bruh ayato was the only one doing dmg vs a full top tier meta national team, so this as basically ayato alone vs a full national team( nahida, jean and thoma where doing no dmg and they were just for the shields)
Samey played so well but how is it fair that he has to go up against c6 yae, yelan and ayato? this challenge was definitely not fair at all, there needs to be some categories on dolphin and whale, limits on constellations or something Title was originally "dolphin vs dolphin for anyone new"

The original bilibili links are in the description so you can click and browse through more of those competitions, albeit without english translation. Idk if the original creators of this tournament are still running though, heard some drama went on, but it’s been ages since i last followed up.
Here's a tip for future videos, I think the restrictions in the matches should only apply to the whales.. The dolphin players should be allowed to fight at their full power.. That way the matches would be wayy more exciting..
We are at a point where they should lift any ban for these last abysses. Given how difficult and specific they are, banning characters helps one side instead of making this more fair and balanced.
As of right now i see nobody pointing out something Samey did agaisnt the Thundering Manifestation. Samey was running around in circles with the Xiangling burst so the burst could spin faster to get more hits. This is really nice to see as i dont often see these mechanics being used as its not super practical most of the time or people just dont use it. If i somehow missed the commentary saying that or someone else has commented already, do forgive me. Edit Typo
It's amazing, there are some other mechanics like that. For example running with YaoYao. The thing is, sometimes you lose more time doing that rather than hitting and getting particles, specially with Xiangling. Same with Benet. Over the years ppl have already developed a sense of fighting where more hits doesn't always equal more dmg, and they look for the ER and reactions rather than individual hit count.
Uhm he couldve dealt more dmg if he didnt face tank the hitboxes. Thundering manifestation goes stationary if you dodge his crucial swinging and pulsating circle attack in the beginning NO ULT IFRAMES. Samey did a great job on the other chambers, but this chamber 2 2nd half was just a weakness to many team comps and his chance of at least getting close to time was made by his mistake of not knowing or dodging instead of ult face tanking.
I usually love videos like this but it would really be a lot more fair and interesting if it were dolphin vs dolphin and whale vs whale instead of dolphin vs whale :/ you could already tell who the winner was when they revealed the constellations
There are dolphins spending their savings in 3 to 4 top C6 characters, and dolphins spending into ~10 or more C2 or C3 characters. Unless hoyoverse add a constellation turn on/off option, we all are just sentenced to not being able to upgrade or downgrade characters for particular purposes. This has been a talk for ages now, specially with Benet's C6 case
as a whale and world record speedrunner i think it would be much more fair and fun to compete against another whale rather than someone using objectively worst characters. I think the categories should be seperate, and should be pitted against those with the same resources so it comes more down to skill.
As a Childe international player, I am honestly blown away by how skillfully Samey played the comp. Especially on first chamber second half against the cryo hydro lectors. Please invite him to your future tournaments. The dodges are beautiful. The rotations are almost near perfect, taking into account how he adapts situationally. It's a graceful showcase of what a invested international comp could look like that f2p/low spending players could also achieve with enough player skills, time and saving. All in all, I would love to see him play a variety of different comps. And, perhaps, maybe it's also good that you should introduce some sort of a gold system to limit the constallations (i.e., c0 5* character or weapon = 1 gold, c1 character or r2 weapon = 2 gold, further idea could be, on broken