Mr Shu, I fallow your video daily, I was very impressed to your post, very professional and you are a true asset of Japan by bringing a multi culture in Japan. Yes, I would like to do the same as Mr Ruben experience to own a property in Japan. But a don’t speak the language and I don’t know anyone in Japan to facilitate all my questions, would you possibly help me?
Hello from Indonesia. Congratulation to the new owner. I grew up in Ootaku, Tokyo. My parents former house was 10 min walk from Ookayama station. Ootaku is a great place to live. It is quite and accesible. And my favorite part of Ootaku is this big lake called Senzoku ike. A great place to spend weekends.
Hey guys, congratulations on another happy client! Where is Collin? Is he shy 😂? I hope you didn't stop working with him on clients 😄 He is fun to watch!
This house is gorgeous. Honestly, if this house were mine, I wouldn't do a thing to it. I love it just as is. What a unique feature that attic is. Congratulations to Ruben!
In the master bedroom you could turn the one closet into a desk/office area with storage shelves. The other room with deep closet could turn into walk in closet or a desk/shelving area. like have shelves at the back of desk going up from desk height to ceiling.
Congratulations to Reuben! Ota-ku is such a nice place and this home is so beautiful. Really interested in buying a home already renovated as well but working on purchasing an akiya to start collecting income. Looking forward to the next videos for more insight and info.
I have several friends living in Ota-ku -- this looks like the area around 西馬込。 My only concern would be the 新幹線, but maybe it's just background noise. The best area of Ota-ku (IMHO) is around Ikegami Honmon-ji Temple 池上本門寺. Also, check out the Korean BBQ at Panmunjeom 板門店!
Mr. Ruben, the house looked so nice and have big size too. I hope we can meet someday. You are Otaku and we are not so far away. We are in Yokohama. We will be here in June too.
We, my husband Tino, and I are in Yokohama just purchased a house. We are from California too. We have to get our key on April 8 and return U.S. right after. I followed the instructions to purchase from your video. We really appreciate your video which helped us so much. We have questions. We are retired couple. We only came here to purchase a house with sightseen visa. Is there any idea that we can apply kind of visa that we can stay more than 90 days at once ? (for total of 180 days for a year). We have house in California and rental property too. We bought a second home in Yokohama, but we do want to stay here little longer than 90 days every time.
@@shumatsuopostit’s rough. Took me a year to get a condo in San Diego. My condo is 1/3 the size of his place, but 3 Times the price. My 401k, which i have had for 20 years, Will be able to withdraw with matching in 5 years. I’m thinking to move to Neyagawa-shi.
Job well done, Shu. It looks like a decent house at that price in or close to Shinjuku, if I'm not wrong. I don't think it would cost more than $10K to make this house gleam. I'm waiting to be your next ‘Ruben’ ! 👍👍
I feel so jealous,he didn't just bought a house,he also bought a new life like he will be a different man for now,and the house is konda cute and beautiful, and also the attic os so fine imagine having an attic in japan and other than that can you not imagine the attic can also is turn it into the master bedroom which has aton of storage damn if i was rueben the attic is going to be my new master bedroom or my new man cave.
Congratulation! One question is once purchased already a house in Japan, the problem is how to live in permanently. Would that be easy to apply Permanent Residence of Japan ?
This is a nice one for sure, I hope he enjoys it. I just have a hard time envisioning myself in most of these houses because of their proximity to their neighbor, lack of sun light and a yard and parking space. I have to be surrounded by nature so the city (for what I am seeing) may not be for me.
172k is a little steep, though the location of the house is pretty good. i guess it really depends on what one really wants to do. whether to buy an empty house in the country side for real cheap; to buy a rental property for investment purposes; to buy multiplexes at a market that gets the best returns and not necessarily at a town where you would want to live your self; or for some other purposes. me, i want to get a traditional old fashioned japanese style ryokan at a snowy ski resort town, muahahah
It’s alarming to me that so many Westerners are buying property in Japan moving there and then complaining about the culture and rules of etiquette they’re not use to. Why don’t they move to Korea or China? Japan’s culture is so respectful and the country is so clean. They won’t fit in and will quickly tire of respecting it - I’ve seen it time after time. 😢
Congratulations on the new purchase. I have one question does it have a designated parking space? How big is the house.? How much land does it come with?
@@aviationaviation1032 You have to look into that yourself, of course. Like in most urban cities, the prices for parking vary depending on the parking lot, if it's covered parking, etc.
@@shumatsuopost is it rebuildable ? my understanding is if the road is less than 4meters wide leading in to the house then it can't be rebuilt. I'm wondering if this is the case for this house as it appears to be down a laneway

For those who don't know Ota-ku... (literally) when the wind blows the entire ku smells like garbage because the incinerator, waste and sewage plants are there. No thanks.
Driving in Tokyo, and owning a car in an urban city, is about as enjoyable as driving in Manhattan, and owning a car there. If you've ever done it, you know it is not worth the hassle.

$172K. You can't even buy a tiny studio in a condo building in California for that price, unless the monthly maintenance fees are $2K a month (and that will only go up in perpetuity, as long as you own it).
Ota-ku in Tokyo. If you think it's small, I guess you've never lived in Manhattan or London. Tokyo is a major urban center of the world. Japan is a chain of islands. They don't have endless land there.
