    Does anyone know of anyone offering reproduction/used Amiga 2000 Shield?

      Sadly I can not find a single person doing so. I found that its not hard to reproduce one though. You just need Stainless Sheet Steel with a higher nickle content than used in cookware. And having a dielectric metal sealer to coat the metal after cutting or stamping to shape helps too. I had to cut the one I made at an old friends place, and it took about 40 hours of work to do, since I was going slow to make it perfect.

      Might be a future project, you never know 😄

      Thanks appreciate the feedback from the master himself.... (not worthy... ) finding Amiga boards are quite nice to work on...

    Nice. I plan to do the 2meg mod to my A2000 as well.

    Deffo do a video on the method for physical dis imaging. I stashed several PC scsi cards just for this process,just never got round to it till now.

      I'm going to do one soon!! There are a few methods available now for SCSI :) (The hard one was the MFM drive, as I had to do that one on the Amiga)

    Add a Raspberry Pi Zero and watch it fly!!

      Thanks for watching !! I could go the pi storm route, I would loose SCSI, i.e. CD Drive. For me an 030 at 40Mhz is a decent Amiga for the period and is more than enough for me at the moment, as for display I have that covered keep watching... who knows what the future holds :)

    At least its not a Rev 4, those things seem to hate life.

    • @hackbuildrestore
      @hackbuildrestore  6 місяців тому

      ... It's a Rev 4 Case, but yes the rev 4 boards do seem to suffer more than the rev 6s!

    Also regarding the undershield. I have 6 x A2000 machines. Only 1 has the metal RF shielding with a plastic sheet fitted. The rest of the machines have the boards just screwed into the case, no metal or plastic sheet. Is this correct? I just assumed only the USA machines had these extras?

    • @hackbuildrestore
      @hackbuildrestore  4 місяці тому

      It's honestly not clear, I think they all would have had the shielding but I can't know for sure, mine is a rev 4 case with a rev 6 board, so I'm assuming in that swap the shield was discarded probably because of corrosion ... Sorry I can't give you anything more concrete...

    Can I please know the source of the extra edge connectors, the ones fitted to make the ISA slots full 16bit. I have some but the quality is not like the original commodore stuff, ideally I want the same brand as commodore fitted.

      If you want them to match you will struggle as I don't think FOX are around anymore, however one possible trick is to use the video port connectors i.e. move them to the ISA positions and then use two new matching connectors to replace the video port connectors... The ones I used are just from china ...

    Got a RAMSES board myself for my A500 but I'm hesitant to install it for just this reason.

      If you are not too gun go you shouldn't have an issue my agnus had suffered a little from battery leakage which does weaken the plastic and makes the pins less "springy", your garry socket is going to stretch with the turn pins on the adaptor but that's only an issue if you want to reverse the install...

    • @75slaine

      My Gary socket already has an adapter in it from back in the day, so I’m not too bothered about that. I have PowerComputing 1.5MB trapdoor upgrade giving it .5 chip, 1.5 slow. I had my workbench modified to use a RAD drive which made working with some basic workbench tools lightening fast. ❤

    • @hackbuildrestore
      @hackbuildrestore  7 місяців тому

      I think the Rameses will cut off the trapdoor as it uses it's own on board 2MB which is faster than the usual 500 Chip RAM!

    • @75slaine
      @75slaine 7 місяців тому +1

      @@hackbuildrestore yeah it will. The A500 is now upgraded beyond what I had back in the day. So the 1.5MB slow RAM won’t be missed. It’s got a HC533 board in the CPU slot, gives it a 33MHz 68000, 8MB Fast RAM and bootable IDE interface under Kickstart 1.3. So adding the Ramses board will simply swap the .5 Chip / 1.5 Slow RAM out for a faster 2MB Chip, which will be better for WHDLoad games. I’ll be honest, I don’t really need it if I’m mainly using WB 1.3 install on this box. It’s more the fun of having my A500 maxed out with period achievable enhancements. An A500 with a bootable HDD and 10MB of RAM would have made for an ultimate A500 setup back in the day.

    same just happened to me. Bad thing is that the legs of the old agnus stuck to the socket and killed it, and I cannot verify if the 8375 I have now is working because the adapter arrived broken too (from overseas - no chance in RMAing this).
    Ramesses II does not seem to be available anymore? Any other 2MB adapters that you can recommend?

      If you're ok with soldering take a look at the one Rob Smith installs here ua-cam.com/video/KsuVr18EXdk/v-deo.htmlsi=FRN_Vr07UveEgWHg

      Thanks for watching, and thank you for taking the time to feedback. I have been working on improving the experience of music vs voice, hopefully, this is better on more recent videos. Hope I haven't put you off completely!!