constallations like c2 nahida or raiden you could value them at 2 gold instead, so for example a c2 nahida would be considered 4 gold, a c2r2 engulfing lightning Raiden would be 6 gold etc etc, whereas characters with garbage constallations like the earlier 5 star units can have their constallations valued at 0.5 gold instead. I.e., a c1 albedo will only be 1.5 gold etc. Because with inazuma patch onwards, the constallation designs of the 5* units have significantly changed and c6 characters usually performs drastically better damage wise as compared to their c0 forms.) Finally, give the competitors limited amount of gold points to build a team and bring 5* weapons as their gold points allow. The current tournament does not seem very fair when Samey looks like he has a low/mid spender oriented team (I have almost the same amount of investment in my international team as a day 1 every-other-patch welkin player.) against a giga whale team. I think, doing this would be more fair. So far, reading the comments, they aren't very kind to the competitors who played this game. Commentors are also unncessarily dismissive towards Shifu when he undeniably also played very well. So perhaps, having a gold system would help resolve this issue when both players are competing at similar gold standards and constallations. It would have been a much better video if Shifu was against another player with c6r5 units too, and if Samey was against another player with low/mid spender level teams, because what we want to see is skill expression and not wallet impact. It would also have made Shifu's victory way more impressive if say he clowned on another c6r5 whale.
As usual, great editing and casting! EDIT: For context, the video title was initially "Dolphin battle" indicating that both players have roughly the same spendings on the game. The issue is if one player topped-up smartly only during anniversary, while the other player tops up without bonus reset, then there might be a huge primo discrepancy. The same thing applies if one of them is more lazy with events and dailies; we should count the primogems and constellations, not the dollars. Watching this makes me realize that the categories F2P/Dolphin/Whale based on the spendings are flawed because of different investment styles: horizontal vs vertical. F2P battles should consist of maximum C1 gold units, Dolphin battles should consist of maximum C2 gold units, and Whale category can be unlimited C6 gold units. Rather than looking at the players' in-game spendings, it's better to introduce 3 different levels of restrictions on constellations and gold weapons.
I'm gonna write in Genshin's next feedback survey to add an option to toggle constellations on and off (im on copium🥲) It would be so useful for testing stuff in general and for maintaining fairness in competitive events. As of now, it's definitely hard for the matchmakers to select participants with similar a skill level/roster strength based off very limited player info :(
@@Xinxinkitty I don't know if you're already doing this but you could always ask for their character prints from hoyolab in a google form, it includes constellations, and could also ask for a print of their 5 star weapons^^
the names (F2P/Dolphin/Whale) themselves are directly in relation to how much a player has spent on the game, regardless of investment, because any player out of those 3 categories isn’t completely locked into one style of investment unless they’re a new player or something. so personally i think that’s what makes the most sense. i struggle to see why people think otherwise.
There are several F2P players owning C6 characters, and having some C6 characters shouldn't be a measure of how OP one account is. For instance you can argue Yelan C6 = Ganyu C6 and Zhongli C6, and Kazuha C6, etc. You realize that's not correct, some characters have broken constellations, so if you want to limit Yelan to C1, she's still a monster with favonius. Then again, bans play a part of the strategy, some yeah, do this more complicated and you'll see ppl banning absolute every dendro character making this more tedious. Tbh, spreading your investments horizontally rather than vertically should be a indicative of how badly built one account is.

