I've taken on the challenging yet rewarding task of bringing an Amiga 2000 back to life. If you’ve been following along, you know the journey hasn’t been smooth. The last update left the Amiga half-assembled with a problematic CPU slot and an overheating hard drive. As if that wasn't enough, the power supply decided to give up on me.
Upon deeper inspection, it was clear that more work was needed...

Thanks for watching, I'll have an update on the tick generator at some point in the future.

I'm guessing voltage regulator on a heatsink, which is why after recap it worked and then shorted out again. Check voltage across all 3 combinations of the three legs to verify (1 to 2, 1 to 3, 2 to 3)

Thanks for watching! Yes, your guess might be right! but ,for me, it got to the point of "not economical" really, I might take another look another time if I can find compatible parts.

All you need is a TICK signal generator and jobs done on that side of things :) EDIT: I was given a link for something which is brilliant! its a combined atx to amiga plug with the tick generator inside it, all in one neat package. I will hunt the link down.

Thanks for watching... Options are always good, I have seen a few solutions, most cost more than the power supply (which you still need) plus I didn't need -5v gen and a 555 is like 80p and works a treat :) I'll be making a more polished replacement soon :)
