Flyy girl was the first book I ever read. This was about 20 years ago. This book got me into reading. When you read this book, you will definitely see the change in slang from then and now. Happy reading.
I read Flyy Girl when I was in high school and the second book in that series. Loved it back then. Surprisingly, back then, the second book gave me so much motivation to pursue my dreams. I still consider those books to be two of my favorite of all time.
Omg! I love that a flyy girl is still making the rounds. I read this book in middle school and it moved me back then. As a Philly jawn I am so proud of the life this book has taken on. I still have my old copy from middle school lol. I think you’ve motivated me to buy a new copy. 😊
Wow Shawnaci I feel like you’re my personal book finder!! ❤you do all the work searching for these fantastic books and I listen to you discuss them and then click-I purchase them! lol definitely 7 of them I want from this haul. Thank you so much!! ❤
Hi Shawnaci , glad you're going to try Eric Jerome Dickey's, " Milk In My Coffee " it's really good. I have an Eric Jerome Dickey collection. I let my friend borrow that book after I read it twenty something years ago. I never got it back (I did repurchase a copy but it was smaller than the original). After that I stopped letting people borrow my books. But I will by them a copy if they want to read a book I own.
Flyy Girl is literally what got me into reading! That and Coldest Winter Ever. Even though I was way too young to be reading them. Lol Black girl classics!
I'm so excited for you to read Can't Hide From Love. It is such a good series and the way the 4th book ends in the series is so satisfying! I can't wait to see your reaction! Also thank you for the great recs like always!
Great haul, Shawnaci!!! There are so many good books that I need to add to my TBR! You are definitely going to enjoy the books from E.Lynn Harris, Omar Tyree, and Eric Jerome Dickey. They're really amazing books!
Such a good haul. I was sad it was over lol. I added so many to my good reads. Flyy girl was my fave book in middle school. I need to reread it as an adult
OMGEEE I was just about to suggest Fly Girl!!! I was 23 when that came out and I ate that up!!!! It was so goooood! Please look up The Westmorland series! It’s a black millionaire, cowboy romance! It’s written by Brenda Jackson. Also, I have The very first book on my kindle Demon’s Dream!!! 🤩🤩🤩
I literally just also picked up a book by Eric Jerome Dickey. I actually saw his books in Barnes so I had to do it. Also I am so interested reading a romance from a man’s pov.
I remember being in JHS (early 2000s) in Brooklyn,NY and all the girls were reading milk in my coffee. Being a Latina and a millennial, urban and books by black authors were my first intro to books, so these books are special to my ❤ I definitely did read that book. We had no business reading such an ‘adult’ book. I don’t remember much of the plot but I hope you enjoy it and I can’t wait to see what you think of it. (Omg! Flygirl! Such a throwback)
Hi Shawnaci, I just checked out my first Eric Jerome Dickey book, The business lovers from the library. Have you read it? Any other Eric Jerome Dickey book recommendations. Thx in advance. I enjoy your videos.😊
The Plan ❤I was on tiktok when the author announced the release of this debut...I was actually how she found out it was on goodreads when i told her i added it to my tbr...she was excited! I have demons dream and I can't wait to dig into it...have to wait until I have no distractions...she's a thicky
I don’t have a wishlist! I bought all of these books! I always encourage my friendships to give to free little libraries if they’re wanting to buy books
This is the description I grabbed from online! “Urban fiction, also known as street lit or street fiction, is a literary genre set in a city landscape; however, the genre is as much defined by the socio-economic realities and culture of its characters as the urban setting. The tone for urban fiction is usually dark, focusing on the underside of city living”
Ma'am....🙋♀....ma'am🙋♀....my Amazon , Thriftbooks, and Barnes and Noble (and probably Books a Million) carts are already full of suggested reads. Here, here, just take my credit cards and charge my love of reading to the game of being bookish brainiac. (just in case, this is misunderstood...I'm being sarcastic).
Some people live in countries where certain books are only available through Amazon. Not to mention plenty of authors are self published and their work is rarely available anywhere else.
Wish I lived in the US because I would support the shit out of my local bookstore! I live in a small town in Sweden where they have like ten English books and they're not hot… 😅
She does all the time. Check out her content.. you'll love the cute bookstore vlogs... unfortunately most of the books she has in this haul can't be found in a bookstore
Glad to see this comment!! Amazon is negatively harming local bookstores by undercutting the market. The strategy is to take losses on books, shut down competitors (independent bookstores), and then raise prices again. “How to Protect Bookstores and Why” by Danny Caine is a great read on this
Omg!! You got an Eric Jerome book! The best part about reading black romance is listening to R&b at the same time??!!! Omg… what a time lol
Ooo I need to do this!
Milk in My Coffee is my favorite by the late Eric Jerome Dickey
So excited to read it!
Loved all of E. Lynn Harris’ books
I’m excited to read them!
She’s in her urban era 🤎✨✨
Yesssss!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Flyy Girl is the best out of the series. Really great book. You’ll enjoy it.
Yay I’m so glad!

Omg! I love that a flyy girl is still making the rounds. I read this book in middle school and it moved me back then. As a Philly jawn I am so proud of the life this book has taken on. I still have my old copy from middle school lol. I think you’ve motivated me to buy a new copy. 😊

I literally just also picked up a book by Eric Jerome Dickey. I actually saw his books in Barnes so I had to do it. Also I am so interested reading a romance from a man’s pov.
Me too!!
Urban fiction is the umbrella and dark romance may fall under it sometimes, but not often.
Totally agree! I like the reference dark romance because for those that don’t know if they’d enjoy urban fiction because the vibes feel similar to me!
Flyy girl and Is she the reason (even though ALOT was left unanswered) 🙌🏾🙌🏾

What is Urban Romance?

Please read Gravity Is the Thing by Jaclyn Moriarty

Amazon does not deserve a penny when it comes to books
Some people live in countries where certain books are only available through Amazon. Not to mention plenty of authors are self published and their work is rarely available anywhere else.
Amazon is putting so many small stores out of business. Would love to see you supporting a local bookstore instead next time!
She does all the time. If you watch her other videos she’s constantly at indie bookstores 💕
Glad to see this comment!! Amazon is negatively harming local bookstores by undercutting the market. The strategy is to take losses on books, shut down competitors (independent bookstores), and then raise prices again. “How to Protect Bookstores and Why” by Danny Caine is a great read on this
Local book stores rarely support Indie authors. Amazon is the main platform for indie authors unfortunately.
