i am all over the place in this video BUT I HOPE U GUYS LIKE IT!!
I like 👍
I sure do like it. :)
i did 😌
Me like amsomemay
You kind of scared the living daylights out of me when speaking so loud in certain places I ended up turning it down too low and then I couldn't hear everything else you were saying. If that's your schtick then it doesn't work well for you
Everyone's review of this film including yours does a better job at advertising this movie than Disney ever would.
I see you in every comment section and im scared-
Not could. WOULD
Not really. I got loads of Strange World ads
disney needs to pay us!!
That’s literally their strategy
I like that the red creatures symbolize blood cells, that every creature has A design that hints at them being cells, bacteria etc etc. I think that IS really creative. Even the background does that.
Same!
I literally just kept calling the reapers, (I think that’s what their called) Monocytes lol
Yes
I saw the first place and thought: that really looks like a lung
So it was bad design, it was really good
I hate living in an age where there’s a million 3D movies every second. I miss when there was like one a year and it was THE movie to see.
Do you mean like 1 3D Disney movie per year? 1 3D movie per year would be hard because there is so many movie companies.
@@Cosmic_Lemon Obviously I exaggerate, but like, they’re not special anymore. I miss when they were a new thing, y’know?
@@mechanwhal6590
Yeah I understand
exactly!!
Well, that's the animation industry for you. You may not like it, but it ain't really going to stop.
If i had a nickel for every time disney sabotaged a project with a openly queer main character, id have two nickels. Which isnt a lot but its worrying it happened twice
What was the other one?
@@gasterthemaster6490 i think the owl house?
@@shashdragon probably
@@shashdragon pretty sure that Disney wasn’t pushing for that
If the character being queer is the only relevant point they push, its gonna flop. Noone watches a movie just for that
We can't afford 2d animation, but we can afford to sabatouge and neglect the marketing for expensive films. We claim original material is a less safe idea for films than ancient IPs we control, and then deliberately make sure any original idea we have fails.
Disney logic.
Tbf this movie is bad. Doesn't even feel like disney animated movie.
2D animation takes longer to make, which is why 2D animated movies are no longer a thing.
@@muddashucka9743 you can put 2d into a computer aned build the entire movie. It shouldn't be harder. I can make easy 2d in macromedia.
they literally spend around 100 milion usd for the marketing
Let me explain what happened, a filmmaker of the film stated on Twitter the reason this film didn't got a lot of marketing was because Disney's corporate team wanted to focus more on the big stuff this year like Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water and because of that they got not enough budget to market the film even for toys (they were some released but that was like just three toys)
They should’ve released it later on, it really did just get overshadowed by bigger movies
@@professorp1 I think it's fine. Not sure what to advertise, but honestly I'm not disney.
disney made the right decision in that.
I enjoyed the movie, I felt like they did a good job at character building and introducing little things that get brought back up later in the movie. Also, Searcher’s family is really sweet. And I thought the overall message of how the Earth is a living thing and we have to protect it even if it means giving up our technology was a good message. I thought maybe Disney didn’t market this movie as much because it has an openly gay character. I don’t know, maybe that’s a factor, I have no evidence for that though. It was pretty creative though, I guess it could’ve been more dramatic, but it was a nice family movie. 👍
what did you watch it on?
@@gabbydube5757
The movie theater screen
I watched it on CAM
Oh they definitely didn’t promote it for the gay character, it shouldn’t be too big of a surprise. They’re probably going to blame the lack of success on the fact that there’s a gay character instead of addressing the lack of promotion instead.
It pushed to many agendas
I just feel as if Illumination is getting better for this reason. With the hype of the Super Mario Bros Movie of all the leaks and promos. I think Illumination is making it easy to leak so people get more and more hyped. Sorta like the Minions: Rise of Gru and the whole gentle minions trend while there wasn’t as good of a promo for Lightyear.
Illumination was always good at marketing crowd-pleasing movies. That's how they are able to get movies that are otherwise easily forgotten to make the ridiculous amount of money that they also do.
