Oh my gosh. I am so sorry to hear that. And believe me, there is nothing ridiculous in mourning a beloved family member. And pets are just that. They are family. They just express their love and their gratitude for being loved in another way like we humans do. I am glad that you are not alone in this moment. And I am a hundred percent sure that soon the grief will be replaced with gratitude for the two incredible years that you had with Muriel and all the joyful memories will cover the sadness...

Don't beat yourself up for feeling sad about his passing. Remember for all intents and purposes a pet is very very much a family member so it absolutely makes sense you feel the way you do. I'm so sorry to hear, take all the time you need and keep your head up. You know thats what he would want for you guys😊
We lost our dog when i was 18. I'm 32 now and i still cry when i think about him. There's things you just can't get over and you're not supposed to, all you can do is try to live with it. I wish you all the strength for this

It’s always the hardest to lose a pet, they are family and they are always there for you with pure love and joy it’s the hardest, hopefully the happy memories live on and you can remember how amazing he was ❤
Often people don't understand the love people have for their furry and feathered family members but it can definitely hurt just as much when we lose them. I think it's because they love us unconditionally so we return that affection. You have to take solace in the fact that you gave them the best life you could for their short stay here.
Sorry for your loss just know that you are loved and we miss you. Your feelings are valid don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. A pet is like family. You have my support and take all the time you need to grieve. Be safe and healthy and can’t wait to see you back
Birds are such amazing animals. You had sucha sweet bond with him. When a bird is there for you to keep you happy and loved its hard to lose. Rest in peace Muriel
Pets become part of the family. I have lost many cats. One in particular we found dead in a corner we don't know why. Listening to your comment brought up a Nightwish song "Kiss while your lips are still red". I have lost a brother 12 years younger than myself and am a widower twice. I am here if you need to talk. Only had two family pets and that was a long time ago. The dog was a beautiful soul and the cat was more of a loner until his later years. Loved them both but now around 35 years later I still think of that cat often as well as the dog from time to time. I am so glad I had them in my life. Pets are with you so much and certainly can come to mean so much to you and definitely leave a void once they are gone. Glad you have so many nice memories of your bird to last your lifetime.
Damn im sorry i was just asking about the bird on another video. I had to watch my cat die i had forever the same day my slumlord said i had to move so he could sell the place. Life sucks and hope you're doing better God knows im trying. God Bless.

I lost my doggo 5years ago. I don't spontaneously cry anymore but if my thoughts wander I can shed tears for the time we had together.

@jaminunes: First, sorry to hear about your bird. It is never is easy losing a pet, especially one you've had for some time.
Thing is, even if you don't make a reaction, I recommend checking out "Yaad" by Indian folk metal band Bloodywood. "Yaad," Hindi for "Remember" or "in memory," is about the loss of a loved one, whether human, furry, or in your case, feathered. To put it mildly, Yaad has helped me cathartically let go of the pain, sadness, grief, and even in some cases, guilt.
If I didn't think Yaad couldn't help you, I wouldn't recommend it as a song to listen to.
Be well, Jami. It may be hard, but things will get better. And perhaps the best thing to do, is to get another bird or another pet of some kind.
When my grey parrot died aged 23, i was totally destroyed after that. The sitting tree, i had build for her is still sitting in my basement and although it's been 12 years ago i can't bring myself to sell it or give it away. In her case it was the liver failing, btw.
Sorry for you, and a pet is a member of the family. I know, I have been there. Losing someone is always hard, also a pet. Because they are always with you. But it wil get easier, and it wil take some time. And no one can know everything upfront.
Ahhhh, so sorry Jami. Are you thinking of another one? Are you and your husband staying with family? Support is helpful.
We're considering maybe in the future, but for now we just want things to settle down a bit. We are with family, my sister and my mom and my sister's cats - they have been a blessing, every time we were crying they would just come to us and purr 🥲 thank you for the concern 💕

Losing a pet is the same if not worse than losing a family member. Pets dont stab you in the back. Anyone who says its just a pet are morons.
Dont be sad the time with him is over be happy for the time you had with him. Also birds are really good at hiding their illness.
