As an Australian thank you for taking the time to explain everything (location etc) and not assume everybody knows what you're talking about! It was super refreshing not being confused hahah xx
@@angeliquevickers9296 true none of those bathrooms were “run down”. that’s why these type of videos can come off so entitled bc most people would love a bathroom like that 🙌😭
For the price, I would expect the kitchen and bathrooms to be fully updated. However, I think a better word to describe them would be "outdated" rather than "rundown". I thought the last bathroom was sooo cute though!
Me living in Germany totally confused why you would need 2 bedrooms and 2 or 3 bathrooms. Here it’s not even a Common thing that houses have 2 to 3 bathrooms. But I loved the way you also educated me on the geography of La because sadly I did not get the chance to travel to America jet.
I was thinking the same thing about the bathrooms, how could one person need more than one bathroom? It’s crazy how different apartments in the US are from European ones
Woow this is so different from what European people are used to. I’m a (middle class-upper class) student from Belgium and here you usually share a student flat/appartement with other people (which is actually quiet nice, you experience a lot ;)) and I paid around 500€ pp which is already quiet high for Belgium, in cities like Budapest you can find a similar place for 200€ and in London, Munchen or Paris i would guess you pay 900€. And then you end up with a tiny room, and often shared kitchen or bathroom 😅 don’t even start about the condition of the buildings.. but they do have a lot of character!
Oh, her experience isn't typical in the slightest. What you describe is nearly identical to what I experienced in a major city in the US. I paid $1600/month when I was in university, split four ways (so I paid $400+utilities). Shared kitchen, one bathroom for four people, etc. Tiny bedroom, hardly large enough for a double bed. When I graduated, I moved to the big city nearby and paid about $950/month+utilities. Again, tiny room in a shared flat so a shared kitchen. But we had two bathrooms so it felt luxurious. The homes she's seeing are upper class. Most people couldn't dream of paying $6000/month for rent!
The fact that when you talk about transport connection you mean freeways and thinking about needing parking space for friends coming over is SO weird to me! So thankful of public transportation options here in German citys! Really interesting to see how other big city's work
There is lots of public transportation here in LA it’s just people don’t really favor it as opposed to using cars because of how big the city is and it’s easier to get around with cars especially since people like leaving the city to go to surrounding ones like Orange County, Laguna beach, or Calabasas
I live in a nice area, city views, 5 bedrooms 3 bathrooms, 2 nice kitchens, big garden, with all the time sunny weather I only pay 600 a month. wow LA prices are alot.
What you called small is normal in the area in Germany where I live because it is a popular try-border region and Germany/Europe is more densely populated.
Tbh if you can afford that rent I would recommend saving up for a down payment and purchasing a house if it's possible. I know LA doesn't have a lot of availability but it would be a better investment if you have the opportunity and the mortgage will be equal to or less than whatever your rent would be in other places. Just a thought!
This is so exciting and being someone the same age that is walking through the apartment process I'm so happy to see you further your journey and you being more mature!!! You are so cute!
Lol how you say these placeses are run down or small.... I think you should visit me in my apartment. @@jocelyngarcia2636 i feel like all of these types of videos seem that way. in her defense for that price she has a right to be picky, but that can come off as very privileged. that’s why these videos aren’t always the best
@@biscuitballerina4468 I disagree. She comes across even more tone deaf *because* of the price range. Those multi-bedroom flats and homes are designed to be split amongst roommates, not for one person to live in. LA is really expensive, but she's also choosing to look in some of the most expensive areas, at luxury buildings, at rentals built for 2+ (often 3+) people. And she's here moaning about a newly renovated, well-kept 100-year-old house with original details being "rundown". Atrocious.
wait so like, is it normal in the usa that each bedroom has a private bathroom? or is it just bc these are really nice places? i see this veeeeeery rarely in germany, (even in expensive flats) its completely normal for me to share with all my flatmates
Ya that’s typically the case. there’s usually a bathroom per room or there’s a bathroom connected to the main bedroom and then one in the general living area, or one connected to the main bedroom and then one that connects 2 bedrooms to each other.
No I wouldn’t say it’s normal. Usually there’s a master bathroom in the master bedroom but most homes don’t have a private bathroom in each one. It’s more typical amongst expensive houses and in wealthy areas. (As far as apartments go it’s usually one shared bathroom).
@@cookiemonster2577 yes, but the op specified that they were asking about bathrooms in bedrooms. It’s not typical for every or even most bedrooms in a house to have their own private bathroom.
GOOD LORD! Every time you said what the monthly rent was for an apartment/house my jaw fell open in disbelief...I would flee that benighted state as soon as possible, if I were you. Those prices are completely irrationally insane when viewed from literally anywhere else in the country. I may have to go lay down...
In LA you pay for the weather? Is that really something that people consider when choosing a city to live in? I mean, excluding cities and areas around the world with REALLY bad weather, but other than that...is it really essential to live somewhere where it's always sunny? Idk sounds weird hahah
