Purchased 2 on clearance for $7 each at Walmart one was healthy the other was brown crunchy leaves. Watered that one with distilled water because I read that salt tends to build up on the potted ones. It’s now thriving just need to trim them so they match.
Hi - It depends if you want your topiary to get larger or maintain that size. If you like the size you have, then prune once a month or as needed. If you want it grow larger then let it go for another month and then prune it to shape it. It will slowly get larger that way.

Great hairdressing job!
@everyday Gardener I have this plant potted earlier this spring and it’s starting to grow out but I don’t think enough to prune/shape. Should I wait??

I paid $40 for mine from Home Depot. No way!
I did get it as a small $14 one. Then I've been letting it grow and not trimming back too hard and it will get bigger. Good Luck !