Illumination good as advertising and marketing, but they still haven’t made a decent movie since Despicable Me 1.
@@finalmountain Yep. But at least Mario looks good. I can't believe _Illumination_ is waiting for us with an enjoyable movie while Diskey doesn't care anymore.
1:56 That’s not an undistinguishable character that’s Covid 19
💀
@@amadnakateh that’s me after covid
hey bro
I was going to see strange world, but even my disney-obsessed family didn’t know of it. I ended up watching Black Panther Wakanda Forever, although encanto did good once it hit disney plus, maybe the same will happen here?
Thing is though is that Encanto was insanely well received and has fantastic earworm song potential. People who did watch this don't seem to care for it all too much, and it looks like it'll be more likely to fall through the cracks and be quickly forgotten like Raya And The Last Dragon was.
@@jadenmamangon9016 true
if only strange world had a catchy song
@@jadenmamangon9016
It’ll probably be even more forgotten than Raya. It might end up like the stuff between Treasure Planet and the Revival at best and the package features at worst.
@@Awesomemay what do mean, they have the song Lone Digger from Caravan Palace in it.
Yeah you know the one with the animals.
i really hope disney animation is treated better coming forward from this
I love when the gang said “Its stranging time” and then stranged all over the monsters
It's the next "No one:" meme now. Just let it finally rest. It's not funny.
Bro really said its "resting time" 💀
@@morrisonyeukwu8926 I say it's stopping time.
@@redpanda6497 it’s 💀ing time
I love when Elsuper said “it’s unfunny joking time” and made an unfunny joke and overused joke all over the comment page!
The world looks like that cause it’s probably based on molecular biology or something. They ran on the red pillow things then jumped to the purple pillow path and I was like “those are blood cells” the trees with circles for leaves are probably like platelets or something.
Why does it feel like in every Disney movie the main character’s mother or father has died or been lost. Is anyone with me?
You aren't wrong. Except for maybe Tangled. Turning red, and a few others thats applied to most movies so far
@@mattheww1072 yeah but in tangled Rapunzel doesn’t see her parents in years
@@ilovetoedit_yt_ Yeah but they weren't lost.
@@Saltedroastedcaramel yeah but still she’s been separated with them for years
@@ilovetoedit_yt_ But they weren't dead or been lost like you said. That's more on Rapunzel's side than her parents.
Its funny when I went to the theaters and find out nobody is there. Its weird watching the movie alone
I went to my theater with it and Black Panther 2 on (Small town, only 2 screens) me, my parents, and some other family were the only ones in the Strange World showing while BP 2 was packed haha. And both my dad and the other family's dad cringed at the gay scenes lol. (I did too, felt too artificial and slapped on compared to lumity or the cops from Gravity Falls imo)
@@Flameonoodle why cringe on the hay scene
@@RoseQuartz692 Personally I have had pretty bad childhood experiences with hay, I grew up on a farm like Searcher's son, and whenever I had to scoop cow poop I would always pickup the hay as well, which wouldn't be so bad, but my family was poor and we could barely afford hay, so a single mess up could mean expensive consequenses. I live in the city now and I thank god everyday I don't have to deal with hay anymore.
@@Flameonoodle bro 💀 he meant gay fuckin goofy ahhg
The only other people that were at my viewing were a little girl and her Dad 💀
I hope that Disney makes original movies/shows that dont go straight to disney+.
I actually enjoyed Strange World. It’s not amazing, but it’s definitely not terrible. For me (Visually speaking) is the most gorgeous Disney animated movie of the new ones. The story had very interesting ideas, but i think it should’ve been longer to flesh out more the characters. Again, that’s just my opinion 🤷♂️
I liked Encantos animation more but yeah, Strange Worlds animation is definitely pretty good
@@realglutenfree especially the opening sequence
It’s very pretty and the animation is amazing, but I’m not sure if it makes up for the story, I just felt bored watching it and I only watched it halfway before abandoning it
I'm just waiting on disney to make something like stranger world but without a story line, or at least one built into the environment. Like someone just interacting with the environment and then those they meet - seeing it from their side! The story line always seem like they take away from the setting. Like there's storytelling movies - like marvel, but then there's environmental movies like the lorax. I thought the lorax was one of the best movies - ngl those movies where you have a nice environment and then a character comes in and either tells you of better or destroys it and then the character goes to find out is where it's at! WHile it's hard to judge a movie from a youtube video, I didn't quite see it here?
