The fact that he's type 1 diabetic and plays at such a high level is incredible. As a type 1 diabetic myself, he's truly an example and an inspiration.
back in the 2014/15 season when he first started to gain notoriety, the first things people knew about him where: A: often needs to take insulin & a few jelly babies to manage being a type 1 diabetic B: from somewhere in the city of Plymouth C: runs more effortless than any other player despite never looking to change from 2nd gear & will still burn ppl for gas
His skill set is at a very high level across the board combined with his excellent decision making (see the kick against Quin’s as an example) makes him a great outside centre when paired with a hard hitting centre he can be devastating
@@calumorr1317 What do you mean, that is a lot. I looked and was expecting to see 60 or 70 (not thousand) not 78000 plus. haha What does that earn you, how does it work?
Biased as a Chief, but I think his all round game is excellent. Never understood why at 6’3” / 15 stone & adding mass he was considered too small for an international centre. Great video as always Andrew. Not sure if you have it, but I’m 100% Rob Baxter mouthed ‘good boy Sladey’ after his Prem final try over Wasps... what do you reckon?! Thanks again for the upload Mr Forde
Just like English team selection: the best players (or in this case content creators), don't get the rewards their talent justifies... Great video, as always. Thanks
Pure class. Intelligent. Skillful. Fast. Deceptive. Strong. And mentally tough. Farrell Tui Slade is one of the best 10 12 13 axis in world rugby IMO. Eddie got the final wrong. Congrats Sladey on a stellar season, 6 nations, European champion and the Prem. Surely a Lions shoe in, not sure if he starts though.
What are peoples thoughts on smith, Farrell, slade taking 10, 12 and 13 jerseys. With doubts over tuilagi this may well be the world cup line up. 3 of the best play makers in the game.
Would have been nice to see his intercept and kick against aus at the world cup but great vid and well done for including his monster kick against sarries
I didn't appreciate Slade enough for so long, it wasn't until that game where we put him at fullback and he got MoTM that I realised how truly quality he is
Probably the smartest and most complete center today, he's got such a rugby "flair", he'd be amazing in a team Like Stade Toulousain. He's skillful, great with his hands, great decision maker, great kicker and as brave as you could hope for with a good tackling technique. The fact that he's a type 1 diabetic makes it even more incredible
You watch that and you wonder how he doesn't make the squad for the RWC while we take 3 slow coaches at scrum half, but you look at Borthwick and the England set up over the last few years and you realise that they want to go back to 10 man rugby and any flair is sidelined.
He isn't the fastest or the strongest out there but he has a great rugby brain and a very all round skill set Probably underrated defender at the 13 channel as he reads the game well
Agree but you'd be prone to injury also if you played as many games as him. The demands on English rugby players is ridiculous and nearly twice as much as other nations.
@@dazeng4633 But im not arguing that I would be able to handle the burden of English rugby. Most normal individuals such as myself will never understand the physical burden of professional rugby. But some players are still prone to injury despite the level they're playing at.
Despite him being English and playing for Exeter (aka the team that won the Champions Cup by playing some of the ugliest rugby I've ever seen in the semi and the final, against french teams that were far more entertaining), he is by far my favourite english player. For me the most classy european player, ahead of N'tamack (who could take the spot with a bit more experience). And I'm French, so not keen on using englishmen as references for good things.
N'tmack is far from Slade's Level, he's great but not as creative and skillfull as the chief's center even with "more experience". I'm french from Toulouse so definetely not biased haha
@@imanton_20 Well, for me they're basically the same player, with the same qualities and skillset. Given the year they had, I'd say they're currently at the same level. The only difference is their age: N'tamack is younger, so less experienced (of course), BUT that also means that he has more time to get better. Basically, N'tamack has a better progression margin which, in the long run, will make him better.
@@lolivey8393 Mate N’tamack at the same level ? Are we watching the same games ? Of course he’s younger they are definitely not the same player. Slade is much better ball in hands than the frenchman, he has a flair that ntamack doesn’t have. The frenchman is great but they definitely didn’t play at the same level this season. Just need to look at his game against exeter and slade’s game against Toulouse or Racing 92
@@imanton_20 In those 2 games combined, the only good thing Slade did was the try against Racing. And it was Nowell who did all the work. Other than that, he was pretty average, good in defense and that's it. N'tamack wasn't really good either. If you look at their whole carrer, ofc Slade is better, same as Smith is better than Dupont. But if you look at this year only, they're on the same level (arguably better for Dupont v Smith). I mean, at international level, N'tamack is the best FH in the northern hemisphere by some margin this year.

Absolutely class. Both the video and the player
Agreed. As an Ireland fan I hope he gets picked for the lions (if it goes ahead)
One of the best centres on earth right now.
His kick to the corner against Sarries in the semi final was incredible
A true footballer. As an Irish 18 year old I’ve grown up to see him develop from his first cap to where he is now. My favourite player since 2019.
My favourite player at the moment. Thank you Andrew, for another class video!

criminally underrated

Is he that big? I was thinking he was more like 6 feet 14 stone. He certainly isn't the behemoths so many centres are now but I rate him
@John Mitchell Ford plays 10
@John Mitchell I think you’ve got them mixed up. George Ford has never played at inside centre in his career
@John Mitchell Not funny.
He's my mate. He aint that big! Unreal player but you've exaggerated his size more than a tinder profile
At last a rugby video with decent music
