- Switching it up today with an informational video.. Going out on the boat today so a more typical vlog style will be up tomorrow! Figured this video wouldn't knock it out of the park, but if it can help a few of you find bigger and more fish in the ponds around you then it has served it's purpose. Thanks for watching!!

Brilliant!!! Tell a man where to fish...he will catch some fish for a little while but teach a man how to use Google Earth to explore his environment, he will catch fish for a lifetime. Bravo. Thank you for this great tutorial!
Small ponds can surprise you too. I grew up with a pond next to my house. It was obvious a waterhole from back when it was farmland. It was about a quarter of an acre in size. I cut my teeth on fishing at that pond. I have pulled out 6-8 lb bass from it and the same size or larger catfish. It had bream, minnows, muskrats, snapping turtles, mud turtles, painted turtles, bullfrogs, and of course water moccasins. But during the summer it would dry out to about half the size of when it is full. It was fantastic. It literally broke my heart when the owner died and his grandson came in and cut into the side to drain the pond completely. Now it's just a grassy/wooded area. What a loss. Anyways, the point of my story is, small ponds can hold large fish too.
People don’t believe me when I tell them I caught 8 flathead catfish ranging from 3lbs to the biggest I caught was abt 8lb. They were trapped in a little pond that connects to a creek but still. A guy driving by yelled “ain’t gon catch any fish there”. Only if he saw what I pulled out by the end of the couple hours. Fished em all out cuz I assume they’ll die when winter comes. Not like it’s gonna rain anymore so they’re stuck
I can't believe nobody's made a video like this before, very helpful tips
That's why I figured I'd make it, glad they're of use to you!
thank you so much I just marked 23 ponds by my house I only knew about 2 :}
Glad you find the tips useful!!
Im happy for you
I watch a lot of UA-cam fishing videos and this is going in my top 10 folder. very informative and a different angle than I have seen before. nice work
Thanks so much my man!! So glad to hear you enjoyed, hope it's of use to you!
This is one of the most helpful fishing videos i've watched, no joke. I downloaded Google Earth and i'm doing this stuff as I watch and I bookmarked this video.
Also if you don't mind answering this question, if the water isn't super clear on Google Earth and it doesn't come up on Navionics is there any other way to tell the depth of the water? Thank you again for this video!
I just started fishing this year, and I thought to use google earth to find places to fish. Doing that, I realized an added bonus of using street side view to find open areas to get to the water, and to know where to park if there is any. Its great. Been finding lots of bass.
I grew up skating at the skatepark next to the first pond you went to, nice video!
awesome I use Google earth but only on my phone had no idea I could do some of the things you showed. i will be sharing this with a few fishing groups to help you out
Great vid man. Appreciate that you're teaching and not just vlogging.
Thanks my man, figured this info could help a lot of people out
this is an awesome video man. Haven't seen anything like this before. super helpful!
+Greg Thomas glad you enjoyed!!
One of the most helpful videos on UA-cam for fish
Sweet vid bud. Been using google earth like this for a while. I'm in the area too. Fished everything around here starting to move north toward my parents property. Lakes everywhere
I live in the chicago suburbs-god i wish I had this video in high school
tight lines man
Good material Chris! Thank you for the help.
Most helpful fishing video i have ever seen.
I was hoping some would find it useful, it has helped me tremendously in finding honey holes!
Thank you! So much.. you were a big help.. " YOUR THE BEST!" 😀
Great I found a bunch of ponds around me. Now how do I get permission? Maybe do a video on that. Because I usually ask for forgiveness if I get caught.
Same issue around me. Tons of ponds, I look them up and they say public, but when I go to them they have signs everywhere saying private property. It's disappointing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you ask the land lord?
I normally look to see if it's at a park, or close to the road
Walk in and fish til you get kicked out. Give no fucks. I sneak into ponds all the time.
soevasive same bro😂
Great video Chris. I gained a lot of respect for you after watching this video. I do tons of research like you have here. Its nice to see that you actually spent time hunting this stuff down instead of just being born into some rich family full of fisherman and boats that show you every little thing since you were young. Props brother keep up the great vids!
I use Google Earth on my phone daily to locate ponds. I had no idea that you could do all of this on the computer! Thanks for the tips!
I was surprised when I first learned this too!

