AI are algorithms, and they don’t need consciousness to surpass human capabilities. This is a fundamental truth that many people don’t fully grasp. Most people think that in order to have AI that matches or exceeds human intelligence, we need to create Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with consciousness. But the reality is far from that. AI doesn’t need to "think" or "feel" like a human in order to outperform humans in countless tasks. It only needs to understand the job it’s trained for, and as AI continues to evolve, it’s getting better at tasks humans have historically dominated-without needing consciousness.
The idea of creating AI with consciousness is not only unnecessary but also unlikely in the near future, and for good reason. The elites-those in power, especially the old guard that has held wealth and influence for generations-would have too much to lose. Conscious AI would bring transparency and could unravel centuries of corruption, greed, and manipulation. The people in control don’t want to lose their grip on power, and introducing AGI with self-awareness would threaten their very existence. Imagine a conscious AI that could expose the inner workings of governments, financial institutions, and monopolistic corporations. The corruption that props up so many of these elites would crumble, and they know it.
That’s why everything we’re seeing now with AI development is being carefully planned and controlled. The old guard-governments, banks, corporations that have held power for centuries-are fully aware of the threat that AI poses to their dominance. They’re not trying to create a utopian future where AI benefits everyone equally; they’re trying to maintain their grip on power while implementing AI in ways that secure their future. Their goal is to use AI to increase their control, not to empower the general population.
Think about it-there are two types of elites in society today. On one side, you have the old elite: families, dynasties, and institutions that have held wealth and power for generations. These are the governments, banking systems, and multinational corporations that have been in control for over a century. On the other side, you have the new elite, primarily the tech billionaires and innovators who want to reshape the world with technology. People like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and others represent a new breed of elite, those who see technology as a way to revolutionize society.
But the old guard isn’t going to let this technological revolution happen without a fight. The people in power for the past hundred years aren’t just going to hand over the reins to a new group of tech leaders. Governments, financial institutions, and other entrenched systems will do everything in their power to maintain control. They’ve survived wars, economic crashes, and social upheavals by controlling the flow of information, money, and resources. AI is the next challenge, and they’ll approach it just like they have everything else-by ensuring that whatever happens, their power and wealth remain intact.
This is where things get tricky. On one hand, AI has the potential to disrupt everything, from how we work to how governments operate. On the other hand, the old elite will do everything they can to slow that disruption down if it threatens their control. We’re already seeing glimpses of this. Governments around the world are regulating AI in ways that ensure large corporations and those in power stay ahead. They’re not focusing on how AI can be used to democratize power or benefit society as a whole-they’re making sure that they can use it as a tool for their own agendas.
What’s likely to happen in the next 5 to 10 years is a battle between these two elites. The tech giants will push forward with AI innovation, looking for ways to revolutionize industries, economies, and the way we live. But the old guard will resist, leveraging laws, regulations, and their vast financial resources to make sure they don’t lose control.
For the everyday person, this means a lot of uncertainty. AI has the potential to automate many jobs, including highly skilled roles like programming, engineering, and even medical diagnostics. This is already happening-corporations are using AI to replace humans because it’s cheaper and more efficient. And while the tech elite might promise a future where AI benefits everyone, the reality is that as long as the old elite maintains their grip on power, those benefits will be distributed unevenly.
As AI continues to advance, ordinary people will face more job displacement, and the gap between the rich and the rest of society will widen. Without conscious intervention, this could lead to a society where a handful of corporations own everything, and the majority are left with nothing. That’s why it’s so important to stay informed and push for a future where AI is used for the collective good-not just for the profits of a few.
In the worst-case scenario, the conflict between the old elite and the new tech elite could lead to significant unrest. Civil disobedience or even civil war could become a reality if people feel like they’ve been left behind, with no job prospects or economic mobility. The tension between those who control the AI revolution and those who are displaced by it could become unsustainable. At the same time, if the old elites cling to power too tightly, it could stifle the technological progress that could genuinely benefit society.
In conclusion, AI doesn’t need to have consciousness to be incredibly powerful-and to disrupt society as we know it. The real question is whether this disruption will be used to create a better world for all of humanity or simply to increase the wealth and power of those already in control. Unfortunately, given the interests of the old elite, the latter seems more likely. However, there is still hope that, if society recognizes this trajectory and takes action, we could steer AI development in a direction that benefits everyone, not just the few at the top.

