Great video. Thank you so much. I am watching this series with June Hemmons Hiatt 2 years and a half after it went live and it just so happens that I am seriously considering enrolling in the tkga Master Hand knitter Certificate program and I think June's book will definitely be a great resource. All the information shared here was so helpful. Getting the book :)
Just trying to give up parlour knitting after years of doing it efficiently :D One of the most informative interviews! Thankyou both..Now to go get the book!
The CEO of The Knitting Guild Association - Arenda Holladay knits in the parlor method. And she is the best and fasted knitter that I know. Each person has their biases, whether they think they do or not. It is all OK. Every method of knitting is a good method if your fabric is good. Happy knitting. June's book is invaluable as a reference, and I love reading how she writes.
I bought my copy from Amazon as a Kindle book so that I could have a copy on my iphone, tablet and laptop. Being able to search for a particular topic is a must for me and it is more portable and doesn't take up space in my small craft space.
Very helpful video. I found the idea of garment charts so helpful as I frequently change the neckline on knitting patterns. I use Word or Excel to chart rows and stitches.
1:02:31 Cast on great for the tops of socks.....I am so grateful for all of the work that you and other knitters have undertaken so that I can just enjoy the process of knitting and learning. I can just "sponge" it all up as y'all share your knowledge with us. :)
June's book arrived 2 days ago and I have just started going through it and it is wonderful. I am learning so much even though I have been knitting for 60 years. This interview is even more inspiring than the first one. So sorry that time zone makes it impossible to see the interviews live but always catch up later in the day - Sunday afternoon.
I loved every minute of it, glitches and all. I am one of those who preordered the second edition of June’s book and waited for months until it was released. I love it so much that I have the physical book and the kindle version as well. Often I search on kindle and then open the hardback to read. This was very fun and interesting to watch and learn. Thank you. Cristina (Portugal).
Hi, Suzanne, I have June's book but still found your interview with her fascinating. It's difficult to absorb all of the material she covers in her book in one (or even multiple) readings, and I found myself, as I listened to her descriptions (even when I thought I had read the info previously), having "ah-ha" moments. Thanks to you both.
Will June Hemmons Hiatt be writing a History of Knitting book? I'm impressed with her Principles of Knitting and would love to see her dive into the history of knitting with it's ancient beginnings and cross cultural expressions over thousands of years.
Great interview! I kept grabbing post-it notes to look up all these techniques in her book, which I just purchased a couple of weeks ago. I keep POK under my knitting chair so I don't have to get up to use it.
Hi Suzanne! Thank you for the wonderful video with June Hemmons Hiatt. Do you know if this book would ever be available as an ebook? I love the book but it is so big and heavy! Also there are several cast ons that were discussed here that I am not familiar with and I would love to see videos for each of them.
My mum would put glycerine in royal icing for Christmas cake to stop it hardening. So perhaps glycerine in the water might make the knitted fabric soft.
I have used glycerine as a stain remover and in icing. Have used a tablespoon of milk in water to soak organdie fabric for a couple of hours to soften it..,...but hair conditioner for lopi like wool.
01:20:10 What about video instructions to acompany the instructions in the book? It is sooo interesting to see the swatches referencing to instructions in the book. Imagine the value it would add to the already very valuable book. So so interesting to see knitting from the perspective of science.
This graphing is *genius!* I love it

Wonderful!
The patterned graphs make total sense. That is sort of how I once made needlepoint patterns.

Thank you for watching. I love the book and June too. It is so fun to get to know her a bit.

Great interview! Would love to see another one.
Me too! We will let her have a break for awhile though. I think it is fun and inspirational for everyone.

Wonderful! I have mine on my bedside table for before bed reading. Works for me.

I wish we could see the live chat after the live feed.
There must be a way to do that. Does anyone know?
It may just take a little longer for it to show up. I checked on my other live stream replays and it is there.

So so interesting to see knitting from the perspective of science.
I am working on that idea. Thank you so much!
Thank you too! Your dedication and passion has opened a whole new world to me regarding knitting.