Zhongli C6 trash tier, Eula C6 needs at least 20 seconds and nor moving characters on field. Not every C6 is broken, not every C6 is good. Venti C6 is not even better than Kazuha C0.

No one made Samey use Tartaglia international nor mono geo. And for your information, mono geo succ ass with Zhongli since Benet does the best 4th slot character work there. Change Noelle for Itto and then you have an actual somehow decent mono geo comp. Also Tartaglia is amazing, but it's Tartaglia. He has some bad issues regarding CrCd. That international is his best team, but it's not even one of the best international comps.
Stupid suggestion, like all C2 constellations in genshin have the same value. Yelan C2 is already above and beyond C4s and even C5s in genshin. They already explain why 2 and not 3. I'm fact that 2-ban helps more those having less C6 than the ones having them.

Why not you doing this video more often? Its so interesting to watch C6s ruined it a bit. But watching two realy good smooth players is a pleasure by itself. Samey has interesting unique style of dodging, and Shifu got very clean playstyle. They both so good
Samey is the real winner here. All of his builds were at free to play to low spender level of investment and still managed to clear the abyss with 36 stars. Meanwhile the other guy had to use 3 of the strongest C6 5 stars to do it.
Samey account isn't new, I'm more surprised seeing someone having a not new account not having a r5 for their best characters. It's a problem of people horizontally spending resources rather than vertically, and it's not something new. Everyone already knows that developing vertically gives more rewards than horizontally investing. Now Aqua Simulacra r1 is still a broken weapon for one of the most broken characters. Blame Samey for not banning one of the most used characters in spiral abyss.
Samey made it worse by using Noelle instead of Itto (inb4 you don't have Itto yet you want a good mono geo team) and Benet has been proven as the best character instead of Zhongli. And seeing how well Samey did there, I'm more inclined to belive he could get more from the actual strongest mono geo comp instead of looking for stability from Zhongli. For the record, having Kirara would be even better, since her scaling stats for the ultimate are insane. And also Lisa is many times better than Zhongli. Samey played like he's living in 2021.
@@Syokool he used Zhongli for resonance with Albedo, because his pillar can passively trigger Albedo's skill, instead of Noelle's na. Also Zhongli's shreds resistance for geo, and overall a good unit if you know how to use and build him. He didn't choose him for his shield, so putting there Kirara would be useless, because she does not resonate with Albedo, and doesn't provide passive dmg. Lisa can be a good choice, for her def shred, but the difference in dmg would be minimal, and he may not have a built Lisa anyway, also she requires a lot of er, so in mono-geo teams where Noelle can't recharge herself, the only option would be Gorou fav, and Albedo, which could lead to the problems of keeping Lisa's burst uptime, forcing Lisa to use her skill occasionally. And, Lisa's skill cast takes time (because only her full charge gives her energy), and choosing Zhongli over her is an optimal choice, because he doesn't take much time on the field like Lisa would. As for Bennett, we can see that he's busy on the second half, so in some scenarios he may not be available. As for Itto vs. Noelle, isn't the point of this game to play with characters you like? And flex them to your friends or strangers? He clearly likes Noelle a lot, and wanted to showcase her, because she's his pride and joy, so what's the problem then? Also i'm a geo main. I play mono-geo and pyro-geo. I do own Itto and i even collect cons for my geo units (which led me to skip some of the meta-characters). And i fully understand the enjoyment of playing geo characters the way you want. So nah~ don't ever tell people what characters they should play, build or choose, unless they do some gravely mistakes like physical Raiden, or their team lack synergy overall. Here is a good example of standard geo team, no mistakes were made, so it's all fine.
Honestly, props to both people here. That Noelle absolutely shreds the opponents, and I enjoyed seeing thoma up there. Unsurprisingly, Shifu took the crown home, but Samey honestly did amazing, considering who he was up against.
Very cool format. Here is something that would make this 10x more fair. You should add a points system for picks. Something like you only hae 100 points to spend. Depending on their chars cons they cost more etc. Something like yelan c6/Ayaka c6 would be super expensive since they are super overpowered. The current format is fun to watch for a while but if a f2p or dolphin is against a whale its basically over if both players are at the same skill level.
Can we not have C6 whales obliterating everything? Can n we have a C0 or C2 limit? I think the Chinese championships on BlillyBilly have good guide lines. Same y played so well but lost to a wallet.
I've watched those too. And still C2 Yelan demolishes the spiral abyss. Ppl saying CN is better or more balanced are talking out of their asses honestly. In any floor being cleared by any Yelan (C1 to C6) you can safely bet for a 20~30 seconds before it's over. Yelan + Dendro and resistance shred is even worse, and Yelan + XQ + hyper bloom is absolute madness no matter how C0 to C2 is your Yelan. Yeah, that's why in CN having Yelan is synonym of unbalance.

Samey played really well but it didn't matter because his opponent spent more money than he did. Competitions like these need more strict limits. Shifu should've recieved a time penalty or just not be allowed to use those 5 stars at all...
ayato rules, basically him with some elemental appliers and carries the whole team dps, king of hydro c6 ayato's dmg alone vs a full national, he was severely disadvantaged and still won, the rest of ayato teammates were there jsut for shields but weren't contributing to team dps
Imagine the ayato in the video had kazuha + xiangling + Bennett as supports instead of nahida + Jean + thoma. He’d probably finish the entire second half in ~80 seconds

Ngl, the competition becomes uninteresting when it's just dolphin vs whale. Mainly because of whales already have the advantage on clear time and it's obvious which team wins the match. I was gonna call out this competition bs because it was titled dolphin battle, but it's all clarified now. Regardless, good stuff!
I have said this on the last episode, i'll say it again. Letting a c6 yelan go through bans and not pick her immediatly. You are asking to lose. It doesn't matter what you have, if you know your opponent will pick a c6 yelan, you either pick it yourself or you ban it.
Samey's run was more impressive, especially the Childe international team. Squeezing in hydro application for Kazuha to swirl and all the i-frames were awesome to watch. The second run was brought to you buy the power of money lol. The mismatch made sure that there was no hype regardless what the casters say.

@@crazyformyself7296 c6 Yae is also incredibly broken, the three strongest c6 5* are generally considered Yae Miko, Yelan and Wanderer (tho pretty much any c6 can obliterate anything), though that generally is in aggravate and not taser.