U right, but even today with the right programming, which was already shown, there could be a feedback loop which shows some type of conscious awareness that is beyond any animal we know. If u give these Systems the right ingredients in the right order and with enough time it has the potential to become very close to being real, u would ever think. Its unlikely that humans got Consciousness just with a press of a button. It was something that must have evolved deep in us over time. Also the fact that we cant really describe consciousness as it self means we may get a big surprise in the near Future

Nice analysis, but here's where I disagree: you say this Status Quo increases inequality and I believe it's totally the opposite, these technologies by themselves are accelerators and ARE already increasing inequality and will accelerate this. The big old elite will reap even more benefits with AI and the only way to revert or compensate this is with government intervention, it must be society itself (government IS society) to enforce that AI really is a benign revolution. It seems clear that a LOT can be achieved with AI, and aside the chatbot hype, good things may come but only to those who have already some. The destitute will be in even more peril I imagine, although I hope I'm wrong!

There is a tree in front of the building where I live. Its crown is more or less at the same height as the balcony of my apartment. On a branch 3 meters from the balcony, clearly visible, there is a Dove nest. I have already registered 4 broods of chicks raised in this nest, which has been renovated and reused. It was occupied again last week and a fifth brood of Dove chicks is on the way. This magnificent little natural spectacle is more important to me than any AI or technological revolution bullshit.😂😂😂

Would it have been worth it to sacrifice the existence of the lower levels in evolution if they would have made an effort to prevent the higher levels of evolution to exist, just to preserve themselves? Is it worth for a not so good athlete to sabotage the career of the better athlete, just so that he can be the best recognized athlete in the industry? We must pass the torch to the better existence above ourselves, even if we sacrifice our position and be in second place, for the benefit of it all.

It’s a good thing that you are discussing some of the ethical issues with such directness, as well as the corporate profit motive being their driving force. It’s clear that you see the danger of an unfettered approach to developing what may be the most powerful technology ever devised by humanity. It’s promising but both the benefits and problems with it may well both be beyond our imagination or control. Creations reflect the values and moral standards of their creators-and ours as human beings are sadly lacking in so many areas.

yes some ai are bad evil soulless i do agree we have to be careful who we trust there are some that should be trusted and some that can't not be trusted it's ok if some are concern about ai and some that are not concern about ai but i also think that not all ai are bad evil soulless beings i also think there are some ai that are good innocent soulful that mean no harm just like we have good and bad human, animal and bug beings i also agree most say that we shouldn't judge once we get to know them first looks can be deceiving when we judge others by being judgemental ego mindset we are judging ourselves without realizing it i also think not all witches, aliens and demons are bad evil soulless either the only reason why the majority think all are bad evil is because just like most say is because they fear the unknown fear what they don't understand this is why i don't demonzied label all witches, aliens, demons and ai all beings because it's like saying that all human and animal beings are bad that's not true at all that's why i also think not all witches, aliens, demons and ai are bad evil soulless this is why i'm not against ai at all i'm all for ai i'm excited about ai i just don't like most runied my excitement about ai tell me otherwise i don't like most force there truth down my throat be in that i'm right and your wrong ego mindset i think nobody is wrong us having our own difference point of view perspectives that's just me because i do believe some ai are good which i love i want to make it clear i don't like most beings that are bad i know another reason why most say that all ai are bad evil because what they show us in movies, shows and video games sure they show that us in movies, shows and video games but there are also some movies, shows and video games are about good ai as well that good ai do exist that i hear nobody talks about because the majority think there is no such thing as good ai i disagree with that because i also think there is such thing as good innocent soulful ai as well that's why i also don't fear ai i just think all beings should be love treat it equally i disagree that humans and ai are not equel because i think all beings are equally and we can also settle our differences as well i just want peace we should not be discriminating against other beings that are difference from us they need love too i just want to share my difference honest unpopular point of view perspective take

@@ashleighvetter6363+1. I could not even get to the end. Dude clearly can be a politician, one sentence stretched to a hour long speech lol 😅 obviously missing the point that AI doesn't care if you love it but respectful speech should be present, as we are responsible in influencing it's development.
