Got excited thinking there was finally some new updates, but no. It’s been a very long time since we got much to shout about on the ipad, Mr Sketchup!

I’m still trying to determine if this is the best way to move forward for 3D printing. I have designed an Amp Cabinet and pedal board with a previous free version of SketcUp so I am familiar with the software in a Windows environment but not on my iPad Pro with the Pro Pencil. 3D printing is relatively new and I need to get away from using Thingiverse for everything printable and make custom enclosures for my electronics (side of woodworking) projects as ell as other things. My alternatives are continue to use free version of Fusion 360 (now called Fusion) which I believe stopped working with the rollout of Fusion and is ridiculously expensive for the hobbyist. Or, I can try Shapr3D which the free version is creating less than desirable quality STL files but may work better if I pay nearly twice the cost of Sketchup’s iPad version. I still don’t know if the same occurs there until I purchase the more expensive version or if I can get the 3D printing specific extensions on the iPad version. All I know for sure is that it will import an STL (a plus for redimensioning Thingiverse files) and output to STL a must for most 3D Printing Slicers. Any Thoughts?

Sketchup for desktop works faster, but I like to model on the couch with the iPad

SketchUp for IPad is cool but I would argue that any real work will be done in front of my 4K monitor. There just isn’t enough screen real estate on an IPad to design efficiently.
