@Ross I recently took a cutting h from our family Mission fig in California and brought it back to Tennessee with me. Initially it lost all of its leaves; however there was sign of life so I kept it in water for a few weeks and it grew a leaf bud. My husband planted it in mulch and it’s continues to produce leaves. It’s still not out of the woods. It’s relatively small (less than 12”) and each new leaf has evident of this virus. We have sprayed with a fungicide and bactericide with neem added. It’s continuing to produce leaves but I know it’s not healthy. This little cutting means a lot to me. How can I save it?

Great content; thank you so much! I have some year old figs with this virus on several leaves...I believe I need to prune these and improve the soil in the pots. Thanks😊

I've had an Anastasia Beetles. Luckily it was just my Brown Turkey that was infected beyond repair. A few of my cuttings had one to three. I took a safety pin and heated it with a lighter and jabbed the holes. I then sprayed heavily with Neem oil. I managed to save my cuttings. I had to cut and burn the Brown Turkey.

Can I prune them this late without stopping fig production?

Hey Ross - thanks for the video.
What are your thoughts on the fig bud mite leading to FMV. I learned that from someone on Reddit. But it makes sense. I had a plant start great then a few weeks later, fmv all over the place. Theory being the mites cycle stared a little later and therefore the early growth looked good. I copied this:
Aceria ficus, also known as the fig bud mite, is an eriophyid mite that affects fig trees. These tiny mites colonize the buds and young leaves of fig trees, causing various issues.

I have 2 White Madeira #1 cuttings that are two years old. Just planted them in ground and I live in Phoenix. The top leaves look healthy but the lower growth the leaves are mottled. Only one trunk…

Ross, that unknown Rome - is there a reason you don’t cut off a healthy cutting and just abandon the base?

I have limited material from this variety. I don't want to abandon that tree yet.

Do you think trees can out grow FMV?

    • @RossRaddi

Depends on the tree, the severity of the virus, the situation, etc... I think outgrow is the wrong term. I mentioned in this video how it can be lessened or the symptoms become unnoticeable.
