Just a FYI for anyone wanting to do this. I just completed the job took all but 20 minutes but you don't have to take off the exhaust. There's more than enough clearance to pull the servo out the back. Otherwise thanks for the helpful video!
I did this exactly how you guys did it in the video on my '21 XR. Such an improvement in sound, especially when you buzz up the rpm on the road! It feels like it picked up a little power too! Love this bike, thanks for the video guys!
Thanks to your video I saved myself from buying a manifold. Today i got my serve buddy through the post. I didn't remove the cables or the servo just got my hand to the servo wire clip unplugged it and plugged I the servo buddy and wow what a difference it made. This mod is a must sound great but not annoying on a long ride. 👍
Really glad the vid help bud!! So glad i done it to mine, admitably the whole doesn’t need to come out but I didnt need it in there so just my choice 👍🏻 Thanks for watching…and trusting me 🤣
Hi Mark. I have a single r which obviously shares the same engine, exhaust and all the euro 5 stuff. I hated the sound but really did not want to do the whole full exhaust system change. I tried this at the weekend and honestly I could not have been happier. The best £40 you can spend on one of these engines. I did not expect it to help with the feeling of juddering that you get at slow speeds with these, but it seems to have. I know in one of your other videos you mentioned it but I wasn’t convinced but fair play it has helped. Not fixed it completely, I think I might take it somewhere to have that sorted but it is definitely now at a point where I am happy to live with it and see how it goes. So, just wanted to say thanks.
Thanks for the feedback bud! Really glad your are pleased with the outcome aswell. Agree its doesn’t solve the juddering completely but has made a big difference. Who knew £40 would make such a difference hey! 👍🏻
I did the same for my 2022 S1000R for the same reasons and wow what a difference in the low rpm range, under 6K!!! Best option I agree. I don’t like touching the ECU with a race exhaust because I have a factory warranty. Even though supposedly they can remap to original factory setting, I’ve been told there is a code that will alert the dealer that the ECU was tampered with. Thanks for making this video. 😎👍
I congratulate you on your videos, however, I have a doubt that if you want to put it back, it is not a big problem to put the cables back in the exup?
I never had the original exhaust, mine came with the Akro but i have been told, like the Akro, it really livens up the sound even with the stock end can!
Great video mate👍🏻 can you tell me where can I get the servo from I’ve got the same problem with my 22 model XR even though with the Acro is still so boring. Are you happy with the outcome?
Thanks bud! Yea the Akro was really disappointing i felt. I ordered a healtec servo buddy from Ebay. The item number is 323310118831 from a company called vanguard motorsport ltd. I spent a full day out on the bike the other day and that confirmed to me it was the right thing to do!! Sounds SO much better! Down the box mainly in 2nd and 1st, the bike pops and grumbles nicely! But generally louder all round! Defiantly worth doing!! Wish id done it earlier!
Nice video there fella! That does look like a mod for me. I’ll be keeping the pro race on though, so I should wake the street not just the neighbors 🤣🤣🤣
Cheers bud! Hope it helps people as i couldnt find anything for the XR on how to do! I am very tempted to try it! But id defiantly put the Akro back on, spent the day riding and love the akro now lol
@@lifeonmarshmoto No problem man. When i watched your video i got excided to try out the healtech servobuddy with my orginal exhaust still on it. I just ordered the bm1. Thanks for the nice video's and keep on the good work! ;-)
@@a-r-o-n i honestly think it will make a difference! The servo just killed so much sound of my akro! Well happy with it now tho! Hopefully it works for yours! Thanks bud👍🏻
I’m trying to do exactly what you did. Being you removed the cable but left the valve in place, is the valve permanently on the off position? Or did you have to mess with the mechanics of the valve to force it open?
The valves natural state is in the open position until the bike warms up, then it closes and the bike quietens down hence the cold start function. It opens again when you get to about 5/6k revs. So if you remove the cables whilst the bikes engine is cold, the valve should be open, its on a spring type thing so without the cables attached theres nothing to close the valve again once the engine warms up. We did test this and it never closed so we left it.
@@lifeonmarshmoto That’s what I thought. I agree 100% that this is the best way to go cost and time wise. A lot of states are cracking down on race exhausts systems where the cats are removed. Additionally in most states it’s a felony to tamper with the cats. I don’t believe anyone has gone to jail over this, but with the mass hysteria they have the ability to set an example…..Thank you for replying back.😎👍
Just finish the job. Sound great but now I have explotuons at lower rpms... I dont like that, and I dont know if that could affect the bike in a long time
By any chance do you know if a 2015 BMW K1600GT has this same servo flap in the exhaust? I can't find any information online. I sure would like to bypass it if it does have it. Thanks

Hi , I have disconnected the servo on my gen 1 (not removed ) and connected the servo buddy , didn’t notice too much of a difference. Haven’t take her on the road yet , just wondering if I really need to disconnect the cables from the valve and remove the entire thing. Thanks
Im not a mechanic by any means lol but as I did remove the cables my bike couldnt open and close the slap in the exhaust because it wasnt connected. Also not sure if the Gen1 and 2 are set up the same as the Gen2 is euro 5 compliant hence the crap sound of it.
@@saigacias the best way to explain it is, when you start the bike from cold, its pretty loud, then the servo flap closes and quietens it down untill you go over 6000rpm then the flap opens again. With the servo removed, it just doesnt quite down from cold, a tiny bit maybe but but no where near as quite with the servo fitted. I think it makes the bike sound loads better 👍🏻

Absolutely no need to remove the servo valve. Just plug in the servo buddy, and its easy to go back to stock if you have a warranty claim.
So basically you disconnect the plug from servo motor and plug the buddy? What I need to remove for this? The end can or just the rear foot peg?
