I've done it twice, had one in each armpit where my underwire rubbed. Slapped some Orajel on to numb, then used cuticle nippers that had been through an autoclave at work. It's been 15+ years and they have not come back--got bras that actually fit!
I agree with the reasoning however…Dr. Lee is a good dermatologist. I finally broke down and went to the one my doctor referred me to as I used to lifeguard and had a few spots I wanted looked at. The appointment lasted less than five minutes and when I mentioned a spot on my ear that I wanted them to take a better look at, I was sprayed with liquid nitrogen (without asking permission) and shooed out the door. They then billed me for “surgery” and my insurance didn’t cover everything, so I was left with a $200 bill. My mother had a similar experience at another dermatologist. I feel like unless you’re going to generate significant revenue with multiple procedures, you’re chopped liver.
One doctor told me 800$! And it was causing me pain and concern because my braw would get stuck on it. I was afraid it would get ripped off by the braw and an infection could start. Apparently insurance still believed it was still esthetic reasons I wanted it gone
@@lolabloo did you end up getting it removed? If it is still bothering you. Tie a “constrictor knot” (look up instructions on YT), place it over the mole, pull the ends and tighten it down. Leave it there until it falls off. It’s not too hard. I’ve done this on a mole in much the same spot, and it is improved!
I had a big one on my back that would get knocked by my bra strap. My doctor kept saying he’d sort it but he never did so I got my mum to tie it off & we just put a band aid over it & it did dry up & fall off. I’ve had no ill effects as a result.
When I feel a small growth I check it out. Small enough, they have no nerve endings. No pain. Had a few on my back. My mom put her tweezers in alcohol and twisted them off. Never returned.
Constrictor Knot - if you are tying one off with thread, this is what you want. It will tighten down easily, even if you can only pull one end at a time. It won’t loosen. 👌🏼 So funny that the whole comments section is just sharing tips on how to DIY. I don’t blame y’all, doctors are expensive and half the time they won’t do it. Honestly, my DIY have been better than the ones I had done by doctors. Good Luck Everyone!
Thank you. I was going to try removing mine, in the bend of my leg. Doc said insurance didn't pay enough. She said to get a pair of surgical scissors and snip it off. Not happening. Thought about using dental floss or thread.
I had one recently on my neck that just was annoying to me. Eventually my clothes the heaviness of them rubbed up against it and slowly just took it off. Didn't even feel anything once that happened. So glad it's gone.
I've ripped them off with my fingernails. Yes it hurts. Yes it bleeds. But if the doctor won't freeze it, then sooner or later I'm going to get so irritated by it that I just rip the darn thing off.
I had a mole in my neck that for some reason rose up and I started to pick on it. I got scared one day that it inflamed and I started to think I would somehow take it off and bleed to death so I went to the dermathologist. I asked for him to take it off. I don't have it anymore and I'm happy my irrational thought of bleeding out off the neck from taking it off accidentaly is no longer there.
I've got both moles and skin tags. There are some that are obviously skin tags that if I'm going to get them removed it is going to be a DYI. The cost would be prohibitive. Have got some moles zapped with liquid nitrogen and suspicious ones cut out in the past by my family physician. Those were of no cost at the time (In Canada).
Thanks for the warning, too many people think they know, but some of us have generations of farm life to call on and know when and when not to call the vet. Thanks for doing when we are in over our heads.
I understand her concerns. However, I did once successfully strangulate a skin tag with dental floss. I think it took a few weeks to turn black and fall off. I have another one that I can't quite lasso, so I'll just live with it.
I had a huge mole on my chest. It looked like another nipple. I went to a dermatologist and he said the root system would be huge so he wouldn’t advise it. He said there would be too much scarring. Well, I now knew it was just a creepy ass scar and nothing dangerous so I went and got some wart remover with the nitrous oxide and I froze it. After a week it fell off and no trace left behind. Nada!
So Basically the Dr was an Dumbass 🤡 👋 They All Are It seems,,, If they don’t “know” about something, they will Act like the would “advise against it”,,, I would “advise” each individual taking their own health in their OWN hands,,, maybe some are So Extremely Dumb that it’s not a possibility,,, But those who have a respectable IQ, have no Problem handling these “non Cancerous” Issues,,, it’s So Simple it hurts 😜
I used Dr. Scholl's skintag remover kit. Im still waiting for it to fall off. They said it could take up to 2 weeks, and it'll be 1 week tomorrow. I've been keeping a bandaid on it cause it hurts when it rubs my skin or clothes. I hope it works cause i dont want to do it again.
If you start to feel something, if you poke a hole in it and try to remove the top layer of skin it will prevent it from getting bigger. I’ve had a few that I caught early did that and it seemed to stop them in their tracks. Others I have had to twist and clip. lol. I don’t touch moles or with color.
