    Thank you so much for going slow through the greetings. It was wonderful to here how and under what circumstance each greeting should be used. Yes, your bonus tip is spot on. We have family in Italy and that is a standard greeting both hello and good-bye.

    ci vediamo a presto. so i would say buon giornata to say have a nice day meaning have a nice day i wish you have a nice day with the rest of your nonsleeping activities, like school, work, hanging out with buddies, drinking a beer, etc.

    That was an excellent explanation of giorno vs giornata. It's the same in French with jour and journée and while I got it intuitively, I wasn't sure how to explain it. Spanish even has día and jornada, though not used quite the same way!

    cool. giorno is for the whole day. giornata is for the time period when activities take place. thats a great explanation. in the past i thought these words were the same. ciao il mio professore!

      sono americano. la mia lingua favorita e' italiano e sara sempre essere questa lingua benche non ho sanguine/etnicita italiano. sono americano. i miei parenti sono cinese. ho nacito in new york. so che il mio italiano no c'e perfetto. ho stato studiato a mi stesso (myself) ogni volta che penso di imparare otri lingue, cinese, spagnolo, francese, tedesco, latino, etc., io sempre ricordo che italiano e l'ottimo come bellissima. mi dispiace/perdone che il mio italiano e imperfetto. sono americano, ho studiato latino (latin) nella mia scuola in New York. studio italiano per molti anni da cinque anni. la lingua e tanto magicale e mellifluosa.. le spiaggie e cultura e technoliga e siento vibe in italia e eccepzionale. forza d'italia. il mio passione per italiano e' mas che per qualquier otri lingue.

    You are a really good teacher. I appreciate your classes. I know Spanish well, but to me. I find Italian a bit more difficult...at least for now. i know it's not difficult for you, lol. For example, I forgot that sir is signore and not signor....I kind of mixed Spanish with Italian because sir in Spanish is senor. Actually, the Spanish n looks like this ñ. I am a little shy in speaking Italian. Hopefully, by next month, I will be less shy. Suki

    Wow, I am learning Italian and I was taught tha ArrivederCi is informal with your friends, family and ArrivederLa is the formal version…it is always useful to listen to a native speaker!

      Absolutely not! Who taught you that? 😂 I would say “arrivederci” is formal and “arrivederla” is extra formal. We would never use “arrivederci” with friends or family. I would use it for example when exiting a shop or hanging up a call with somebody I don’t know. It’s good you stumbled on my video :)

      "lieto di vederla" is formal for "happy to see you", "piacere di conoscerti" is "nice to meet you"
