    The idea of keeping the arms and body structure exactly the same from the top of the back swing to around the strike was great advice for me - and I think for anyone who early extends or flips.

    Hi Milo. Much better effort in explaining what the arms do then most golf instructions. Holding the right angle of our right arm? The proverbial legging of the club before impact? Heck no. This can spell disaster in many of us amateurs swing. At 71 the way I do it is at the top of my swing I simply unhinge with my left hand and throw the club head as hard as I can with my right hand and arm as I immediately release the coiled tensions from my lead side allowing my body to pivot back to the lead side as the club head travels at tremendous speed in line and around my body to that glorious picture perfect finish I have so envy seeing the professional golfers achieve. Thanks for reading.Hope I explained myself well. The golf swing in that simple.

      Thomas Fraser thanks for the comments. Mike Austin had some really good ideas! Sometimes people seem to turn he and Moe Norman into mystical figures. They were both great ball strikers with interesting ideas and personalities. I agree with many of their ideas and disagree with others. I’m happy you feel you have found the holy grail. After watching the swings you have posted I know you will get even better if you follow the athletic teachings I have put out.

      Yes I do enjoy your take on the athleticism in a golf swing. I recently had open heart surgery 6 months ago and have recovered well. I go to planet fitness now 3 times a week. I approach a young worker there name Joe and ask him if he ever played golf he said no. I ask him if he would like to accept free lessons from me. I let him know I was not a professional teacher; but wanted to apply and teach the truisms i learned in the golf swing this year. He said he would be thrilled to learn these truism for himself. We are both looking forward to spring. I told him I would never charge him; but he must be honest with me if I waste his time in any way.

    Milo- with so many UA-cam golf instructors talking about shallowing out the club on the downswing, I think a lot of us would like to hear your take on this, and if we should be consciously doing anything to make the club shallow.

    But what’s the correct move/backswing to get to the proper position at the top?

  • @jack-hq7gr
    @jack-hq7gr 6 років тому

    Keeps getting better, Could you add a point about getting deeper in the backswing with hands at the top. I suspect that many of us who have worked on L to L or idea of keeping the hands in front of the body don't get enought depth. Is line from grip at top to mid or back of right foot a good visual when viewing down the line. Hand path depth, not elbow.. Thanks.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  6 років тому

      jack yes if you are capable of turning to 90* you should see the but of the club somewhere between the middle of the right foot and the heal. This will allow you to swing from the inside without having the arms falling behind.

    Hey Milo, I noticed this is a big problem of mine…it’s hard to keep my arms in front of me when I go for speed and when I consciously make an effort to keep my arms in front of me it makes me feel tense…any issues if my arms get behind me during the backswing but letting my arms float back in front of me during the transition so when I then pivot my arms are where they are suppose to be?

  • @UnpaintedOG

    Would this work for someone who gets the hands working out too quickly on the downswing (towards the ball)?

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  3 роки тому

      I’d have to see why your hands work out too soon. There are a variety of factors that could cause that issue.

  • @vegardkarlsen9609

    I have a recollection of you saying in one of your videos; extend the right elbow in the downswing, but I may be wrong. Tried that though, and it was like a revelation. Felt like I made the arms stay at my side throughout, instead of in front of me (have been pulling the club down with hands and arms severely). My body rotated (got out of the way) by itself (the movement with my arms pushed my body around?), and impact felt more like I was slinging the club through and out in front of me. External rotation of the right shoulder (have practiced a lot with ball between my forearms) and right sidebend have to be ok though. This was so different from trying to focusing on "drive the right elbow in front" as I have tried for a LONG time without any success. Just different medicine for different patients? Thanks for your videos, great stuff!

    • @MiloLinesGolf

      Mike Richardson yes he stays in left pelvic tilt and left side bend longer than I do. His right arm also rides more on his right hip not in front as mine does. We’re all slightly different.

    Milo I think it would be helpful if you showed how the arms move independently of the body/shoulder turn. Then show how the arms move with the body. And you could break it down first in backswing then downswing.

    Milo, it would be helpful if you could post videos of your swing in slow motion from face on and down the line that repeat the same swing over and over for about 3 minutes each. It would be nice to see this with your driver, 3 wood off the deck, mid iron, full wedge, pitch, chip, long putt, and short putt. Such a library of swings would be valuable to review as you continue to add instructional content to your channel!

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  6 років тому

      Jim George that’s a cool idea. Would you like to see the swing down the line for a couple minutes in one video then the face on in a video then the iron dL in a video then FO an so on or all one video?

    • @jimgeorge72
      @jimgeorge72 6 років тому +1

      I think it would be nice to have both FO and DTL in the same video for a given club...maybe 1.5 minutes for the FO version and 1.5 minutes for the DTL version. Doing this for each example...driver through putter...would be sweet. It may work to start each video with your intro, provide club head speed and carry distance, your favorite swing thoughts for each swing, and then one FO swing at real time and then 1.5 minutes of repeat slow motion swings, then one DTL swing at real time, and 1.5 minutes of repeat slow motion swings.

    Milo, when I watch my swing on video if I draw a line along the club shaft, my club head tracks below the line quite often when I come into impact. My bad shots are hit off the toe. Now , I know I obviously don’t want to tip the club over the top, but should I try to be exaggerating the feeling of swinging my arms more in front of me or is it just a matter of pivoting better with better arm structure?

    I was going to send you some swings today, but after reviewing them myself, there is just not enough improvement on getting my right elbow in front on the down swing. I do think it’s a little better on the back swing. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten the tour striker ball. I’ve been reluctant to buy another training aid as I have bought so many. Lol. I do have one that has a cuff for each arm and a small bar in between. The arms will pop out of the cuffs if they separate. Would this have the same effect? Any other drills to get that elbow in front? I also have Power Package but don’t use it. What is your opinion on that one? Thanks for your replies. 😀

    Hey Milo. If I keep my right elbow more in front in the backswing, my hands in space won’t be as deep around me, right? If I were to throw the club down the fairway with the right only, my right arm would go straighter back on a wider arc with a less bent right elbow. Then from there I would want to keep the wide structure and a shallower arc into the impact area. Right?

    Why is it that all good ball strikers look in videos like they are looking way out in front of ball in the downswing, are you really doing that or is that just an illusion? Your head is definitely turned to the left.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  5 років тому

      David Blum my head is definitely turning as I’m hitting the ball to allow me to rotate freely through the shot. My eyes however don’t leave the ball as early as my head turns.
