In a hot climate country roaches are common. In a cold weather place like new york. Once the found roach which is unusual, actually domolished the house because of it.
To be fair, they live in the Ortigas area and so the Filipinos that they see bring dogs to the malls are usually middle class to upper middle class. You will not see as Aspin or Askal in diapers in a typical street in Tondo , Manila for example.
The hired help pressing the buttons in the elevators in the malls are actually stewards and attendants to help the disabled, seniors, people with children or cargo. Also, they discourage reckless behavior and horseplay from unruly customers. Some of them might actually be security guards wearing store uniforms.
The security/elevator people also make sure to assist and prioritize the seniors, pregnant women, disabled, parents with toddlers, people with shopping carts. The rest who are able use escalators or the stairs.
The elevator attendance is good. For maintenance because for maintenance purpose the mall owner save money from elevator maintenence. People usually destroy elevators. Once you have them mall owner save lots of money in maintenance
nah main purpose of them is marketing strategy and help/assist costumer ~ same thing in some japanese mall and mall goers dont usually destroys elevators inside malls LOL if you remember the viral elevator girl ~ cheridel alejandro it makes mall goers happy and entertained
Well they put those jobs to help people get jobs. Also if you don’t have elevator operators some people play around up and down. For your roaches concern, every time you move to humid places even here in Las Vegas and California is alot of roaches

As for roaches, those small ones indoors seem more about waste management than the climate. I didn’t see so many in other Southeast Asian countries with similar weather.

Maybe we should throw our waste in proper place each time, cleaning the kitchen free of waste after each use, cover or secure food so crawlers won't smell a thing, etc... even in trains?? haha agree with the sweet coffee, too. I was shocked with the coffee (flat white) in Australia when I first had it. The next time, I asked for a sugar syrup and they probably knew that I was a tourist from the PH. LOL
grew up with my mum always talking about eating healthy. i like to think i dont have a sweet tooth anyway. that said, yes its always a conscious effort when eating out and so i have become sort of a loyal customer of businesses who default asks preferred sugar level. i think over the last decade, theres been a surge of healthy options in malls, you just need to seek them out. not much can be done about bugs in the tropics. its a reality we deal with regularly. its not as bad in my current home, i guess theyre well fed somewhere else, that they dont need to come in my house. we have a compost pit out in the backyard 😅. i was amused with your disclaimer and respect your impressions. youll have more culture shock moments the longer you stay here thats for sure. just take in the bad with the good, im sure theres more good anyway 😊

About the food, yes mostly the people in the Philippines didn’t care much about healthy eating. Sweets is addictive even chicken adobo they add brown sugar. That’s why there are many diabetics and hypertension in the Philippines bcoz they love sugary foods and animal fats.
Agree with you but the sugar in Adobo is not meant to make Adobo sweet but rather acts as an equalizer to the Sourness and Saltiness. This is subjective as some folks don't put sugar, but rather dilute it with more water.

go to Macau, there are so many cockroaches there especially if the flooring is wood parquet, if you peel it up there are too many underneath, the garbage put them in a black bag because the plastic is treated cockroach will not go in, sugar can't do about it because we are one of the big producers of sugar in the world
I agree with you, but there's a lot more and some of it is negative unnecessary jobs, like taxi and jeepney dispatchers, too much traffic inforcers instead of using traffic lights which is cheaper. I have been working for Philip Morris in Russia. Upon my observation Russians are much poorer compared to other Europeans . In Moscow there are a lot of stray dogs relying foods from the passerby. Mosquitoes are widespread in Russia and can be annoyance to tourists. In the States mosquitoes are sprayed to control their population. I don’t know why a lot of Russians don’t smile. Is it due to cold weather? Canada is cold too but they are happy people
@dannyestrada8572 You're right; Russia has so many natural resources and potential, but unfortunately, due to the government, much of that wealth doesn’t reach the people, which keeps many living in difficult conditions. About smiling-it’s not as common in Russian culture to smile at strangers, partly because life can be tough, and showing emotions that openly isn’t the norm. I actually admire the American friendliness and warmth towards strangers! In fact, this was one of the reasons I left Russia 10 years ago, along with the weather of course. 😊

i think the cockroach invasion is a serious one. main contributor most likely is the disposal of the trash. we still dont have the technology thus most of them would be landfills

