    Gil is completely right about Klay's game- he hasn't changed as a player since 2015. He is not a good rebounder, can't function as a secondary playmaker and doesn't provide anything beyond being a floor spacer and now that he has lost a step, he has nothing to compensate for the loss in speed and agility.

      @harveyscottz 9 місяців тому +8

      You're right about everything EXCEPT "doesn't provide anything beyond being a floor spacer". In their small ball line-up, he's the PF. He guards the best player in the opposing team along with Wiggins if Dray's not around or he guards the best player from SF and below. The only reason his rebound is not stacked up is because they have Dray, Wiggins & Looney.

      I agree and to this guy talking about small ball, HE SHOULDNT BE PLAYING THE 4. His injuries caused him to be slower and even worse anyone stronger than him he can’t use his lower body to hold his position. He’s a great floor spacer and that’s about it. The warriors are my fav team cause I’m a Steph bandwagon but I can tell, Klay lost all ability to get better. He got hurt during the years he was supposed to improve and now he’s coming back trying to fill a position. That’s not gonna work

      @@isaiahh4108 Klay never sacrificed anything. Remember what he said when KD signed with the Warriors?
      "I'm not sacrificing sh*t"
      Steph can play equally well on and off the ball, so Klay never had to sacrifice anything. We have seen how Poole expanded his game even when he was playing with Steph. And now we have seen how well Podz can also play with Steph. Klay simply never expanded his game to contribute in other ways.

    Gil was right on the spot with his contract. Klay shoulda just took that 2y/48M and just focus on ball. Now there is too much pressure for him into the season playing for a contract. Also, Klay is very fortunate that the front office was loyal to him and giving him that supermax after he tore his acl. If this was Boston, they would have either lowballed him or shipped him off like they did to Isiah Thomas.

      Yeah I think McCants has a point. Klay may not have a bag but he’s become one of the most elite off-ball shooters of all time. He had to put effort into becoming that shooter but because he didn’t try to develop off the dribble moves with it, Gil thinks he didn’t maximize, which is philosophically true. But McCants is right that how Klay sees his game isn’t how others see it, so who’s to say he didn’t do enough if having a bag and mid post game wasn’t the role he was asked to or has the urge to fill. No rhythm. No footwork. Just a shooter. Frankly, trying to add those things is an unreasonable ask. It's too late now. Reminds of Trevor Ariza. He never developed handles either and people was trying to get him to become something he was incapable of being. Handles are hard because it's all about feel. It's like trying to teach someone how to draw. If you didn't develop it at a young age, that's not something you can learn.

    See I don't know about anyone else but it was not a surprise on Curry's style of play or the way he can score earlier in his career he would get benched for certain things because of the "traditional" game it was where basically you had one or two sharpshooters but their three's were limited to a certain amount of attempts until I believe Marc Jackson basically said "aye man shoot that mf at your discretion" then we got to see a comfortable Curry tbh this is what happens when a coach not only believes in his players but also get them in a comfort zone to where it's just having fun

He is currently, the 3 point leader, has more games with 9 3s or more, built his body to survive and even take advantage of the contact around the ring, worked harder on his endurance and off ball game. Klay, started as one of the best catch and shoot players of all time, and is gonna retire and one of the best catch and shoot players of all time with good perimeter defence. @@wgnd1614 yeah, and it just keeps rising. The market keeps getting reset because teams are having to pay players more that aren't worth the pay because they HAVE TO spend the money. Like Zach Lavine is only worth 30-35 per season, but by the end of his contract, he will be making nearly $50 mil for one season, and he's not even shown he can consistently be a second scoring option on a bad team in which he should be the number one scoring option. And now trading him is gonna be a pain in the ass.

    I hate how some people say Klays slump is because his injuries and getting older and not being the same player he once was. Its none of that, ok yes he lost a step on defense but all this shooting shit is all mental. You can read his body language. Everytime he misses he is immediately shaking his head, head down, upset. Now he is thinking about it, he misses again. Like when he came back from injury he had all these concerns if would he be the same guy and so he was already in his own head. Then he came back and was missing and all those thoughts start getting louder and he starts believing it, this is all mental. The yips. He needs a sports psychiatrist. It isnt injury it isnt losing steps. Its all mental with him. Not to mention he isnt doing what he was great at anymore, the catch n shoot, back cuts, running without the ball, all that he doesn't do anymore. He sits in the corner and tries tribbling like he is a ball handler now. And thats not what he was great at. We called him the greatest catch n shoot player ever. But he aint catching n shooting. He standing around or trying to ball handle. 60 pts 11 dribbles 29 mins. 37 a qtr. Thats all from running without the ball, getting open and catching and shooting. You dont have time to think about it when you doing that. And thats on Kerr for not realizing that. All the warriors do now, is Curry takes it up, eveyone stands around. When it used to be ball movement, moving without the ball and the open man takes the shot. Everyone else plays like the Warriors but the Warriors.
