    Hi everybody, so I noticed this has not been uploaded and subtitled on UA-cam so I decided to do it today.
    I don't think there are any interviews rom Hatari left to translate but I might upload in near future the Icelandic news segments from last Sunday about the Eurovision finals and our impending ban in Eurovision 2020 (will be decided next week)
    It was bit difficult to translate this, especially Klemens part but I hope you can all understand what they are saying :)

      @@ozgul906 Yeah it actually very strange to not see them not in characters, but I have a feeling since Klemens spoke so slowwwly in this interview that he was completely hung over or had bad jet lag.

      Klemens seemed like he is still in character. Maybe in a way it’s his natural character actually. And it just fits his public character as well. Obviously tho he’d be different with people close to him and when there aren’t cameras around him.

    What Matthías says in the last minute or so is so important. They are aware of their priviledge and they try to use it to point out the injustice. I am just so touched. It's rare for artists to stand by a principle on an issue as sensitive as this. Mad respect for Hatari!!

      Naj Renchelf all the artists got a full screen when they got their televote points. I guess whoever was running that didn’t get any orders to cut away from Hatari so they just went on like normal

      Not shown: Spain, Israel, United Kingdom, Belarus, Germany, Estonia, Serbia, Albania, Slovenia, Greece, France, Cyprus, Denmark
      But of course the camera guy had to know what is going to happen, Einar was already holding one flag and Andrean also had his own prepared to rise up while Matthías was taking flag out of his shoe.

      MelomankaPL yeah, I meant to say all artists who were top 10 in the televote. And since the camera guy probably didn’t get any orders not to show them, he just carried on like normal. The fact that they show initiative and get involved in political and social issues deserves so much respect, especially nowadays, when it's so easy to ignore problems like these if they don't affect you. Standing up for human rights takes courage and it's a shame that society has created a toxic environment for speaking out about global issues.

They have proved you can be extremely smart, incredibly creative, fantastic musicians & performers while being also super young, committed, involved in the world politics situation, fair, well educated and informed and so much more. The whole of Europe should look up to you. Man, how much I envy the nation of Iceland and its people. From their feminism lead to how they manage economical crisis, we should all learn from them a lot 💕 if they get banned for next year it will suck but they should be proud to get banned for the very right reasons and having such an extraordinary representation as these guys are of what Iceland is, means and stands for. Sadly, as much as I approve the "free palestine"-banner controversy they killed all the momentum they had by siding with BDS I'm afraid. There are tons of reasons to have issues with Israel as a nation and political system. Going with a community that openly propagates racism, hatred and partially antisemitism is not acceptable even when fighting for a common point. It's like saying kindergarteners should approve of pedophiles, because you know, both like kids.

  • @angelaburrow8114

    I was cheering Hatari all the way for the stand they were taking. I am not anti-Semitic, I have absolutely no problem with Jewish people, either as a race or a religion. I fully support their need for having a homeland. The world owes them that after leaving them to their fate for so long during WWII. However they cannot do this to the Palestinians. When the more dominant race treats the less powerful one as an 'under race', this leads to apartheid. It was seen in Hitler's Germany, in South Africa from1948 to the early 1990s, in the USA until 1968, amongst many other places. This is so wrong. No human being is less than another, simply because of race, colour, religion, nationality, sexuality, gender. We are all humans & deserve to be treated the same, with dignity & understanding. The Israeli-Palestinian situation needs to change. Kudos to Hatari for highlighting this.

    When I first heard the Hatari’s song on Eurovision I liked it as a piece of art, as a performance with a meaning. After that I started getting more into their views, the concept of the band and what is behind the image we see on the screens. And I see them as highly intelligent people who want to show the world its problems, who want to support people who need that support. I’m incredibly inspired by them and wish them all the best in their musical and social career! I respect and like you guys a lot! From 🇺🇦 with ❤️

      How on earth was this at the expense of their safety? They got a slap on the wrist and banned from Eurovision. You're acting like they were targeted men.

      I saw it, and still feel like they completely miss the point of leaving politics out of events like these. Especially after clearly being told it wasn't allowed.
      Love their music, but politically speaking I think they made a trollish act that is sad to see condoned so publicly.

      @@Israelpwn If a simple display of a flag is politics then ESC venue is the most political event ever. Look at fans holding handfuls of flags. It's part of the party. Name me one reason why Palestine people should be denied of this.

    • @Israelpwn
      @Israelpwn 5 років тому +2

      @@nonsysthematic9064 Because the flags being paraded are related to the contest. Palestine aren't participating and the context clearly shows a bias - there is no reason to wave the Palestinian flag during that moment other than to provoke a reaction.
      Honestly, this is not rocket science. For comparison: Madonna had a Palestinian flag in her performance as well, but only a dunce could assume there was a political bias in her act (look at it if you haven't seen her act, and compare it to this display).
      This act is inappropriate in the same way that donning a Kurdistan flag in Turkey would be considered inappropriate. This coming from someone who hopes to see a Kurdistan one day.
      I honestly don't understand how this is not abundantly clear.

    • @nonsysthematic9064

      @@Israelpwn Only flags related to the contest allowed at Eurovision?! You know nothing about ESC and its fan culture then. It's meant to bring nations together to enjoy music. Australians used to come there with their flags long before they participated and also fans from other non-participating countries keep coming with their flags and flags of their friends and are welcome.
      And yes, this is no rocket science indeed. You don't want Palestinian flag in Israel because Israeli (not all of them, but quite a lot of them) have POLITICAL BIAS against Palestinians (right, exactly like Turks and Kurds) and are in no way putting this aside because of a song contest. The cause of their reaction towards the flag was created by pure POLITICAL BIAS and nothing else. If you believe that political biases should be always put first and respected in Eurovision, well, you have a right to have your opinion. I on my part feel much better knowing that at least one participant has shown that being in ESC in Israel doesn't mean sharing political biases of Israeli or putting these biases first - and that participants can also meet Palestinian people and pay a tribute to them and make music with them. If this is not ESC spirit then what is?

    • @Israelpwn
      @Israelpwn 5 років тому +2

      @@nonsysthematic9064 I will admit that I don't care much for Eurovision, that is true.
      I never said that they shouldn't collaborate with Palestinian artists. In fact, I very much enjoyed their video/song with a local artist.
      However, the way they put up that banner was not an innocent waving of a flag just because, as you seem to believe. You think Hatari weren't aware of the political tension that would cause?
      Again, Madonna's performance had a Palestinian flag and was (imo) not controversial at all. Context matters, and your arrogant assumption that Israelis should just suck up this humiliation (it's bad enough you can rarely mention the word Israel without being catapulted into an argument about Palestine) shows how detached you are from the political climate.

    IMHO Hatari do not need to worry about the Eurovision stigma, they have always been an industrial EBM synth band for me personally (labels suck, I know), in the glorious tradition of Front 242, FLA, Haujobb and their likes, oscillating somewhere between the harshness of Lucifer's Aid and the schlager of And One - distilling a catchy essence from their own unique individual creativity. just keep going :)
    for people out there who want to discover "new" awesome stuff I for once take the opportunity to present "other stuff". happy spotifying! and people, remember to buy artists' stuff on bandcamp

    You guys have spoke with israelis as well?
    Have you gave it an open mind when you tried to understand why israel act the way it act?
    Did you come with open heart, and tried to understand both sides, or just wanted to emphasize what you already believed in before coming?
    Did you rase the banner in order to strength what is expected from you by the public, in order to sell more merchandise in Iceland? At the end, aren't you part of the capitalism game?
