Okay Michelle- 1. So so so excited you’re returning to the classroom but you can use that light behind your small group table, which is signal which group you’re meeting with depending on how you organize your small groups. For instance, you could have a red group and have the red light on and then your blue light could be on for your blue group. And then kids would know that when the lights on it’s kind of like a stop sign that you can’t disrupt the small group that’s currently being met with that, turns your splurge into a classroom necessity!
I'm so excited for you! As a retired public school teacher, now teaching at a homeschool co-op, I am enjoying following along on your journey. Thank you for sharing with us! Your classroom looks happy, warm and inviting. Your students are so blessed to have you as their teacher! Also, thanks for the reminder to help other teachers with their wish list. I plan to "adopt" a teacher this year.
Whenever you purchase something that will bring you peace and happiness in your classroom, it's a worthwhile purchase. That fact alone makes a seemingly "unnecessary" purchase into a must have purchase. Well done, you.
I love that you’re back to teaching. I started watching you in college and you were super inspirational. Going into my third year; my first two years were really hard. This series is giving me hope again. A little nervous and I don’t really have much money to get my classroom together, but there’s still so much left from the previous teacher, and I believe a little organization and declutter will do a world of wonders. Prayerfully this is a better year!
Most of the time I am a quiet viewer & follower of your channel & your (hands down) amazing content & uplifting personality but today I want to take the time to just say THANK YOU to you! I'm a teacher in training (for primary/elemetary school) in Germany & although we do a lot of things differently, also when it comes to setting up classrooms, I get so much inspiration & motivation from those videos, all of your videos. 🥹💙🙏 Keep going Michelle, you are helping me in so many ways! 🦋 Your joy is so contagious!
You can do it! I'm so glad people are still interested in this profession. Enjoy your last few years of uni! And welcome to the wild wonderful world of teaching.
Michelle, your classroom has come together wonderfully. You have worked hard to bring this journey to a full circle. I am so excited for the upcoming vlogs and seeing you shine as a teacher once again. I am so grateful to have teachers like you in the classroom. Way to go!!!❤
I love how quickly it all came together. A good quick show of how to do that and make sure you have what you need without spending a ton. Thanks Michelle! I'm looking forward to the tour. Hope the new desk helps!
Love that you are back in the classroom, have been watching you forever. You are so kind to give back to others. I started watching you when I lived in New England and you also lived on the East coast. Now we are both teaching in Texas!
Thank you for sharing your journey with us! and tips along the way. Hope you had a lovely first day meeting your new children n exploring the classroom once again!
Hack: If those trays start sliding around in the drawer and it drives you crazy, you can use a little poster putty under each corner to hold them in place. I find the blue putty can sometimes stain so I like to use the off-white instead
Like you, I'm heading into a new school and teaching 4th grade this year. For me, it's the first time teaching 4th! I enjoy your videos so much. I'm also hoping to implement Building Thinking Classrooms. The green book is on my wishlist! Good luck with your first days back with students! They will be blessed to have you for a teacher. Thanks for what you do!
Your classroom looks amazing! I also use black on my bulletin boards. Everything just pops! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I learn so much from you, so thank you! You will have an amazing year!!!
I gotta do some of those Goodwill runs; they sound great! PLUS, you and I have the same starting dates! You’ve been an integral part of the reason why I’m back in the classroom (year 15 for me)!
Michelle so excited about you going back to the classroom 🎉. I love watching your videos. I found you during covid and learned so much from you. Now I am teaching preschool and I will need your label expertise.
I love that you’re going back to teaching! I have been in an intervention position wishing to be back in a classroom and I feel like I got to live that vicariously through you!
Love all of these classroom setup videos! So helpful to "see" your thinking process! You have no idea how much you "give" to teachers by sharing yourself and your thinking and how you have simplified your teaching and set up for all of those new teachers! Your "giving back" may not be monetary, but your time and effort in creating your content is HUGE!! Wishing you the best year ever, Michelle!
Today is Monday the 5th and you are "back to school" I hope you have a blessed and wonderful year. My homeschool for my grandkids starts in a week. We are set up and ready to go.
Michelle! I'm going back into teaching as well this year. It's been 12 years. So I feel a little rusty. Watching your videos has helped me change my brain back into teacher mode! Thank you so much for posting all your helpful tips!
Hi Michelle! I have been a follower of yours since 2018 and have absolutely LOVED watching you fall in love with teaching again. I was a first year teacher this past year in special education but have always wanted my own gen ed classroom and I just got hired literally yesterday as a first grade teacher! I immediately bought your digital planner and rewatched your planner set up video. I can't wait to see what's in store for the both of us this year!
That new lamp is great. You could use colour codes for things small-group time. e.g green: children can come to you, yellow, only if... (set reasons) or red ( do not disturb/work independently/busy).
So glad you're back in the classroom. I'm a 6th grade ELA Sped Teacher. I'm teaching 2 co-teach ELA classes and 4 resource ELA. I'm going through the BeGlad training this month, so I'm redecorating my classroom to make room for our co-created work. I love watching setup videos and can't wait to see how you decorate.
Thank you for sharing your journey. I'm so glad others have been so generous with your classroom needs. You are blessed in so many ways and I can't wait to continue watching your adventures in returning to the classroom. Hugs and love from preschool in PA.
