    love it i do have a hard time knowing which way the seams go together when you are lining them up to sew. Wish you could do a tutorial on how to lay those seams before you sew... Do you use your Vintage singer for this project like you did the lace zipper pouch? i made that same one using my singer. The first bag i completed all of it on a vintage machine for the very first time. I use the narrow foot for my zippers and i loved it. I just found your channel. I wish in future videos you can show us how you do each step and showing you using your machine to make your products. Thanks in advance

    I wish I would have seen this BEFORE the purse I made with a lace zipper.

    Hi Nicole! I just finished a boxed pouch. I made mine a little smaller because my lace zippers are only 20cm. Turned out great for my first try. I think my fusible foam was a little thicker than what you use . But it worked. The # on it is FF9F2, Flex-Foam 2-sided Fusible Stabilizer by Pellon. One thing I did do different was on the handle and pull tab was zig zag the ends.

      So glad it worked for you...pellon foam is not ine l have used...but l believ the brand that l use is a little thinner by 1mm...but l am so glad it worked out for you 😊❤

      What were the measurements for the small size please?

    • @beckymoffitt7705
      @beckymoffitt7705 4 роки тому

      I just cut it a little smaller to match the 20cm zipper using the zipper as my guide.

    I have a question about the foam interfacing. I found some thinner than what I have but it’s only adheres in one side. Would it be better to fuse the outer fabric to it or the lining. Thank you Nicole for great tutorials.

    • @darvanaleedesignsstudio
      @darvanaleedesignsstudio  5 років тому

      Hi Becky, great question hun...for me l would fuse the outer fabric with the foam...just remeber not to have the iron too hot 😊😊

    I just love the fabric you used. Is it on your website? I realize being across the "big pond" (Pacific) it would cost me a bundle to order from you. :-(.
    I know this part is off topic-do you use any type of starch on your fabric for patchwork? I have always washed my fabric before using it (Mama and Gramma drilled that into me), but some quilters I know don't do that at all before cutting their fabric. They also starch their fabric as well. any thoughts?
    BTW, I love using my clapper as well. I got mine from Nancy's Notions out of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and don't you just love Wonder Clips! I love using them and the flat head pins. So easy to grasp and remove when a Wonder Clip won't work.
    How did you make your ironing pad? I've made a small portable one using a wooden tv tray, but it is sometimes hard to transport.
    On my vintage machines, I don't have a zipper foot. Would the 1/4 in foot work just as well for the zipper?
    Just got to thinking, with masculine fabrics and a regular zipper, that would make a great shaving kit for a husband, brother or son for a gift.
