The first time I became aware of this character was in John Brine’s Legend. Great limited series. I immediately became a fan of the character. However, I found it strange that in a medium that typically makes every female character attractive. The one black character in the book (one of the few in DC in 80whatever) and some creator was like, “You know what? Let’s make her fat, unattractive heifer. Oh and let’s make her black. Just giver her a mini fro. Oh and sometimes a receding hairline.” Saying all that she is one of the most interesting, capable characters in DC. Batman can’t scare her and in one story line when Batman threatens her she threatens him right back by hinting that she knows his real identity. D🤯PE!
