smaller alphabets shd be given more priority because they will give you your lexographically minimum string. the reason i was explanation about higher alphabets is to explain why duplicates dont matter so if u ignore all duplicates in array, sort by smallest and update the smallest index with smallest character, you are guaranteed to get a perfect answer