It's pvp but there was no competition to begin with because of the huge gap in constellations. It's not the players' fault though. The hosts could've been mindful of rules of the tournament.
People complaining about the constellation difference as if the title doesn't say "dolphin vs whale" lmao. If I had to guess the whale was probably missing a bunch of limited 5 stars compared to the dolphin. So in that sense he did gain some benefit from the 2-ban rule change.
This. Tbh the thing is, the ban should be lifted. I found that, no matter how much you want to get balance, last spiral abysses have been a pain in the ass asking for specific comps and specific characters. Maybe limiting the use of 4* weapons and only 5* for traveler is more doable. Still we have watched CN competitions showing how little do 4* weapons for weakening OP chars. Lifting the char usage limit and lifting the bans will actually helps those weaker accounts that can't compete with others in terms of investing.
@@Syokool fair point, tbh I’m not sure if most of the casuals commenting here could even 36 star this iteration of the abyss. What I’ve found is that post 3.2 Abyss floor 12 is way harder than the abyss 12s back in the inazuma days. The hp pool is 1.5x to 2x larger, the enemies spawn in more waves which forces more stalling and clunkier rotations, and the newer enemies have more aggressive AI. Most of the casuals here just complain about the investment disparity and straight up ignore the gameplay displayed by the 2 contestants, which is disrespectful in my opinion. Sure the accounts are invested differently and the whale has stronger individual characters on a smaller cast. But even then I’ve seen whales lose to dolphins/fishes/f2ps in contests before. Hell just look at the 3.3 competition on this channel lol. That whale had awful synergies on one half and awful rotations overall, and lost despite playing an f2p on an easier iteration of the abyss
Who will win? C0 zhongli/albedo/Childe and C2 Kazuha? Or C2 Nahida and C6 Ayato/Yae/Yelan? /s While I would enjoy this type of content and appreciate the amount of work that goes into making it happen, I really really wish more focus was put on matching up similar account levels against each other.
C6 Albedo c6 Zhongli c6 Childe and c6 Kazuha are absolute trash tier compared with c6 Yelan. You can't balance genshin, not even CN with their rules can. Yelan C2 is already the best character any account can get, even above having Shogun Raiden C2, and in some causes even better than having Kazuha. It's been a headache for ppl organizing these competitions that they can't do anything to balance things out, bc if you ban Yelan the other team will ban dendro and specific chars like Kazuha, Zhongli and Raiden. That's why they made a 2 ban thing in order to look for better opportunities for the weaker side. Now Xingqiu was already broken. Ban yelan and instead Nahida + Xq + Kuki + any other dendro char will still destroy that floor. Dendro and Hydro are the 2 most broken elements in genshin. Maybe banning them you will have more balanced things for everyone, no matter how good their constellations are.

For those mentioning the dolphin/whale situation, I think to fix that isn't really 'dolphin' or 'whale', because even a dolphin can C6 a character, or C1-2 all their characters- it's too broad. I think a fairer way to deal with this is to put these matches into categories, such as C0-C2 & C3-C6 separately, or something of the sort!
Samey was fighting a loosing battle here and still managed to play so well. If he has Banned Yelan even then Shifu must have had other c6 r5 characters in his arsenal. The only thing im reassured after this is spending that much amount of money in Genshin isn't worth it since it only gets you to clear abyss like 2mins faster😂
Man watching whale clears is fun but I realized later that it was Dolphin vs Whale. This makes the whole thing a bit unfun to watch coz there's no way a dolphin can beat whale units like C6 yelan without some C6 5* of their own. A dolphin vs dolphin would actually be a real competition at least with close timings. Great endeavour regardless. Hope you guys get enough participants to do another whale vs whale clear.
These competitions are great to watch. They give me an idea of how good my teams really are. Even if I don't clear some of the floors quite as fast, knowing that I'm so close puts me at ease considering I'm not a meta slave and build teams strictly based on synergies
unfair but a fun watch nonetheless, even tho shifu had the clear advantage in terms of cons both players played really well, but for this format to be engaging in a competitive sense, it definitely would need better restrictions in future episodes or penalties for high con 5* characters
Because the other side is either slow in thinking or banning Yelan will call for banning other stuff. Like one side banning yelan, then other will ban Zhongli, Kazuha, Raiden and Nahida. Bans are a strategy you want to use to maximize your performance against an opponent, but you don't want it to be detrimental to you too. It's complicated, but there are at least 2 other characters equally if not stronger than Yelan.
Rules is so no restricted, imagine playing competition with C6 character, that's not how it works, limitation is needed, it's not matter if your character has 4star weapon if your character is c6
That's ostracizing ppl that activated C6 before even knowing about tournaments, involving themselves on those challenges, and had the absolute ridiculous idea of upgrading a character instead of looking for fairness and balance in genshin. That's how bad it sounds. Instead, we should be asking hoyoverse for something that has been a talk for sometime now: the possibility of activating/deactivating constellations.
Spoiler.. No big surprise, Whale yelan and ayato completely clears f2p mono geo/international. would’ve been interesting if team aether was a player with a bit more investment so it was close imo
Seeing the mono geo team, in order to beat yelan c6 you need Itto C6, Benet C6, Gorou C6 and Albedo. Yeah, at least 3C6 well built characters to beat one broken C6, and I'm talking about Itto C6 R5. That's how trash and badly aged is geo, and how many ppl are concerned about geo in general. Mono geo is really fun to play, but it's not worth unless you are a whale.

