    I like the contactors that you can take the front cover off and inspect them .
    Lately I've been dealing with supposedly new Siemens contactors with flimzy @ss push in connectors and you can't take the cover off to inspect them for burn marks , carbon , and such .
    Bloody annoying .
    Btw , one neatly organized van that is , Kudos !

      LoL, My vans a miss, that's why I haven't done a video of it. The contactor that I used does have a removable cover. Thanks for watching!

    Good vid. its sooo nice when its a nice straight foreward repair. " use your sniffer " yep, no special tools required. i have not seen the new malco 5/15 , 3/8. ill check it out. i only thought they had the 5/16/,1/4.
    must be a new prod. i use the wire tie inside another wre tie thing too. good secure for stuff. anti shaky / antibreaky. like # 20.

      Thank you OC👍👍. Using all you're natural senses like smell, touch, sight, heating and occasionally taste will tell you fairly quick what's wrong if you know the sequence of operation. Thanks 4 checking it out.! I just got that chuck 2 weeks ago, I have a link in there description.

      im in agreement with you there to a Point. " Taste " i DON't think so ! only way im using my taste sense is when im brushing a hoshizaki ice machine evaporator with that monster brush and the shit goes in my mouth by accident. otherwise it AIN'T happening.

    Nothing like the smell of burnt electrical stuff. Has a similar smell to rubbing belts or dragging brakes. That's how I found out my surge protectors took a hit one day. Looking forward to the next video.

    ive Got a 8,000 lb service truck & i still dont have the Correct part on my truck. Said EVERY TECH , Every day of the Week. i Looked in my computer the other day & was looking at the motor section that has all the actual motors i have installed in the last 17 years and there was 50 Different Motors in that section. These are actual motors ive sold over the years. So, I Would Have to Carry 50 Motors on my Truck if i was to be assured of having the Right motor for any job. maybe. lol.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 роки тому +1

      I get that. I'm just used to carrying a little of everything on my truck where I almost never had to go get parts. That's a little different than where I'm at now. It's actually interesting how many calls I fix with little to no parts.

    • @OcRefrig
      @OcRefrig 4 роки тому +1

      i Get that. i actually put together a little husky go bag for initial call in. a little 12" bag. its been quite nice not having to haul a 40lb bag into calls unless necessary. which is few and far between now that i have it setup. ill have to do a vid on it.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 роки тому +1

      @@OcRefrig Yea, make a video of it. Everytime I pick my most common needed tools I end up going back to the truck. What I have in my tp-XL has about everything I need and maybe only 1-3 extra unneeded tools.

      @@HVACRSurvival By the way, if you remember the Lennox furnace you helped me with, it did turn out to be the board. The heat exchanger was easy to get out and looked surprisingly OK. I also checked with my CO meter and read "0" so being a rental, it's working and they know about the induction draft motor. Never know, but they look set for the rest of the season! Thanks for your help on that one!

    maybe ants or other bugs getting into the contactor keeping it from pulling in fully, but enough to still run. that would make coil current higher and it cook itself.
    alternate thoughts, something in the control circuit shorting to ground and around 120v through coil when it's not being called for, I'm not sure if it would stay pulled in or pull in or what the current would be and it cannot be calculated easily since there's a moving part. that sounds like a nice bench test setup :)

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  4 роки тому +2

      My best guess would be faulty wire insulation on the coil. The contacts weren't welded shut, it was jammed in place and would not move as if the wires got so hot that it melted down the plastic around the coil. It could have been from the contacts not pulling in and the iron core did not absorb the heat from there magnet, same problem if you don't put a solenoid valve back on and it is energized. Total melt down.