It's my frustration as well in the Philippines as someone in low carb diet for more than a year now. In many restaurants, you have no option to remove rice in the menu. They will charge you with the same price even if you don't get the rice. I always order 2 dishes because most meals are actually just more of a rice and less the dish. I came to realize the worrying amount of net carbs or sugar I was consuming daily in normal Filipino diet. It's not surprising that we have a shorter life span. There are already a number of Filipinos who are eating healthy. Hopefully, we will grow in the number to force restaurants and other food companies to change the way they conduct business and lower down cost of healthy products.
It's not a la carte pricing. Rice comes with main course like potatoes in American restos. Taking it out doesn't change the price of your plate. Some restos I've been to rice is not included, they usually ask if I want rice.
@@JAB63050 Often times, restaurants who offer ala carte are those in mid range market, which most Filipinos cannot eat at daily. If you don't include rice, they would assume it's for take out. Karenderyas price the rice and dish separately but there are not a lot of Karenderyas in commercial districts where offices are located. They are usually in residential areas. Their food are also pre-cooked and are usually not reheated before serving.
@arniebella22000 I totally get your frustration! It's tough sticking to a low-carb diet with so many rice-heavy meals. I think American influence has led to a lot of junk food in Filipino eating habits, which makes it harder. While I don’t think rice itself is bad-it can be a healthy carb like in Japanese diets-I hope we see more options for healthier meals in the future!

Rice is staple food in the Philippines. Normally Filipinos eat rice at least 3 times a day. So it is impossible to cancel rice for the general Filipino population's food consumption. Citing eating rice contributes to shorter lifespan of Filipinos is debatable and needs statistics for proof of facts. 😊
I respectfully disagree about the plastic. I'm not putting down my ethnicity, but when it comes to cleanliness, particularly on public roadways, we're far from pristine.

What I meant about plastic use is that living in Europe, you often get unlimited plastic bags at supermarkets and drinks in plastic cups with straws at fast-food chains. It’s improving, but I was pleasantly surprised that the Philippines is ahead in those areas! Also, I noticed that rubbish sorting is still pretty rare, while I saw many people doing it here in the Philippines, and I’ve started doing it too!

I noticed you live in Amisa it’s Punta Engano barangay of Lapu Lapu Macan island and it’s the second last condo on the edge of that island and getting there and going out is nightmare, how I know is ii lived there for a month in 2020 and even it’s a nice condo, but it’s location kills it. my rent was 15k pesos back then but now we have 3 bedroom house in gated subdivision also here Lapu Lapu and we paying 20k i’m sure you guys soon will move out of there. Regarding food, is it not fascinating how a tropical archipelago rich in vegetation and fruits consume more unhealthy artificial food than what is already available naturally? It is mostly because of western influence, particularly the U.S. If you look at the South East Asian nations, Philippines is probably on top of the list when it comes to consumption of Fast food and basically unhealthy food. You probably don't know this but there are a LOT of Filipinos who do not eat fresh fruits and even cooked vegetables.

Roaches are mostly in places unclean. There are lots of clean places in the metro, especially upscale ones. Looking at your background, I dont see a single roach. But you need to learn to live with it.

The malls recquire pets to wear diapers.We also have dogs;at home we dont let them wear diapers..only when we bring them to public places..

go to Macau, there are so many cockroaches there especially if the flooring is wood parquet, if you peel it up there are too many underneath, the garbage put them in a black bag because the plastic is treated cockroach will not go in, sugar can't do about it because we are one of the big producers of sugar in the world

I agree with you, but there's a lot more and some of it is negative unnecessary jobs, like taxi and jeepney dispatchers, too much traffic inforcers instead of using traffic lights which is cheaper. Fixers in some government offices. Everybody's shouting in the market to call customers even in the Mall Food Court name it

I have been working for Philip Morris in Russia. Upon my observation Russians are much poorer compared to other Europeans . In Moscow there are a lot of stray dogs relying foods from the passerby. Mosquitoes are widespread in Russia and can be annoyance to tourists. In the States mosquitoes are sprayed to control their population. I don’t know why a lot of Russians don’t smile. Is it due to cold weather? Canada is cold too but they are happy people
@dannyestrada8572 You're right; Russia has so many natural resources and potential, but unfortunately, due to the government, much of that wealth doesn’t reach the people, which keeps many living in difficult conditions. About smiling-it’s not as common in Russian culture to smile at strangers, partly because life can be tough, and showing emotions that openly isn’t the norm. I actually admire the American friendliness and warmth towards strangers! In fact, this was one of the reasons I left Russia 10 years ago, along with the weather of course. 😊
Russians are the friendliest people in Europe. I have experience rudeness in 🇫🇷 France. I would never go back there to visit again🤬

That's mostly in BGC and not found everywhere else. The dog diaper and prams are because of strict regulations in BGC and shopping malls.