Bc then moment they do that, some will stop watching these videos, some will ask for other character's ban, etc. In the end of the day, Yelan is still a character from genshin impact, and her use is as valid as other's. Ofc if you don't mind being called racist for banning a CN based character.
Good runs but pointless competition. Reasons : - not enough bans, can't even ban the meta even if you wanted - limiting 5* weapons but not refinement actually favors the whales, terrible rule that does the opposite of what it should - not limiting constellations, if you don't want to ban c6, then at least put a total limit of 6 5* constellations (or 10 maybe) If you don't want to do any of these, then maybe at least set up matches between players with equal investment.
I agree but with the last point as we can't really switch on/off constellations yet. Tbh, some ppl have godly luck spending less than others having awful luck going from hard pity to hard pity, sometimes missing even featured 4* characters. We are just seeing the very problems we knew existed. It's the very reason ppl is asking for particular buffs, for some changes in mechanics, etc. It's a big issue that makes things difficult for everyone for everything in genshin, not only showcase challenges.
@@Syokool My suggestion still works without a constellation switch. You could still use any of the characters you have, just not all at the same time. It's not ideal but still infinitely better than no limitation.

No matter how good u are if ur against a whale with many top tier c6 characters even if they only knowvhow to ppay thr game and not necessarily very skilled, u wil lose the game. Match up balancing should be given more emphasis tbh

Here's a tip for future videos, I think the restrictions in the matches should only apply to the whales.. The dolphin players should be allowed to fight at their full power.. That way the matches would be wayy more exciting..
I think a whale fight with 0 restrictions will be exciting too.
We are at a point where they should lift any ban for these last abysses.
Given how difficult and specific they are, banning characters helps one side instead of making this more fair and balanced.
Kinda unbalances it tho, yes constellations are powerful but it’s not a big enough difference to say the other team just has zero restrictions
As of right now i see nobody pointing out something Samey did agaisnt the Thundering Manifestation. Samey was running around in circles with the Xiangling burst so the burst could spin faster to get more hits. This is really nice to see as i dont often see these mechanics being used as its not super practical most of the time or people just dont use it.

It's amazing, there are some other mechanics like that. For example running with YaoYao. The thing is, sometimes you lose more time doing that rather than hitting and getting particles, specially with Xiangling. Same with Benet. Over the years ppl have already developed a sense of fighting where more hits doesn't always equal more dmg, and they look for the ER and reactions rather than individual hit count.
Uhm he couldve dealt more dmg if he didnt face tank the hitboxes. Thundering manifestation goes stationary if you dodge his crucial swinging and pulsating circle attack in the beginning NO ULT IFRAMES.
Samey did a great job on the other chambers, but this chamber 2 2nd half was just a weakness to many team comps and his chance of at least getting close to time was made by his mistake of not knowing or dodging instead of ult face tanking.

There are dolphins spending their savings in 3 to 4 top C6 characters, and dolphins spending into ~10 or more C2 or C3 characters.
Unless hoyoverse add a constellation turn on/off option, we all are just sentenced to not being able to upgrade or downgrade characters for particular purposes. This has been a talk for ages now, specially with Benet's C6 case

