Ah, the "Bee" and the "Boo"...
Two of the kindest souls of the server who found each other, who went from political rivals to friends to (platonic) husbands.
A relationship like a warm spring day, as soft as the tone of the song and as sweet as the singers' voices, wouldn't you say?
Their bond is light fun and laughter, a gentle family life, but also excitement and adventures...
It's a love akin to a dream, a breath of fresh air away from the heaviness of life.
And Ranboo and Tubbo, they need it.
They indeed, "count on" each other, "take care" of each other and are there when they need it.
Ranboo needs Tubbo because he's deeply scared of being hated and lonely, requiring someone that genuinely cares about him and defends him, especially since he usually downplays his personal needs;
Tubbo needs Ranboo because he's too impulsive at times, requiring someone that holds him back and keeps him safe when he decides to engage in unreasonable risks, gently urging him to stay out of trouble.
And these needs in turn, that familial sense of support, they lead us back to the darkest pages of their individual and shared history.
Because if we are to dig deeper, Tubbo and Ranboo feel the need to escape.
They need their relationship to see the light of day when their somber thoughts catch up with them, when Ranboo is shaken by his anxiety and the voice in his head, when Tubbo sees fireworks and explosions go off in his mind's eye.
One could argue that their bond is the most functional relationship out of all the attempts on the Dream SMP, which holds true and blooms when any other bond wilts and crumbles, and frankly you'd probably be right.
It's a marriage, so loving, strong and stable that it defies all negativity and all tragedies...
...Or at least it did defy them for the longest of times.
Now, in the face of trouble, of Wilbur the troublemaker, its foundation suddenly shakes and Tubbo and Ranboo tremble.
Because the thing that they have created, their bond... it's removed from reality.
As true as their love is...
As real as their care is...
The bubble they created, that they lived in together is a lie, in a sense.
When they spent time together, they could leave their troubles behind, finding comfort in the presence of the other, they could find happiness in their misery in a parallel reality they built themselves, one where nothing mattered but their friendship.
It was like a perfect moment, and time was only moving sluggishly, dripping slowly like honey and keeping them stuck in the present instead of being sucked back into the past.
But an almost eternal daydream like this...
It keeps you from moving forward.
It keeps you from dealing with your problems, from putting your past behind you.
Tubbo and Ranboo...
They were there for each other and yet they never talked, not properly.
Neither of them came clean about their most hidden emotions, it was a million "You won't remember"s and a billion "I'm fine"s but they never tackled their problems as a couple, they only ran together...
They fled.
Not from each other but from themselves, right into a world of endless spring.
And so, as nice and beautiful as their marriage is...
Did they ever reveal their whole self to their partner?
Have they really actually caught a glimpse of anything beyond this dream?
In the latest lore streams...
Ranboo was not prepared to see Tubbo break down and cry.
Tubbo couldn't comprehend why Ranboo was so upset by the fact that he sold the cookie shop.
The two of them are able to live a harmonic life, to be "each other's refuge" and "to be each other's strength" and yet...
They fail to understand the other on a fundamental level.
And this, those untold secrets, that lack of insight into each other's heart and mind, it's starting to break them apart.
There's a new brand of discomfort when they interact, that's beginning to manifest, slowly dissolving their shared dream...
The thought of that suddenly uncovered fragility of their connection gives this song an additional bitter-sweet hue to its lyrics and the melody;
It's like a silent worry, the question that was never asked behind the gentle and comforting nature of the music, the heavy sigh that follows the softly serious yet light-hearted purity of its meaning.
Simultanously though...
The song also gives me hope.
It supports my belief that Bee Duo will learn and open up, repair the cracks in their relationship.
Because if there's one thing that we know about Tubbo and Ranboo (and Tommy, if we're talking about the entirety of our beloved Bench Trio) it's that they, out of all of the people on the server, carry a love and hope in their soul that is matched by nobody else;
They hold onto their loved ones, onto each other.
And that's a quality which you manage to bring out with this beautiful piece:
"Whenever you need a friend, you know I will be there."
Let's hope that these lyrics hold true, for the sake of Tubbo, Ranboo... and Michael, of course.
He has spent six months with a set of loving parents...
And he will need them in the future, in the tumultuous times that are surely to come, just like Tubbo and Ranboo will need each other.
(PJA, Megan, your collaboration turned out wonderfully!
All that time watching it being worked on on stream, all the waiting...
It was totally worth it!

If I remember correctly you said it reminded you of cozy rainy days spent inside, PJA, but to me it will stay the sweet scent of flowers in spring time...
The time of the year where you'll be able to spy the first bees on cautiously unfolding petals...