Dude you need to get Jon and them to advertise your channel, cuz you need thousands of subs. This is awesome
Thanks my man! Hoping the channel grows, show your friends :)
Thanks for the tips, since I don't have a boat (yet) i'm stuck with pond fishing.
Ponds are still one of the best ways to learn and catch big ones, get out and explore!

MR-FL
codemiesterbeats ITS TIME TO STOP.
This is a great video. I can't tell you how much time I waste looking on Google Earth for spots.
Thanks! It can sure be addicting..
Incredible video my man. Keep it up.
Great video, dude. The only problem for me is literally every single body of water within 30 miles is private property, no trespassing, etc. Like why do people care so much about people fishing?
TylerrFTW because they are communists. Only explanation
I’ve found a pond created in 1960 and I’ve been there twice, BOTH times I broke my PB the first time I caught a 7.5 the next time a 7.8
Good video thanks for the tips
Wow i can fish there tomorrow if i wanted too, i live close by
Thanks for the tip!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Wow that was pretty clever brilliant!
In my area there are no public ponds. Everyone owns them. There's a golf course with 7 pound bass, and it's not allowed to be fished. There's also 3 nice ponds too.
same
Tysm for this video I was watching the frog technique vid and I went here
+Jake Dombroski thanks my man, hope you can put it to use!

Saltykingkrab 1 look at your videos there so cringe 😂 #shutup
your luck you got a lot of ponds I live in Merced county and only have a canal where me and my friend ride our bikes to and only catch carp and once in a while large mouth bass and the nearby rivers aren't good fishing spots. But I never thought of using Google Earth lol thanks for the good video.
I was lucky for sure, glad you enjoyed!
Great tips also use BING and use /mapspreview and select BIRDS EYE View in the upper right and that is done by airplane not satellite. Some areas are all blocky and strange but it is a great way to see really up to date views of the area you are planning on going to. I use it to find cuts and guts in the ocean so I can find the place that fish are holding up.
Also a great tool to use, great point!
good video. I have use Google Earth for years to do the same.
Awesome vid, thanks for the tip
Thanks for the support!
Haha im going to traverse city to visit family thanks for showing me torch lake
Great information thanks!!
+Chris Ogletree glad it can be of use to you!!
U need to do a video for different lures to use for different season and river to lakes are ponds
This is very helpful!
Glad to hear!
Dude I love it this helped me so much
Glad this'll be of use to you!
Love your vids man!!
To add to this I would get apps like fish brain and look in your area to see what the pond might hold
Thanks for the tips!
Glad you enjoyed!
nice
this was the vid i was searching for
I'm using these tips to find ponds but still can't seem to find a good one. Most of the ponds around me have houses that surround them so they're very hard to fish. Any other tips you would give?
Whats up dude found this video randomly, didn't expect you to pull up a spot half an hour away from me hahaha. I live in Mt. Prospect I fish everyday. Let's fish sometime!
PS. how do I get all these features on my google earth? is it for mac only? im only getting the regular maps shit but im on Earth
i really find this vid helpfull thanks chris
Glad you enjoyed!
Good lookin dude
I think that is a very good tool to use for ponds
It has helped me for years now!
"I'm blessed to live in a place like Chicago." what? lol
+Dorian Payne quote the whole sentence and it makes sense, Chicago is also a great city!
@@chrisbulaw7270 still think the same thing? Lol
@@UGotTheFunk I imagine as long as you dont live in South Side your good lol.
@@davycornell8715 I also live in the northwestern suburbs its rly a good place
Just go to Indiana a few minutes away
awsome used it found a new pond right away
CHRIS! this video is amazing! Could you posted the full name of the app? I'm also on a mac and I see a few different ones that cost. I'm completely capable of paying for it, just want to make sure I get the right one. Please & thanks!!
GREAT VIDEO
Hey man, any chance you could post your pins somehow on the chicagoland area? I'd love to give some of those ponds a shot
Thank you!
This is the single most useful fishing video I have seen on UA-cam...atleast for me. Instant sub!
Really cool vid bro
Unless I'm on the wrong page, it looks like navionics is really expensive now.