As a Childe international player, I am honestly blown away by how skillfully Samey played the comp. Especially on first chamber second half against the cryo hydro lectors. Please invite him to your future tournaments. The dodges are beautiful. The rotations are almost near perfect, taking into account how he adapts situationally. It's a graceful showcase of what a invested international comp could look like that f2p/low spending players could also achieve with enough player skills, time and saving. All in all, I would love to see him play a variety of different comps.
And, perhaps, maybe it's also good that you should introduce some sort of a gold system to limit the constallations (i.e., c0 5* character or weapon = 1 gold, c1 character or r2 weapon = 2 gold, further idea could be, on broken constallations like c2 nahida or raiden you could value them at 2 gold instead, so for example a c2 nahida would be considered 4 gold, a c2r2 engulfing lightning Raiden would be 6 gold etc etc, whereas characters with garbage constallations like the earlier 5 star units can have their constallations valued at 0.5 gold instead. I.e., a c1 albedo will only be 1.5 gold etc. Because with inazuma patch onwards, the constallation designs of the 5* units have significantly changed and c6 characters usually performs drastically better damage wise as compared to their c0 forms.)
Finally, give the competitors limited amount of gold points to build a team and bring 5* weapons as their gold points allow. The current tournament does not seem very fair when Samey looks like he has a low/mid spender oriented team (I have almost the same amount of investment in my international team as a day 1 every-other-patch welkin player.) against a giga whale team.
I think, doing this would be more fair. So far, reading the comments, they aren't very kind to the competitors who played this game. Commentors are also unncessarily dismissive towards Shifu when he undeniably also played very well. So perhaps, having a gold system would help resolve this issue when both players are competing at similar gold standards and constallations. It would have been a much better video if Shifu was against another player with c6r5 units too, and if Samey was against another player with low/mid spender level teams, because what we want to see is skill expression and not wallet impact. It would also have made Shifu's victory way more impressive if say he clowned on another c6r5 whale.

EDIT: For context, the video title was initially "Dolphin battle" indicating that both players have roughly the same spendings on the game. The issue is if one player topped-up smartly only during anniversary, while the other player tops up without bonus reset, then there might be a huge primo discrepancy. The same thing applies if one of them is more lazy with events and dailies; we should count the primogems and constellations, not the dollars.
Watching this makes me realize that the categories F2P/Dolphin/Whale based on the spendings are flawed because of different investment styles: horizontal vs vertical. F2P battles should consist of maximum C1 gold units, Dolphin battles should consist of maximum C2 gold units, and Whale category can be unlimited C6 gold units. Rather than looking at the players' in-game spendings, it's better to introduce 3 different levels of restrictions on constellations and gold weapons.
I'm gonna write in Genshin's next feedback survey to add an option to toggle constellations on and off (im on copium🥲) It would be so useful for testing stuff in general and for maintaining fairness in competitive events. As of now, it's definitely hard for the matchmakers to select participants with similar a skill level/roster strength based off very limited player info :(

the names (F2P/Dolphin/Whale) themselves are directly in relation to how much a player has spent on the game, regardless of investment, because any player out of those 3 categories isn’t completely locked into one style of investment unless they’re a new player or something.
so personally i think that’s what makes the most sense. i struggle to see why people think otherwise.

There are several F2P players owning C6 characters, and having some C6 characters shouldn't be a measure of how OP one account is.
For instance you can argue Yelan C6 = Ganyu C6 and Zhongli C6, and Kazuha C6, etc. You realize that's not correct, some characters have broken constellations, so if you want to limit Yelan to C1, she's still a monster with favonius.
Then again, bans play a part of the strategy, some yeah, do this more complicated and you'll see ppl banning absolute every dendro character making this more tedious. Tbh, spreading your investments horizontally rather than vertically should be a indicative of how badly built one account is.

Zhongli C6 trash tier, Eula C6 needs at least 20 seconds and nor moving characters on field. Not every C6 is broken, not every C6 is good. Venti C6 is not even better than Kazuha C0.

No one made Samey use Tartaglia international nor mono geo. And for your information, mono geo succ ass with Zhongli since Benet does the best 4th slot character work there. Change Noelle for Itto and then you have an actual somehow decent mono geo comp. Also Tartaglia is amazing, but it's Tartaglia. He has some bad issues regarding CrCd. That international is his best team, but it's not even one of the best international comps.

Samey account isn't new, I'm more surprised seeing someone having a not new account not having a r5 for their best characters. It's a problem of people horizontally spending resources rather than vertically, and it's not something new. Everyone already knows that developing vertically gives more rewards than horizontally investing. Now Aqua Simulacra r1 is still a broken weapon for one of the most broken characters. Blame Samey for not banning one of the most used characters in spiral abyss.