The good thing for a dog with a diaper specially in a Mall is because they pee a lot and it smelly that is why it is required.

i think the cockroach invasion is a serious one. main contributor most likely is the disposal of the trash. we still dont have the technology thus most of them would be landfills

It's my frustration as well in the Philippines as someone in low carb diet for more than a year now. In many restaurants, you have no option to remove rice in the menu. They will charge you with the same price even if you don't get the rice. I always order 2 dishes because most meals are actually just more of a rice and less the dish. I came to realize the worrying amount of net carbs or sugar I was consuming daily in normal Filipino diet. It's not surprising that we have a shorter life span. There are already a number of Filipinos who are eating healthy. Hopefully, we will grow in the number to force restaurants and other food companies to change the way they conduct business and lower down cost of healthy products.
It's not a la carte pricing. Rice comes with main course like potatoes in American restos. Taking it out doesn't change the price of your plate. Some restos I've been to rice is not included, they usually ask if I want rice.
@@JAB63050 Often times, restaurants who offer ala carte are those in mid range market, which most Filipinos cannot eat at daily. If you don't include rice, they would assume it's for take out. Karenderyas price the rice and dish separately but there are not a lot of Karenderyas in commercial districts where offices are located. They are usually in residential areas. Their food are also pre-cooked and are usually not reheated before serving.
@arniebella22000 I totally get your frustration! It's tough sticking to a low-carb diet with so many rice-heavy meals. I think American influence has led to a lot of junk food in Filipino eating habits, which makes it harder. While I don’t think rice itself is bad-it can be a healthy carb like in Japanese diets-I hope we see more options for healthier meals in the future!

Rice is staple food in the Philippines. Normally Filipinos eat rice at least 3 times a day. So it is impossible to cancel rice for the general Filipino population's food consumption. Citing eating rice contributes to shorter lifespan of Filipinos is debatable and needs statistics for proof of facts. 😊

I respectfully disagree about the plastic. I'm not putting down my ethnicity, but when it comes to cleanliness, particularly on public roadways, we're far from pristine.

What I meant about plastic use is that living in Europe, you often get unlimited plastic bags at supermarkets and drinks in plastic cups with straws at fast-food chains. It’s improving, but I was pleasantly surprised that the Philippines is ahead in those areas! Also, I noticed that rubbish sorting is still pretty rare, while I saw many people doing it here in the Philippines, and I’ve started doing it too!

Growing Russian communities now in Mindanao and cebu. It's more easy to Russians to live and relate because Russian are Christians.

The original purpose of WD-40 (I believe is to lubricate metal objects that come into contact with each other, but it also turns out to be the ideal bug repellent too.

I noticed you live in Amisa it’s Punta Engano barangay of Lapu Lapu Macan island and it’s the second last condo on the edge of that island and getting there and going out is nightmare, how I know is ii lived there for a month in 2020 and even it’s a nice condo, but it’s location kills it. my rent was 15k pesos back then but now we have 3 bedroom house in gated subdivision also here Lapu Lapu and we paying 20k i’m sure you guys soon will move out of there.

Regarding food, is it not fascinating how a tropical archipelago rich in vegetation and fruits consume more unhealthy artificial food than what is already available naturally? It is mostly because of western influence, particularly the U.S. If you look at the South East Asian nations, Philippines is probably on top of the list when it comes to consumption of Fast food and basically unhealthy food. You probably don't know this but there are a LOT of Filipinos who do not eat fresh fruits and even cooked vegetables.

The western influence, especially from the U.S., really plays a big role in that. It’s eye-opening to see how many Filipinos don’t incorporate fresh fruits and cooked vegetables into their diets!
@@LoveLiveDiscover If you go to Jollibee in Vietnam, you will see that their menu looks a lot greener, meaning there are lots more veggies on the burger as opposed to the typical Jollibee menu in the Philippines. That is most like because Vietnamese people really love eating fresh veggies and if Jollibee does not put veggies on their menu then no one will come to eat.

My parents got to live 92 and 88 years old eating rice because rice is life, in fact, they ate sweet fresh fruits and sweet desserts when these were available. We're not into diet styles like what other countries have where diets are becoming their religion😂. Cockroaches? Did you research about tropical countries having those of any sizes? It doesn't shock me that foreigners talk condescending about their bad and shocking experiences in the Phils and yet, they stay for a while or even live in the country. 😮

And about the cockroaches-those small ones indoors seem more about waste management than the climate. I didn’t see so many in other Southeast Asian countries with similar weather.
Roaches are mostly in places unclean. There are lots of clean places in the metro, especially upscale ones. Looking at your background, I dont see a single roach. But you need to learn to live with it.