I had a benign skin cancer few years ago. Go see a dermatologist before touching your skin for these things, no jokes. I am serious. At first, the look was darker, he ask fir a biopsy and it was cancerous. 😮
When i was in the Army i had one in my armpit and used the dental floss method, but I didn't want to go on sick call for the dumb reason "I didn't want the down time." I figured it was not discolored and flesh colored almost translucent. Fortunately, nothing bad happened.
I had one come up in my armpit. I didn't mess with it until the day it started burning, and when I looked at it on its little stalk I saw it was swollen and black. It eventually dried up and fell off. I apologized to the dermatologist the next time I saw her, because it fell down the drain. She said she didn't need to see it.
I've only ever had 1 skintsg and I live in Canada so I could have been reffered to get it removed for nothing out of pocket but I decided just to do it my self. I used nail clippers. I slathered on some polysporin and put a plaster on it and it was grand. Hasn't come back either.
I had one of these tags on my eyelid and one day I was removing makeup from my face, and I put just a bit more of pressure while passing the cotton disc on my eyelid that partially removed the tag 😮a bit of blood came out, since that skin had just been damaged but I didn’t touched it after that. I just kept washing my face normally and then after a few days it eventually fell of my eyelid 😅
Get them checked out please. My eight yr old little cousin has tons of little brown moles all over her neck and torso and they finally got them checked and it is a very manageable form of cancer. She has to go in and get them routinely frozen off. It’s scary. Get it checked
I had a tiny skin tag on my neck since i was a little kid and i just twisted it every once in a while I noticed that it got a little hard and it eventually just fell off. Havent had any problems with it ever again
I had one that grew really fast on my eyelid and I couldn't show my face lol so I took a cuticle scissor and lit it with a lighter to sterilize it and cut it. It hurt so much I couldn't believe it. And I only cut half of it so I had to do it again. inflicting that much pain on yourself is really hard lol. But I did it and it came off.😮😅
My prescription acne mask caused my cancer looking mole to itch so bad that i kept rubbing it. After a couple of weeks it broke off in pieces and all fell off. Clindoxyl at night and tritonin under moisturizer in the day. In my 50s.
Had one on my chest. It recently dropped off. I didn’t try myself to remove it, but one of my pets chewed it a couple times and must have damaged the blood supply 😅
Sterilized cuticle cutters, all of them flesh toned, never on my face, and I wear gloves AND clean the area beforehand. I mean, I helped remove skin tags when I was deployed...
If I'm 99.9% sure it's a skin tag, I am not jumping through all of the bullshit hoops of the hopeless American health care system to get a dermatologist referral for what will be deemed an "unnecessary cosmetic procedure," nor am I paying some obscene amount out of pocket. I'm just going to sterilize the nail scissors or razor blade. Thanks anyway.
The NHS in the UK classes them as cosmetic so won't help either. They'll only remove them if they are causing "significant" issues (like being behind your ear if you wear glasses or hearing aids) or if causing a secondary problem (like repeated infections.) It's not like if I had a tonne of money I wouldn't go pay a Dr to chop off all my unwanted lumps and bumps, I'd probably get my eye bags treated too!
I removed a a pretty big mole on my neck in the 5th grade. Kids would always say “you have a nasty booger on your neck” so one day I pulled the sizers from my pencil box and cut it in class. It was non stop bleeding and the teacher and kids freaked out 😂 I went home put a Vaseline and a bandaid.. and the next day I was so excited to show everyone my booger is gone 😎
I had one starting to form and was like “No… we aren’t doing that” and literally just grabbed it and yanked it off. It hurt, it bled a lot, but it also worked just fine and left no scar… >.>
Cutting off warts can spread more warts. Best to get them frozen off. You can buy the acid or home freezing kits. You have to be after them seriously for a long time. They are tenacious.
I recently asked my pcp if she could remove a could skin tags from my underarm. She looked at me and grumpily replied, "can't you just tye a piece of thread around it?" 🙄😒 ffs
You will want a constrictor knot. It is the best for this application. Tie it where you can see, then place it over the tag. You can lift the tag with one hand while pulling the ends of the thread one at a time on the knot. It’s a Really Good Knot for this application.
I have these on my neck and under arms, I remember always washing and the one under my arm would always feel funny, one day as I was washing it came off and I didn’t even realize it
Skin tags are a warning - metabolic syndrome. Check in with your primary care md. Check your fasting insulin / HA1C . I went keto and all my skin tags went away.
I have one by each of my eyes and two under each armpit. Its annoying. I also think that its either a pimple and the one around eyes are a piece of that crusty stuff that you get in your eye.