Wow, I haven't been in the classroom for almost 20 years and I am getting excited for you, Michelle. What a fun, nurturing, and innovative environment you are creating for your students! Tfs
Your classroom looks so wonderful! I can't wait for the finishing touches 😆 I'm planning on going into the classroom next year and have learned so much from you. Thank you for all you do and share, Michelle! Sending you so much love 🥰
Great video! You are putting together a fantastic learning environment for your students! Isn't it great to also establish a good environment for you?! Wow, first day back next week! Holy smokes! Thanks for sharing your world!🙂
You look so beautiful and natural in this video! You’re the GOAT, Michelle. I love how you’re finding more balance this time around too. Wisdom does come with age. First two weeks are the hardest, then you’ll catch your groove.
Hi! I am a teacher in Jamaica. I am just getting back in the class room myself - well, since January. We are on summer break here and usually go back in September. I love your channel so far! Keep up the good work and boy do I love your class setup! All the best for this new year - one day at a time!
Happy Monday, Michelle! Another great video...I loved the variety of items you shared. The lamp looks so cool and creates a fun ambience. I hope your first official day back for teacher workdays goes well today! Have an awesome day! 💜
So excited for you. I’ve been following you for years and you always inspire me to become an even more organised teacher. I’m also starting at a new school in September - can’t wait to follow your new chapter. 😃
So much inspiration! I love it! Those kids and that school are so lucky to have you! I can’t believe you have six whole days before kids! That’s crazy! We only get one! Hope you have a great week!
Your room is looking great! That lamp is call in my name …😁. I’m a 5th grade teacher in South Texas. We go back Aug. 12 and kids Aug. 19! I’m also setting up my classroom and watching your videos for any ideas. I realize today is your first day back .. have an amazing 2024-2025 Texas style school year!! Welcome to teaching in Texas!!😊
I gave up my teacher desk a while ago, it helped me to have a teacher toolbox that I made out of small sterilte drawers in some shelving behind my horseshoe/jelly bean table. It made me feel like I had a desk that was multipurpose and gave me so much more space. I could also put some drawers under the corner of the table which allowed me to keep differenciated work for students who needed advance work and students who needed approaching work. I love how it is coming together.
I am a recently retired 4th grade teacher. You are going to love 4th grade! This fall I will be teaching 6th grade math and science in a private school. I have been reading the Thinking Classroom book and can't wait to implement our problem of the day with the groups of three. I love watching your videos!
Looks great ! Love the details of drawer organizers and the fun lamp . Have a great start to the year . I have a wish list 🎉but I am shy about sharing to get help . I never did one before .
Michelle, I love your balance of black and white with all the bright and nice colors. #Perfection So happy and excited to see you finally return back to the classroom! I was wondering if you mentioned to your new district/campus about your vlogging success. If so, I'd like to personally thank Austin and your new campus for allowing you to bless us all with your great classroom/teaching vlogs! YAY!!! Lastly, keep an eye out for the 12 x 12 snap clear boxes from Costco. I've gotten some in the past, and I believe it was a pack of 5 boxes for less than $20. May your new school year go fabulous! #TexasTeachers
I read The Thinking Classrooms book two years ago after seeing Peter at a math conference. We have adopted vertical work spaces in my school and started to see more throughout my district. I am interested in the book you got. I'll add it to my wishlist.
Your classroom is lovely. I envy the rooms that are more modern. They're light and bright. My school is older. My classroom has a lot of wood accents. The fromt and side doors are wooden. The closets and windows are , too. My closets are literally 9-10 narrow boxes, like closets in a house would be. There is no structure inside to organize unless I buy 10 closet systems. The good thing is that they can be used to hang up small posters. Last year, I had my rules, my calendar, my schedule, the writing process poster, and lunch count on it. However, I will do my best to make it a happy home away from home for my students. Have a great school year! Welcome back.
Michelle, I have been with you your entire journey as a teacher. Your videos really inspire me to be a beter, more organized teacher. I loved seeing you fall back in love with teacher(for personal reasons I been struggling). My husband tragically and unexpectedly passed away and I lst the motivation but your videos and now the fetch app has helped me gain it back. Thank you> Also, could you link the Mathematics task book(want to cart to my cart). Work in a Catholic School so trying to buy all thse items to help me stay out. Thank yu for being an inspiration! Alicia from CT
Your room looks amazing- I’m a huge fan of you and your style of room set up for many years- would love to know what science STEM posters and materials did you get. I’m now a science teacher in my school and love having STEM materials for kids to use. I hope you have a fantastic year 😊 Have an amazing 1st day back to work.
We’ve added a lot of Peter’s practices in our district. Our students love it. After about a week of regular math, they often request it. I imagine those lights as a nonverbal cue to students about volume in the class - set to a color to indicate it should be silent, partner convos, group work, etc.
So happy with your new classroom! It has come together very nicely. I love that you also are fulfilling teacher wishlists as well. I have done a couple of those this year as well! It’s the little things right!!
Great suggestion!
I'm so excited for you! As a retired public school teacher, now teaching at a homeschool co-op, I am enjoying following along on your journey. Thank you for sharing with us! This is what I was thinking. I loved the lights and love magnets so just those small things made me happy.
Well unfortunately I’m not allowed to have a cross or Bible. 😂
I love that you’re back to teaching. I started watching you in college and you were super inspirational. Going into my third year; my first two years were really hard. This series is giving me hope again. Same! I'm starting year six! Wow. Time flies. Let's enjoy it!

