As someone who never had a loving father, but a very abusive step dad, I can testify that through the Gospel message God became my loving Father and He healed my brokenness and filled me with joy. He became my loving Father, my protector, and my provider. God is true and God is faithful. He has been an amazing Father to me. He never fails me and never leaves me. As someone who was abused by my 'father' as a child, I did have an issue with the 'Our Father' in the Lord's prayer at one time, but, I have since come to terms with it and no longer make that connection. Our Father in heaven is nothing like the earthly 'fathers' who abuse their children. For me, the Biblical version of the prayer is the only one I will ever say. Any attempt to try and change it is just another attack on the Christian faith.

I agree 100% with what these two gentlemen said. I despair when I go to a CofE church now. I feel so uncomfortable, so at a loss as to what is going on, so horrified at the vandalism of the prayers, the scriptures, the services that I go less and less. I have been going to church for 60 years and it has changed beyond all recognition and it is no longer the comforting, familiar place that I loved so much. A new version of the Lord's prayer was forced upon us recently and all I could do was sit and cry. Yet another faithful churchgoer has been driven away.

My father, (born 1927) was a very strong Catholic and his parents/ grandparents also. In the 60's when prayers were changed, 'offer the sign of peace' which was shaking hands with everyone around you introduced and general modernisation, completely destroyed his faith in the religion and he saw it as more of a business. 1. Believe humans should all be carnivores. Well, it does work for a very small number of people, notably Jordan Peterson and his daughter; but most people find an omnivorous diet works best for them, to get a full range of vitamins and minerals.

What we have to understand, though is that when we say "Our Father" it doesn't mean that God is in the image of our abuser, it doesn't refer to the men who hurt us.