You're so right.
If only removal was covered by insurance.........
Half the time doctors decline to do it even if you are paying out of pocket.

I went to a dermatologist for my skin tags. They were going to charge me $25.00 per skin tag. Needless to say. I came home and did it myself.

I asked a doctor to remove two on my eye lid, on the lash line that bothered my eye. They refused so I removed it myself.
Yes that’s what happens, we take the problem into our own hands!
I've a lot of them... Is it true that it's a sign of diabetes?!?!
I clipped mine off with nail clippers. Didn't feel the best, but it worked. I had so many along my bra line I just clipped them off! 😅
I'm seeing a lot of posts about them on or about the bra lines. Why are they appearing in those spots?
Skin tags can be treated with Retinol. I had tags on my neck. I was using Retinol on my face so I started putting it on the tags. It worked!
How was that proces in terms of lengths and discomfort.
I use Tea Tree oil and it works fine no blood!!
Used nail clippers all the time. And my hair cutting shears they are very sharp! Bled like a sucker...
When I feel a small growth I check it out. Small enough, they have no nerve endings. No pain. Had a few on my back. My mom put her tweezers in alcohol and twisted them off. Never returned.
My Dad had a lot of skin tags and moles. Many he had froze off. I got one skin tag behind my knee I pinched it off. Thankful never to grow another!😅
Apple Cider Vinegar is brilliant for skin tag removal. Just dab tag everyday with a Q tip n it soon falls off. Can be dabbed every few hours
Yep this is known to work ❤
Mine was confirmed skin tag so i wrapped dental floss round it and it dropped off over a few days. No pain and it's never come back.

I used Cryotag from Amazon. But I would only use it on a definate skin tag. Also only where I could see what I was doing
I've ripped them off with my fingernails. Yes it hurts. Yes it bleeds. But if the doctor won't freeze it, then sooner or later I'm going to get so irritated by it that I just rip the darn thing off.
I've done the skin tag strangulation before. Worked like a charm.
Yes I've picked a couple off myself with my fingers. They were small and caused no problem. But I get what you're saying.
Used the little rubber band home kit thing for a few, worked great!
I am using apple cider vinegar to remove a wart and it's working.

I bought her pimple popper kit! Comes in a nice little case & has several different tools.
I did one of mine with a kit I bought, a little band goes round it to basically cut off the blood supply. It worked perfectly well.
Where did you get the kit?

I have skin tags on my eye lid my dermatologist suggested that I go to an eye dr to get it removed. What’s your thoughts?
I think the eye doctor is going to be more comfortable with it and better at it. Get it done, you will be happier with your appearance.
They have home kits for skin tags that I would consider. But home remedies sound dangerous. These things can bleed or get infected.
Exactlly
A cut in the kitchen can get infected.

I think most people can tell the difference between an actual skin tag and a mole
I removed one, but was an accident. I thought it was leftover wax. Ups....