Are you doing other classroom videos
You can do it! I'm so glad people are still interested in this profession. Enjoy your last few years of uni! And welcome to the wild wonderful world of teaching.
Love the lamp! It’s all coming together beautifully!

Today is Monday the 5th and you are "back to school" I hope you have a blessed and wonderful year. My homeschool for my grandkids starts in a week. We are set up and ready to go.
I love adding lamps to my classroom, too. They make the room cozy and add so much warmth. I hope you have a great day with your new school family.

I read the building thinking classrooms, it’s AMAZING! I feel like the strategies are so good, not just for math.
So excited for you and grateful to have an amazing teacher back to Teaching!!
You’re so lucky you have so many cabinets and drawers!! Your room looks great! I love the new cart, lamp and the rainbow corner!
Wow, I haven't been in the classroom for almost 20 years and I am getting excited for you, Michelle. What a fun, nurturing, and innovative environment you are creating for your students! Tfs
It's coming together so nicely!! It looks great!!
I don't think i've seen your videos in years but omg girl you look so good!!!

Your classroom looks awesome Michelle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like the lamp. This is year 31 for me and I still enjoy adding homey touches to my room. Yours is looking great!!
I'd love to see a video on your first week of school lesson plans!
You are one of my favorite educators to follow. I am so excited that you are teaching the same grade and subject areas!
I’m glad you’re so happy! I’m a retired teacher- almost 11years retired. I love to watch your videos. Looking forward to more. Blessings.😊
Hope you're having a great first day. Ours was cxld here in central FL. Thanks Debby! Excited to see your new desk. It looks good, Michelle.
Loving this back to school videos. They are definitely helping me get ideas for my classroom.

I am soooo happy to see you happy❤❤❤
Have a great day today! ❤️❤️
I read The Thinking Classrooms book two years ago after seeing Peter at a math conference. We have adopted vertical work spaces in my school and started to see more throughout my district. I am interested in the book you got. I'll add it to my wishlist.
Do I teach elementary school? No, I teach high school! Do I always watch your classroom set up videos? Yes, yes I do!!

Happy first day of school today!!! 🎉🎉
Today is August 5th! Hoping you have a great first day at work!
The math tasks book are amazing!!! I read it for a college course and is one of the few I plan on actually using.
Michelle,
I have been with you your entire journey as a teacher. Your videos really inspire me to be a beter, more organized teacher. I loved seeing you fall back in love with teacher(for personal reasons I been struggling). My husband tragically and unexpectedly passed away and I lst the motivation but your videos and now the fetch app has helped me gain it back. If you get some Museum Gel then you can use little dabs of it to help keep your drawer organizers from sliding
I added this comment to your other video - but I am so jealous of your in classroom storage!!! You have a lovely, modern room!!! Good luck this year!
Peter was my math for teachers professor! He's as awesome as his approach!!!
Looks fabulous 🤩
I'm so excited for you!
Since you board is covered in felt you can hang things with the hook (ruff) side of Velcro
no way!!! I forgot about your channel nice to see your back into teaching though!
Love the videos and the classroom
You’re awesome! Thank you for sharing
You could use the light for your traffic light system
Your room looks amazing- I’m a huge fan of you and your style of room set up for many years- would love to know what science STEM posters and materials did you get. I’m now a science teacher in my school and love having STEM materials for kids to use. I hope you have a fantastic year 😊 Have an amazing 1st day back to work.
With push pins I would recommend using sewing pins rather than thumb tacks because they reck your fingers when removing them
We’ve added a lot of Peter’s practices in our district. Our students love it. After about a week of regular math, they often request it.
I imagine those lights as a nonverbal cue to students about volume in the class - set to a color to indicate it should be silent, partner convos, group work, etc.
If you do not have a copy, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a wonderful book to have in your classroom. Best of luck to you. Take care.
The lamp could be level of noise with color or brightness.
Good luck on going back to teaching
I met Peter at CAMT! He is amazing! ❤
Everything is great! 👍👏⭐️❤️
So happy with your new classroom! It has come together very nicely. I love that you also are fulfilling teacher wishlists as well. I have done a couple of those this year as well! It’s the little things right!!
So much storage! I am so jealous!
Yay I'm first! Hope you have a great school year!
I start my 8th grade school year on august 13th as well as your students
