Great video! You always make a great sound when you play. They didn't start putting pews in churches until the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s. Until then, people stood for the entire mass. So, Mary-at-Hill has gone old school. Or should I say, "old church?"
Thanks Matt for the behind-the-scenes look at St. Mary-at-Hill. What a stunning building and the organ has a wonderful full sound, although the inverted keys would play havoc with my mind 😂
You are such a lovely lad full of talent! How do you arrange all your recitals and decide where to play? Always enjoy your videos and it's great you take us on a journey of the actual organ and show us some of its challenges. Take care Matt. 🤗xxx
Reverse key color here in the US means it is a tracker organ. Can I assume it is the same over there? Heavy touch, it’s a tracker! Builds finger strength. .
Organ originally built by Father Smith in 1692. It was rebuilt by Thomas Hill in 1848, and from there was maintained by Hill Norman and Beard until the 1970s when it gradually deteriorated. Mander Organs then rebuilt it in 2000 using as much of the original material as possible.
A very interesting video & good luck with the concert !!!
Thank you really enjoyed this

On one our rebuilds we took out the stop action and put on slider motors so we were able to give the organ pistons, adjustable of course.

Bravo my guy 👏 Happy Monday from Palm Beach Florida 😎
00:40 31 July I'll have to research that organ on Google. For the heavy touch, you're playing it very fluently.