Samey made it worse by using Noelle instead of Itto (inb4 you don't have Itto yet you want a good mono geo team) and Benet has been proven as the best character instead of Zhongli. And seeing how well Samey did there, I'm more inclined to belive he could get more from the actual strongest mono geo comp instead of looking for stability from Zhongli. For the record, having Kirara would be even better, since her scaling stats for the ultimate are insane. And also Lisa is many times better than Zhongli.

@@Syokool he used Zhongli for resonance with Albedo, because his pillar can passively trigger Albedo's skill, instead of Noelle's na. Also Zhongli's shreds resistance for geo, and overall a good unit if you know how to use and build him. He didn't choose him for his shield, so putting there Kirara would be useless, because she does not resonate with Albedo, and doesn't provide passive dmg. Lisa can be a good choice, for her def shred, but the difference in dmg would be minimal, and he may not have a built Lisa anyway, also she requires a lot of er, so in mono-geo teams where Noelle can't recharge herself, the only option would be Gorou fav, and Albedo, which could lead to the problems of keeping Lisa's burst uptime, forcing Lisa to use her skill occasionally. And, Lisa's skill cast takes time (because only her full charge gives her energy), and choosing Zhongli over her is an optimal choice, because he doesn't take much time on the field like Lisa would. As for Bennett, we can see that he's busy on the second half, so in some scenarios he may not be available. As for Itto vs. Noelle, isn't the point of this game to play with characters you like? And flex them to your friends or strangers? He clearly likes Noelle a lot, and wanted to showcase her, because she's his pride and joy, so what's the problem then?
Also i'm a geo main. I play mono-geo and pyro-geo. I do own Itto and i even collect cons for my geo units (which led me to skip some of the meta-characters). And i fully understand the enjoyment of playing geo characters the way you want. So nah~ don't ever tell people what characters they should play, build or choose, unless they do some gravely mistakes like physical Raiden, or their team lack synergy overall. Here is a good example of standard geo team, no mistakes were made, so it's all fine.

Very cool format. Here is something that would make this 10x more fair. You should add a points system for picks. Something like you only hae 100 points to spend.
Depending on their chars cons they cost more etc. Something like yelan c6/Ayaka c6 would be super expensive since they are super overpowered. The current format is fun to watch for a while but if a f2p or dolphin is against a whale its basically over if both players are at the same skill level.

I've watched those too. And still C2 Yelan demolishes the spiral abyss. Ppl saying CN is better or more balanced are talking out of their asses honestly. In any floor being cleared by any Yelan (C1 to C6) you can safely bet for a 20~30 seconds before it's over.
Yelan + Dendro and resistance shred is even worse, and Yelan + XQ + hyper bloom is absolute madness no matter how C0 to C2 is your Yelan. Yeah, that's why in CN having Yelan is synonym of unbalance.

This. Tbh the thing is, the ban should be lifted. I found that, no matter how much you want to get balance, last spiral abysses have been a pain in the ass asking for specific comps and specific characters.
Maybe limiting the use of 4* weapons and only 5* for traveler is more doable. Still we have watched CN competitions showing how little do 4* weapons for weakening OP chars.
Lifting the char usage limit and lifting the bans will actually helps those weaker accounts that can't compete with others in terms of investing.
@@Syokool fair point, tbh I’m not sure if most of the casuals commenting here could even 36 star this iteration of the abyss. What I’ve found is that post 3.2 Abyss floor 12 is way harder than the abyss 12s back in the inazuma days. The hp pool is 1.5x to 2x larger, the enemies spawn in more waves which forces more stalling and clunkier rotations, and the newer enemies have more aggressive AI.
Most of the casuals here just complain about the investment disparity and straight up ignore the gameplay displayed by the 2 contestants, which is disrespectful in my opinion. Sure the accounts are invested differently and the whale has stronger individual characters on a smaller cast. But even then I’ve seen whales lose to dolphins/fishes/f2ps in contests before. Hell just look at the 3.3 competition on this channel lol. That whale had awful synergies on one half and awful rotations overall, and lost despite playing an f2p on an easier iteration of the abyss

While I would enjoy this type of content and appreciate the amount of work that goes into making it happen, I really really wish more focus was put on matching up similar account levels against each other.
C6 Albedo c6 Zhongli c6 Childe and c6 Kazuha are absolute trash tier compared with c6 Yelan. You can't balance genshin, not even CN with their rules can.
Yelan C2 is already the best character any account can get, even above having Shogun Raiden C2, and in some causes even better than having Kazuha.
It's been a headache for ppl organizing these competitions that they can't do anything to balance things out, bc if you ban Yelan the other team will ban dendro and specific chars like Kazuha, Zhongli and Raiden. That's why they made a 2 ban thing in order to look for better opportunities for the weaker side.
Now Xingqiu was already broken. Ban yelan and instead Nahida + Xq + Kuki + any other dendro char will still destroy that floor. Dendro and Hydro are the 2 most broken elements in genshin. Maybe banning them you will have more balanced things for everyone, no matter how good their constellations are.

