor
anotherone of these speechles whatevers, that explain everything and nothing at the same time. Well at least there is some noise
So a mute made this video. Shoulda hired someone who could talk and tell about the good and bad points. You know explain things.
A fixed zoom. You can't adjust. All you can adjust is the focus. What is the point in such a lens.
Never raise the center colounm on a tripod, it will vibrate !
Now $200
I still found it for $100
It's on Amazon for $100
JEESH! Grabbed one from a thrift store for $11...
Another shy mute. 😒
This mirror lenses is true garbage
How?
For 95$ its really not.
Would be interesting you say why, because now it's your comment that's mostly garbage.