Yeah I kind of agree with that.
I’m one of the few people who were able to discover this movie months before it came out. I don’t plan on watching it in theaters but instead just wait for it to come to digital.
I hope it’s somewhat watchable because if you dig past all the controversies, it looks like an interesting movie.
Edit: I just watched it last night, and all of you will disagree when I say this but:
I thought it was good 👍
Just saw it last night, 100% it’s very good you’ll love it!
Watched it some days ago and thought it was actually a good movie lmao i found it entertaining
I watched it in cinema, even in 3D, lol. It was pretty nice. I enjoyed it. Definitely not peak Disney, but watchable
I also knew about this movie months before it came out. I saw the poster and the trailer.
i saw it a month ago, honestly it’s pretty good i don’t know why people are calling it bad
The opening where they showed that comic book animation was my favorite part of the whole movie.
Great review.
One amazing scene was when the main character (damn, I forgot his name already) tells his Grandfather Jaeger there's a boy he likes and Jaeger accepts it immediately and gives him advice. What a brilliant Grandfather.
Ethan! (I remember it because Korone said it.)
I rlly liked this movie and I understand it's probably not for everyone but it was kinda sad how disney didn't even give it a chance. When I went to see it I was the only one in the entire cinema, and one of the cinema workers told me that out of the 6 times they are showing it today I was the only one who bought a ticket, and I feel that even a little push of advertising would of really helped this movie thrive.
I loved it now I shipped Ethan and dizo I went to bisexual screaming happiness
It’s still unbelievable that my fanart made it into a video! Great job on this review man!
I always got confused when I saw people saying they thought the advertising for this was basically non-existent because I saw so many ads for it that it was annoying, idk if marketing targeted Australia for some reason or if I somehow had the perfect ad history for algorithms to think it's something I'd enjoy and interact with
This guy’s got a point. We all do have a love/hate relationship with Disney, including me. And I like pretty much a lot of movies, not just from Disney but in general.
I'm amazed that no one knew about this. I ONLY got ads for this movie over and over and over for about a month
I really liked this movie! The characters and the sceneries are great. Sad to hear that Disney abandoned it.
This movie is a treat to my eyes honestly. Didn't like it but the visuals were awesome :]
In my opinion I didn’t think it was too bad, definitely not one of Disney’s strongest, but it wasn’t TERRIBLE. Honestly, I think that this movie has the most accurately depicted tween/teen since I too can relate with some of his problems (like externally and internally panicking when near my crush)
I thought the movie was solid. The animation style is generic Disney cartoon animations, but it is what it is. The world they crafted is gorgeous and creative. I enjoy the characters and love the messaging about father-son relationships. And I find its representation of LGBT people incredibly refreshing. The fact Ethan is gay is insignificant. We see his boyfriend for a few seconds and that's it. No one cares about it as anything other than a relationship.