For those mentioning the dolphin/whale situation, I think to fix that isn't really 'dolphin' or 'whale', because even a dolphin can C6 a character, or C1-2 all their characters- it's too broad.
I think a fairer way to deal with this is to put these matches into categories, such as C0-C2 & C3-C6 separately, or something of the sort!

These competitions are great to watch. They give me an idea of how good my teams really are. Even if I don't clear some of the floors quite as fast, knowing that I'm so close puts me at ease considering I'm not a meta slave and build teams strictly based on synergies
unfair but a fun watch nonetheless, even tho shifu had the clear advantage in terms of cons both players played really well, but for this format to be engaging in a competitive sense, it definitely would need better restrictions in future episodes or penalties for high con 5* characters
My question is, why are whales never banned from Yelan?
Because the other side is either slow in thinking or banning Yelan will call for banning other stuff. Like one side banning yelan, then other will ban Zhongli, Kazuha, Raiden and Nahida. Bans are a strategy you want to use to maximize your performance against an opponent, but you don't want it to be detrimental to you too. It's complicated, but there are at least 2 other characters equally if not stronger than Yelan.

Rules is so no restricted, imagine playing competition with C6 character, that's not how it works, limitation is needed, it's not matter if your character has 4star weapon if your character is c6

That's ostracizing ppl that activated C6 before even knowing about tournaments, involving themselves on those challenges, and had the absolute ridiculous idea of upgrading a character instead of looking for fairness and balance in genshin.
That's how bad it sounds. Instead, we should be asking hoyoverse for something that has been a talk for sometime now: the possibility of activating/deactivating constellations.

No big surprise, Whale yelan and ayato completely clears f2p mono geo/international. would’ve been interesting if team aether was a player with a bit more investment so it was close imo
Seeing the mono geo team, in order to beat yelan c6 you need Itto C6, Benet C6, Gorou C6 and Albedo. Yeah, at least 3C6 well built characters to beat one broken C6, and I'm talking about Itto C6 R5. That's how trash and badly aged is geo, and how many ppl are concerned about geo in general. Mono geo is really fun to play, but it's not worth unless you are a whale.
Its so unfair to have c6 r5 whales against dolphins bruh...you dont even need any talent to clear abyss with c6 characters....samey is the real winner here

this was really unfair to aether ngl, even with a single c6 the difference is huge but lumine had one of the 3 best c6 chars. It didn’t matter how great aether play bc they were gonna lose anyway. It would be better to make showcases like dolphin vs dolphin or whale vs whale bc like this it’s already decided from the start who’s gonna win

i know this is a dolphin vs whale thing but why is using c6 yelan (one of the best cons for frontloaded damage/speedrunning) still allowed?
Bc then moment they do that, some will stop watching these videos, some will ask for other character's ban, etc.
In the end of the day, Yelan is still a character from genshin impact, and her use is as valid as other's. Ofc if you don't mind being called racist for banning a CN based character.
I don't mind that they used yelan, it's that they used *C6 yelan*. I just wish they'd limit the constellations to make it more fair

Woah, the gameplay is simply insane!
Good runs but pointless competition.
Reasons :
- not enough bans, can't even ban the meta even if you wanted
- limiting 5* weapons but not refinement actually favors the whales, terrible rule that does the opposite of what it should
- not limiting constellations, if you don't want to ban c6, then at least put a total limit of 6 5* constellations (or 10 maybe)
If you don't want to do any of these, then maybe at least set up matches between players with equal investment.
I agree but with the last point as we can't really switch on/off constellations yet.
Tbh, some ppl have godly luck spending less than others having awful luck going from hard pity to hard pity, sometimes missing even featured 4* characters. We are just seeing the very problems we knew existed. It's the very reason ppl is asking for particular buffs, for some changes in mechanics, etc. It's a big issue that makes things difficult for everyone for everything in genshin, not only showcase challenges.
@@Syokool My suggestion still works without a constellation switch. You could still use any of the characters you have, just not all at the same time. It's not ideal but still infinitely better than no limitation.
