What you said about Sakura is spot on. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a Kawazu Zakura tree in full bloom in February. It was in Ebina, Kanagawa. My Japanese friend confirmed that I wasn’t imagining it and it was indeed Sakura. I also like the Ume (plum blossom) bloom in February. IMHO, it is slightly aesthetically prettier than Sakura. I like the zig zag shape of the branches. There is a nice grove of different varieties of Ume outside Osaka castle.
    Great videos and information! Mahalo!

If anyone is on the fence about booking a tour with Kota - do it! We had a great night out with Kota last August. Thanks Kota - hope to see you again someday!

That couple from California are nuts, haha. A high of 50 F is not cold. That’s almost zip up hoody weather.

January and February are my favorite months in Japan- few crowds, interesting festivals. There is a sewing needle blessing day in Asakusa, I can't remember the exact date...Do you?

Although the Hina Festival is on March 3, many of the Hina doll displays occur in February leading up to it. They are usually found in old historic districts (machinami), and February is a great time to visit these areas because the townscapes are often similar no matter the season.
Mount Fuji lovers should enjoy the greater number of clear days in February (and January) when you have a higher chance of seeing the mountain. The snow atop the mountain is also a treat for Fuji photographers.

He probably didn't mention it because it's not really something tourists can participate in.