My take on why the designs look the way they do...like, why there are no Godzillas or King Kongs and stuff (SPOILERS)
There's not much sharp stuff inside the bodies of living things, really ☠️ like what do you expect from blood cells and sh¡t 😭 i really don't think being super threatening would be a good point. Ultimately they aren't "bad guys" or "monsters", they're biological thingies of a huge turtle's insides 🤠 imo they don't need to be threatening. I get how it's less exciting from a moviegoer's POV, but it fits the overall message
I think the same as you, the only sharp things are external objects; like the ship. Everything being loquidy, flowy and bouncy makes sense, it's an actual vein trail, lungs, etc. I like how they depicted white blood cells and tge inmune system too. A godzilla type monster there would only fit as another k8nd of parasite or illness
Anything original: *exists*
Disney: Yeah, ima just pretend I didn’t see that. (Proceeds to make a crappy live action remake they expect people to see in theaters)
at the end of the movie they all just say “wow, that really was a strange world” *credits roll*
I never saw strange world and it looks so good❤ like I’m really upset I got really upset when they lost $100 at the box office
100 million *
I’m thinking that some movies like strange world were purposefully flopped
They should've based creatures from the croods movies. Those animals looked awesome
The reason that the monsters are jelly like it's because it's all taking place inside a living organism and the monsters are actually cells
After everything you told us about Strange New Worlds upon watching it yourself...I can totally see why The Walt Disney Company would just forget to market this movie at all, when there was nothing special about it *to* market apart from its impressive visual style and the title. Your title of this video lived up to its name more than I expected to because of this.
Disney are damn cowards when it came to making this movie then screwing it over
Disney really is on a kick with generational trauma. Some of those scenes felt like déjà vu from Encanto or Turning Red... Especially the unrealistic self-awareness of the grandfather on some scenes, which just reminded me of how everyone said the most unrealistic part of Encanto was the grandmother actually admitting she was wrong. On the other hand, it was pretty realistic with how Searcher did the same thing to Ethan that Jaeger had done to him. It was ok.
Also I wish I was less genre-savvy because I could barely enjoy the journey through the "strange world" because I knew the entire plot from the second they made it down there. It all looked _way_ too obviously like actual cells and organs, and the green pando looked way too obviously evil when it was contrasted against the pale pinks of the innards. I get that they have to make the twist accessible to kids, but still. I miss being able to be surprised by twists like that.
✌️😎✌️I felt like this movie should of bin more successful, but Disney had ruined that chance for the Strange World. Animation studios need to treat their franchises with respect.
As it should 👍 I liked that movie
Loved your take on this, hearing your thoughts was great. I'll be here for the next one
Dang the video finally came out!! I’m glad you pulled through 👍
Great review as usual
Take it easy
strange world is a movie to see once just to see what’s going on, then never again
They literally made Covid 19 a marketable character
The pandemic effected how movies were made a released during the past 2 years, let's not blame disney for releasing luca and turning red on disney plus , cause helping curb people from going to the movie theaters was so much more important, and still is
Strange worlds is strange it’s strange because Disney doesn’t care about it
I was planning to see strange world on october, but then i realized i forgot to see it
talk about bad advertising-
I saw this video in my timeline and decided to check it out. I love your work, and you have a new subscriber. Loving your work isn't sappy at all. I genuinely believe if Disney moved this film to August or September, it would've done better with less competition. Who thought this film could stand up to BP2? Like seriously, the little promo that even aired made the poor movie look bland.
i agree 100 % with you! with all these new hyped movies coming out, strange world does not stand a chance sadly :( and thanks for subscribing !!
Also, the movie came out between Black Panther and Avetar, two of the biggest movies of the year, so that’s another reason it failed
I Noticed Spelling Mistake U Mean Avatar Right?
I saw this on the disney+ menu yesterday and was like “wait. Since when has this existed?” They literally didnt advertise this movie’s existence at all.
there was barely any advertising of this movie but I saw an ad for this movie on a random bus
Oh I just loved the movie! It was so fun to watch. I enjoyed every second.
I wish the marketing was better because I had no idea what's the movie was going to be about until I started watching it xD, but I was positively surprised.
And yeah, Great review! I agree with most of your points. It was cool to hear your opinion.
Sorry to hear about cinema problems while watching, but congrats on free tickets.
You know I think it says something Universal Orlando is catching up to Disneyworld in terms of attendance.
If you think the only bad thing about the Lego movie is a lack of benny then you clearly have your priorities straight.
it was literally entirely based off of a toy brand and yet it doesn't feel like it was made just to sell toys
here in costa rica theyre selling it like crazy, ive been getting ads a lot lately about it and i have only just realized that this is what u were talking about lol
honestly i rlly rlly enjoyed this movie. i didnt see it coming at all that the whole world would be a huge turtle
there were a few parts that were mid but still
I actually saw a strange world ad on a billboard and when i did i screamed
i saw this movie in theatres with my family, and i thought it was good. not amazing, but more like.. a cozy movie you can sit down and relax with.
the environments are gorgeous, and it's a great representation of what animation can do. the plot is simple, which isn't a detriment at all. the "old sci-fi movie" aesthetic is great. but the writing could be better and the movie suffered from lack of marketing.
Hey AWESOMEMAY, I saw you at Jaiden Animations stream and I LOVE your content!
My dad and I decided to watch it recently since we never watched it in the theaters. So when it came to Disney+, we did watch it. But in the first 15 minutes, we instantly fell asleep. So we turned it off and watched Waterboy lol
Awesome may always brings a smile to my face
i saw an ad for this movie once when i was in a theater so i thought it was like coming out in like a while, like i was shocked when you said it already came out??
I honestly really like this movie, although i dislike some scenes, overall solid movie.
Idk about you guys but I actually saw and am still seeing a lot of promo for this movie, ever since around Thanksgiving
Great vid man keep it up love your videos
thank you!!
I'm a huge nerd and big fan of speculative biology and stuff
(Even though it turned out not to have any speculative biology in it at all as the plot twist revealed)
so I was HYPED to see this movie...
I was pretty disappointed...
it wasn't bad but it really wasn't good either...
the reveal was cool imo, and I loved the representation shown...
but despite traveling everywhere in the movie it honestly felt like nothing happened lol
This video is great keep up the good work 👍😎
Going off of the video title, idk about that one, I saw plenty of promotions all over the city, it was on video billboards, sides of buses, UA-cam banner ads and website ads, it was promoted for sure. I see a lot of people saying they didn’t advertise it but they did
POV: your watching this while at Disney World
“It’s been a really rough November” I wonder why 😣
Yay awesomemay your back I missed you
I did in fact get advertisements for this movie. Yt ads blasted those at me and I even recall seeing a tv commercial. But I live in the Netherlands.
I remember watching the new Jurassic World in a theater, but it was so broken. First the screen was an error sign, then the screen was black with sound, and finally the screen was on but muted. So they just refunded us.

I can describe this movie in 10 words:
“Journey To The Center Of The Earth” meets “Fantastic Voyage.”
I really like that strange world is very creative and it's very colorful and the whole underworld is like, a whole body
Finally a new video
Am I the only person who thinks that in the next 10 years people will call this movie underrated
My future children will say that XD
They already do for worse Disney movies and even terrible ones like Chicken Little.
I loved how the movie and characters look, and the world building was great. It’s just the writing and story was only okay.
I got an ad for it when I was playing My Singing Monsters
My two favorite things are literally animation channels and movie reviews
4:35 Dang. I felt Jake's pain
I heard about this movie, and then a week later I learned it didn’t do well opening week/day/whatever. I was genuinely shocked it released so soon, because normally I hear about new Disney and Pixar movies months before they actually come out despite the fact that I don’t necessarily have any interest in them or look out for new movies.
They spammed the ads of this movie in instagram , everytime i open the app i that ads afew time at least. Until i still see one or 2
In my country, this movie got promoted, but a few months ago and not for long. I'm not surprised about the lack of audience
5:30 the blob is actually dangerous, its job was to lead you to your death and since Ethan was nice to him, the blob regret doing it and tries to save him from those tentacle thingy monsters

Fun fact: I watched this movie in the cinema yesterday and when I got home every advert I got was strange world and now I've got this :D
The amount of promo they gave for this movie is less then the amount of times I sneeze in a week
Everyone ive seen online has said they haven’t seen any ads for it, and while i do think it has has less than most, i gotta say, i saw this TONS, but I think that’s just cause I follow Disney animations and Disney on instagram lol
I saw promo for this movie before UA-cam videos and it did well on Disney plus
the only ads i’ve seen for this were on instagram but its not enough 😢
No because why is this movie so underrated like it is honestly a master peice
